QUOTE (sultry brunette @ Oct 16 2008, 02:58 PM)

I have had a couple of requests to post quick reviews of all I have tried. I keep a little spreadsheet, so am just copying and pasting into this.
Please keep in mind while reading these that tea, lime and strong fruits (apple, peach, etc) are amped and then morphed on my skin. I tend not to do well with scents that contain those ingredients (although this is not always the case). I would recommend reading the full reviews on these scents, don't just go with my experience.
- 21st Century Venus Nice and light. Perfect balance of citrus, floral and spice.
- 12th Night in New Orleans It is very creamy and warm. The spices (allspice, cinnamon, clove) are the prominant notes on me. They sit on a faint cloud of patchouli and sugar. It is a wonderful blend with the different layers coming out throughout the day.
- Allegro ~ Happiness Potion Definitely a happy scent. It gives me the feeling of a summer breeze. It is light and fruity, but not overpowerfully so. It didn't last long on me, but was still worth purchasing a full bottle.
- Angel of Spring I liked this one OK. It was a nice floral, but did not strike me as one I have to have. A touch too green for my taste.
- Ashes to Dust Very strong woody scent. Not necessarily a good fragrance for daily wear. Get for the magical intent.
- Autumn Lust Too apple for me
- Bayberry and Gold This one smelled too foody for my taste
- Beltane Very dark. On me, it was too incensy and smokey. It smelled great in the bottle.
- Betrothal Potion A nice light floral. A little too light for my skin (it was gone in just over an hour), but beautiful none the less.
- BFF something in it too sharp on my skin.
- Blessed Sacrament Smelled good in the bottle and wet on the skin. As it dried, however, it smelled a little plastiky.
- Carpe Noctum A nice base of spice and soft wood wrapped in a warm blanket of vanilla and musk. Very nice and soft.
- Celestial Lust Dust My skin does not like the tea notes
- CFM Surprisingly, this one worked on my skin. I was not sure if it would because of the tea notes. The sandalwood and amber countered the acrid notes that the tea usually converts to on me.
- Cleopatra's Blend 2008 Wonderful! Nice floral top note with a deep sensuous base.
- Cocoa Sauvignon This one had too strong of a chocolate smell for my taste.
- Come to Me This one was just OK on me.
- Communication Potion I really enjoyed the blend of florals and green in this one. Very soft, light and springy. It lasted much longer on my skin than I expected. It also had positive results in assisting with communication at a family gathering.
- Cuddle Bunny II Very pretty floral. Light and soft.
- Dark Seductions Rich floral notes tempered with a deep amber base. Dries slightly powdery.
- Dead Man's Float Too close to root beer for my taste. I don't tend to like scents that are too "foody"
- Deliciously Wicked The chocolate is strong on me, but the honey and musk come out as it dries down.
- Dirty Sexy The amber is strongest on me. It is spicy with a fruity background.
- Down & Dirty This one made me think of a smokey piano bar. I could clearly smell the wisky and caramel with a deep base of spice and wood.
- Dragon, Phoenix, Pearl Tea does not do well on my skin
- Dreams of Avalon Very green with a hint of floral
- Egg This one did not agree with my skin
- Fairy Massacre Perfume A nice light floral. A little too light for my skin (it was gone in just over an hour), but beautiful none the less.
- Flapper This one did not agree with my skin
- GM: Chapter 2 ~ Seduction This was too fruity for my taste.
- Goblin Goo The grape and peach are strongest on me. My skin did not agree with the grape (very acidic smelling on me).
- Halloween Moon Wet - a hint of pumpkin (i agree with the "dry" description), clove and cinnamon. After it dries down, the pumpkin moves to the back and the clove tones down. The musk and the nutmeg come to the front in a soft wave without any powder.
- Hallowtide The apple was strongest on me. Too fruity for my taste.
- Heart of Kapet This is a deep warm scent. Slightly incensy. Makes a wonderful bath oil mixed with Miasma.
- Hera's Eye The lime did not agree with my skin.
- Hexen Tea does not do well on my skin. It also turned very soapy on me.
- Holle This one was nice, but did not last long on me. I could definitely smell the fig.
- Honeyed Seductions The violet is beautiful. The ambers and vanilla come out strongest. Slight plastic smell wet (I think honey does that one me), but dried down nice.
- Immortal Beauty Beautiful. Surprised me by not smelling "fruity". Very well blended for a nice light floral with a hint of fruit that is slightly deepend by the spices
- In the Mood too pungent for me. Not sure what it was, but it turned on my skin.
- Justice Potion a little too green for me
- Kingdom of Dreams Nice floral with a foundation of green. Long lasting.
- Kittenish very peachy
- La Vie De Boheme (Women) The coffee is too strong in this one for me. I think I need to let it age and see what happens
- Lady Casanova This one is a nice floral. The tea does not come out too strong on me until about an hour into wearing. I have to layer something else at that point.
