Full Version: Be Very, Very Nice To Me
We have discovered that we have a wee bit of Unscented Popularity Potion Pheromone Formula and also a bit of Unscented Cougar Potion Pheromone Formula...and I mean "ORIGINAL" Cougar Formula. Mara's bottled them each in 5ml bottles in a base of CPS.
In trying to figure out how it would be fairest to give you guys a shot at acquiring them, we decided to have a contest so you could win them. We'll have two winners, but what kind of contest to have?

I dunno....should it be another trivia contest?
OR...set up a special email and let everyone who wants to enter send you an email with a special header and their forum name plus real name and address, establish a specific cutoff of whatever date and time PDT. Then do a drawing based on all the entries. I think that would be simplest way to do it, but of course that's not as much fun as a challenge. But that way, those people who usually aren't online as much would at least have as much of a chance as anyone else.

The whole point in doing stuff for "forum members only" is to reward those that are contributing to our community and making it the special and vibrant place that it has become.

Maybe submitting an essay stating how much they'd like to have one of the bottles? Essay to be no more than a paragraph or four sentences--the essay could also be a poem or hiaku. They could post it and we could vote on the top ones for each type of bottle? That way it would be interactive, would take the heat off you guys, and show how fantastically creative our members are.

Okay I get that, but you could limit it to forum members only by stating that entries had to contain the forum name, and those who do not will be discounted. But if you want it to be "active" forum members then I guess it make sense to run it on the board. I can see where a "creative" contest would be fun, but again, some people may not feel encouraged to participate for the same reason people don't do the trivia contest...they feel they're out of their depth in something like that.

How about one entry in a drawing for every LP you'd like to never see that you come up with? You get two if your entry is judged to be especially vile

I personally suck at the trivia, still compete when I can as I love games!

A couple other ideas are "Internet Scavenger Hunt" ...There are a couple of ways to set this up, one is to have us go to a bunch of random websites and collect info or answer questions. None of it is guided and all use the power of searching the internet.
You could also use a more open scavenger hunt where we have to find things and use our imagination on what you mean, for example:
"find a photo that represents a song by the Rolling Stones"
a possible answer could be a photo of "Route 66"...
This is fun and lets the creative juices flow! As well for those that arent creative, obvious answers are available.

I like the reality show idea the best, as it seems fairest. My computer usage is mostly limited to work for the time being. & our cendant(Wyndham) blocks the stupidest things. Even on the hotel guest setting!!! I don't understand why they can't get on Myspace. I'm excited about a contest w/ a prize this cool!!! What would be a good tiebreaker. Like if they decide to stay together after the show or not? I know nobody could beat my prediction accuracy for VH1s 'Of Love' shows. If we did the reality thing, the tiw breaker would prolly be unrelated to the show. Instead a game of some sort. For example say there were three winners, all would meet wizard on the boards at a certain time and he would get them to do something quick, like: Find a picture on the net with a duck and a clown in it... The first person to post a picture or link to a picture, would win. The real contest is the reality TV show part. the tiebreaker is quick and simple...

OK, great ideas everyone, I especially liked the Reality Show one, as I am a Reality show junkie, (not a proud moment) but we each have our guilty pleasures. Anyway, we have decided to keep things simple so we are going with "Guess my Number". I have decided on a # between 1-1000. The person closest to the #, either above or below takes the top spot and gets the opportunity to select between the two freebies up for grabs. The person who is the next closest gets the other freebie potion. The contest will end at 5pm PST on friday, 7/17/09. Get your # hats on and may the best numerology psychic win.