- Linnea Quigley's RABID Very dirty smelling with a background of faint floral. It is a wonderful layering tool to temper strong florals.
- Linnea Quigley's Summer of Sin Makes me feel like the carribean!
- Lioness This was an interesting combo. The wood and tobacco came out strongest on my skin, making it a little too "woody" for me.
- Love Potion #9 This one is the only one that I have come across that "feels" like a store bought fragrance. "perfumy"
- Love Potion Three (women's) This one was nice, but turned too powdery on me.
- Love Potion: 11 This is a really nice spring floral with a hint of fruit. There is a soft musky/amber undertone.
- Love Potion: Autumnal Equinox 2008 The vanilla and amber come out strong in this one. I really like it. Soft and spicy.
- Love Potion: Black Absolutely LOVE. One of my favorites
- Love Potion: GREEN A slight green add to the regular LP. Nice and subtle
- Love Potion: Original A nice blend of spice and floral. A very balanced blend with a hint of fruit just barely peeking out every now and then.
- Love Potion: Red Wonderful and warm.
- Love Potion: Summer Solstice 2008 "When wet the melon is a little overwhelming on me. As it dries, the vanilla and amber come forward. It turns to a soft fruity scent with a warm background. Makes me think of a warm summers day at the farmers market.
Fully dry, a little plastiky." - Love Potion: Winter Solstice 2008 smells too plastiky on me
- Manifestation Potion + TAF soft gardenia, very nice
- Me, Jane I feel like a day at the beach! Yummy.
- Medium This one is dark and deep with a light dusting of floral. Very nice. Dries down soft, but not too powdery.
- Miasma Beautiful floral.
- Moon Goddes: Isis All I can say is YUM. If you like amber, you will like this one.
- Mummy Chunks smells just like a warm chocolate chip cookie
- Music of the Spheres nice and dark. My husband loved this one on me.
- Musky Dusky Roses soft and powdery roses
- Musky Dusky Pure adds a softer note to any scent. Good for layering
- Nakai Nectar too much like melon for me
- Nasty Habits yummy amber. Very warm and inviting.
- Native Soil (2008) This is a wonderfully warm scent! The amber and cinnamon are wonderful.
- Nox The raspberry came out on me first, followed by the vanilla and amber. Nice and warm.
- Oidhche Shamhna Smelled just like caramel popcorn
- Persuasion Potion Nice floral with a base of green. The intent is fantastic.
- Phantom of the Trailer Park This one smelled like powdery soap on me.
- Phero Girl: regular sweet and inticing without smelling like candy. Very nice. The amber foundation warms the scent up nicely.
- Phero Girl: Super This one smelled like candy on me.
- Pirate Bumbo Wonderful capture of the carribean without being overly fruity.
- Plaisirs De La Nuit My skin loves cinnamon. This scent was beautiful on me. The carnation adds just the perfect amount of peppery spice and soft floral to this blend.
- Potion 31 smells just like a carrot cake!
- Raven's Secret Weapon The sandalwood comes out strongest on my skin.
- Rocket Chick too strawberry for me.
- Slave to Sin This one was wonderful. Very creamy and deep.
- Smokey Kisses Strong cherry initially and then dies down to a nice smokey scent
- Soul Food Wet, the sandalwood note comes out strong. As it dries down, the cinnamon and resins start to come forward. Very nice and not too strong.
- SouthernGothic 2008 Gardenia came out the strongest for me. A touch too green for my taste.
- Sugared Bonfire Just like roasted marshmellows after a fall rain.
- Sugared Cardamon Will add a nice touch of spice to those that are too floral
- Sugared Cherries strong cherry flavor
- Sugared Coconut Yummy.
- Sugared Dark Berries Nice sweet berry flavor. Nice layering scent for those that are too spicy or bitter.
- Sugared Exotic Nag Champa
- Sugared Honeycomb Smells kind of plastiky on its own initially, then softens up
- Sugared Iced Tea Tea does not do well on my skin
- Sugared Lilies Sweet lillies
- Sugared Pumpkins Too pumpkiny and dark on me
- Sugared Red Berries slightly waxy, but good
- Sugared Roses
- Sultry Afternoon doesn't agree with my skin
- Sweet Valentine The sweet pea adds a nice floral touch to the sweet.
- Synchronicity Beautiful blend of resin and musk. The vanilla comes out first on me and deepens as it dries.
- Tamashi No Tomo The orchid comes out first on me and the lemon/lime is a little too sharp on me initially. It softens into a powdery finish
- Taxed The ylang-ylang is very comforting.
- The Feast of Tabernacles The apple comes out strong on me, followed closely by the peach. Too fruity for my taste.
- 'Til Death... Too woody on my skin.
- Tropical Temptation The mango and peach came out strongest on my skin. A touch too fruity for my taste.
- Turkish Delight Beautiful combo of sugar, spice and rose. Smells just like turkish delight.
- Vain I love the dragon's blood in this one. It softens down into a cozy bed of warm spice.
- Zigeunerwein reminded me of "Happy"
You're crazy!! I've always known it, but this confirms it!
I guess that's why we're such good friends.

At least you didn't say that Turkish Delight smells like team spirit!

Just to clarify, while I do have a nice sized collection (47 bottles right now), I don't actually own all of these scents. This is a list of what I have tried and my little reviews so that I remember what I liked and what I didn't and why. I keep this so that I can compare what notes are in my favorites and least favorites to be able to better judge what will work with my skin.
Yes, I am wierd. However, this little detailed quirk of mine has made me very successful at work... :-).

This is probably because #9 is the only LP which is actually a cologne. I can't wear it myself, although I've had other people comment that they really liked it.
I have the exact same thing except for BPAL. Someone in the BPAL community actually made a spreadsheet template that a lot of people use to keep track of their scents (since there are hundreds). It is incredibly helpful, I agree.

*blushes* thanks everyone. it only took a few minutes to create and then I just spend a few minutes each evening and review what I wore that day. If I am covered in different samples, I have my laptop open and review while sniffing. So, one day it was empty and today I looked at it and went "wow, that's a lot"...
Edited: I have a few trades going on now and will add my reviews of the new ones to the first post and to the review threads both. I added a few tonight. JoAnna and I had a sniff fest. When we get new boxes in, we will schedule a sniff fest (which always involves wine) to cover ourselves in LP scents and see what we need to order and what doesn't work with us. We often order different things, so these little "sniff fests" allow us to broaden our "experience" without spending as much.

If you are interested, I would recommended reading the full review postings before deciding to cast it out of your mix.

Since you have tried almost everything, I have a question. I want a light, floral, spring scent. I like Fairy Massacre. Angel of Spring wasn't sweet enough and Lunantishee was a little to sweet and heavy for spring. Do you have any suggestions or should I wait until February's new release. Thanks!!!

kbudish - Fairy Massacre has these ingredients:Lilac, Honeysuckle, Violet, Roses, Basil, Sweet Dill, Sweet Pea, Daisy, Lily of the Valley, Dandelion, Geranium, Sage & more
Based on that, I think you might like:
- 21st Century Venus: A hint of citrus, a hint of musk, a hint of flora, a hint of oriental spice
- Cuddle Bunny (Scented): Fresh light florals gathered around a base of Waterlillies, bunny soft Cotton, and our cuddly pheromone recipe
- Forever After: Orange Blossom, stephanotis, orchid, rose, sunflower, tulip, daffodil, honeysuckle, primrose, baby's breath, basil
- Happy Water: Blossom of bitter orange, bergamot, ginger, sweet clove, orchid, daffodil, roses, rose hips, ylang ylang, jasmine
- Lady Casanova: Labdanum, calamus, vanilla, tea, orange blossom, sugar, blackberry leaf, iris, rose, clove, cinnamon, rhubarb, grangipani, angelica
- Le Sommeil Des Anges: Lavender, violet, narcissus, jasmine, vanilla, hyacinth, apple blossom, German chamomile
- LP: Spring Equinox 2007: Lily and Lotus blossoms atop a veritable riot of fragrant Freesia, Hyacinth, Sweet Pea, Lilac and Iris
- Miasma: Lily of the Valley and other poisonous florals
- Jewel of the Regency: Jasmine and Rose petals, Bergamot and Neroli, and a wee drop of Almond
- Victim: Honeysuckle, Sweet Herbs, Lilac, Rose, Orchids, greenery, Vetiver, Amber
The rose in Jewel of the Regency is tempered by the citrus in the Neroli. Depending on how your skin works with that reaction... On me, it is really mild. The rose in Victim is very subtle. I love that one.

You are most welcome. It is really helpful for me to see all of my reviews in one place while deciding if a certain scent is going to work well on me. I thought that I would share the info and try to help out other new folks.
There are so many scents, and it is so hard to decide what will work and what won't from an on-line description that I decided pretty early on in my "testing career" with LP to start a spreadsheet and I have just kept it up...

Ahh yes..skin chemistry is another thing to consider when choosing but the thing is I am always surprised when a scent that M, D and A create turns out lovelier than I would have imagined...they seem to have that special touch...but there are other times I really think I would love something and it just does not turn out well on me...but that's the fun part with experimenting..!

If you love aura armor, you might really like Christine's Tropical Musk or anything with bamboo or Heather. Those are the two predominant notes in that scent.

i think the biggest reason a thread like this is very important is because we all know someone on the board with our tastes.
and then there is someone else who has the same scent amped like you...
and then there is someone else who gets the waxy smell from the same scents....
and so on.
when i look at your list,
i begin to think of what we have in common
and i make a mental list of the next ones i might try.

i think the biggest reason a thread like this is very important is because we all know someone on the board with our tastes.
In perfume fandom it's what's known as a "scent twin." There are certain people whose impressions are always a must-read for me because of similar tastes. On the other hand, I'm always curious to read all reviews, just to see how experiences can differ with a fragrance.
