  1. Noms! I know I've had disagreements with people over cocoa butter vs. white chocolate, but bear with me! To me, this is very much a cocoa butter rather than a white chocolate scent. It is fatty, a little musky, and a little cool. I think that if this had more sweetness and creaminess I'd see it as a white chocolate, but I am a bit of a white chocolate snob It is not super sweet, but still very warm and round and comforting. It borders on the side of a slightly less rich milk chocolate. I love it
  2. I'm a microbiologist and immunologist, and I work with a lot of mice. One thing that I've noticed is that my mice are always more happy and placid than those of my male colleagues. I always assumed that it was because I was gentler and faster (thus not extending the period of being bothered by humans) than the boys in my lab, until I saw this article; http://www.nature.com/news/male-researchers-stress-out-rodents-1.15106 I'm actually really curious about this and was thinking that if I could get ethics approval it might be worth investigating, as stress is supposed to increase the pathology of most diseases, including the one I work with. Because of this, I was wondering if there were any LPMP pheros that are more of a "standard gender" type of molecule rather than a "hyper sexy" molecule. Any advice is most welcome!
  3. Sugareds are what first got me into LPMP - I'm happy to wait for more future deliciousness!
  4. Kind of a damp, waxy green with a touch of sweetness. Kind of a cousin to daffodils.
  5. It's a good thing that I just got my tax return back
  6. So much stalking! So much excitement!
  7. Rebecca's Something White A heart comprised of a collection of smooth white musks, with little dabs of cucumber and bergamot that give it breadth and dimension. This is pretty, and entirely different from something I would normally wear. In the bottle and when first on the skin I can pick up at least three different white musk notes; a very cool musk, a brighter musk, and a sweet musk underneath. In the bottle it reminds me of the new version of the Body Shop white musk deodorant, but it very quickly becomes a smoother, sweeter and more feminine scent. As it warms up on the skin it's the sweeter white musk that comes to the front. The cucumber gives it a cool feel, rather than the cool musk at the front. I get a smidge of the bergamont - it gives it an almost, but not quite, cirtus edge. It wears pretty close to the skin, so gives me the feel almost of an eau de toilette rather than a perfume. The kind of scent you wear under your clothes rather than on the pulse points. After it settles, it becomes a white musk all of it's own - it is a sweet, sheer white musk that doesn't smell like any other white musk I've worn before. I love it!
  8. Rebecca's Something Green Rebecca wanted something moist and green, so I started with a base of fern, and added a *wet* moss aroma (not dried like oakmoss), and a few extra drops of watery greens like birch leaf and fresh cut stems. A few drops of benzoin in the base give it warmth without making it overtly sweet, and a splash of tangy red currant on top...which is brightest at the beginning, but mellows into the blend evolving into a wistful, fresh nature girl (or boy) aura. This is just so perfect that I am giddy! I generally don't like anything too green because it tends to amp to high heaven, and I can't handle anything that ends up either soapy or with a pronounced 'water' note. Those kinds of scents usually end up as high pitched ozone and migraine-stabbing soap. I *do* like the smell of green plants. When I was very young I lived in Surrey in the UK. Our house was so close to the English countryside that we went on many trips to various woods and forests. I have such a strong scent-memory that even though I've been living in Australia for decades, if I get even the slightest whiff of oak leaves, damp moss and that peaty leaf little scent I immediately flash back to the woodlands where I picked snowdrops and the wilderness behind the (very posh) school I went to. This is the closest I have ever come to a perfume that has that same, evocative cool, damp, green to it. It starts out like freshly cut rose stems. Not the blossom, but that rich green that you get when you prune them. In fact, it has very much the smell that you get at a florist - wet, green, and just a little bit of woodiness. There is just a touch of sweetness that again doesn't exactly smell like roses, but more like the smell from very young white rose petals when you cut or crush them. I can just catch the current when I think about it, but it's used so sparingly that it's just an accent to the perfume rather than as a note in and of itself. I think that the warmth and the sweetness - not a cloying sweetness, but the kind of sweetness from wildflowers after rain - is mostly from the benzoin. It is so very full of scent memory for me that I fell in love as soon as I tried it!
  9. As I understand it, they will probably be permanent, but I could be wrong. A long. long time ago LPMP used to sell a whole lot of sugareds, and I was able to nab a few before they were discontinued. Sugared French Vanilla was one of my favourites! That being said, Sugared Roses, Nag champa, Amber and a few others are permanent scents and you can buy them any time. Of those, I am a huge fan of Sugared Pure - I am big on sweet, foody scents, and I always get compliments when I wear it
  10. I'm hanging out for the sugareds, because GRABBY HANDS. I always prefer simpler scents than a long complicated list of notes.
  11. Such cute labels! I'm super excited! Also, here are my note notes; "Something White - I'm in a mood for a white, clean scent without aquatics or soapiness. I'm thinking something with a heart of white musk, with some sparkliness from bergamont and dampness from cucumber. I adore white musk, and I'm really hanging out for a white musk heavy scent." "Something Green - I think what I'm craving is a moss and fern base with a sweet resin like benzoin and an extra tang of something like red currant."
  12. LP Red and I don't get along, but I was hoping that this would be more like OCCO Red, which works really well on me. I think it's the apricot that is a little too rich for me to wear. This is a nice take on LP Red, though - it's a bit more foody with more of a honey note, and the patchouli behaves itself nicely. If you are a fan of LP Red, I think that you'll love this!
  13. Oddly soapy smelling. Who knows why? It may be bottle shock, or it may be a very white amber. I do like it, but am completely thrown by the fact that it has such a stong soap smell on my skin. If nothing else, chalk it up to wierd skin chemistry.
  14. I can't tell if I like this or not. Lime always throws me... it doesn't matter what perfume it's in, I can never tell if I like a perfume or not if it has lime in it. I'm always leery for any citrus note, but for some reason lime scents always fall in that "I can't tell if I like it or not" category.
  15. This. I am on the verge of a large order, but I feel like I should try to wait until the next release of scents to see if there are any Sugareds in the mix.
  16. I had such high hopes combined with a feeling of doom with this one. A lot of creamy scents (as much as I love them) end up smelling ashy on my skin. The same can happen with cinnamony/spicey notes, too. I was happily surprised that - despite threatening ash at the beginning - it settles down to loveliness. I think I was expecting something more... virile smelling, I suppose. I has more of a buttermilk that butter/cream scent to my nose. It actually has a motherly vibe to it - the MILF kind, not the milk-and-cookies kind. But it's... it's like everything is there, but it is downplayed. It's got that sexy sneakiness to it, like going out to dinner somewhere fancy without wearing any panties. It's subtle in it's own way. The cops can be smelled, but only faintly, and only if you know what to look for. It has more of a teasing, "catch me if you can" vibe than "DO ME KNOW" feel. I like it
  17. This is really lovely on me! "Skye Loves Chocolate" was immediately bitter and acrid on my skin, but Trouble with Truffles plays it much sweeter. Not "POW SWEET" like Special D (my one true love), but a skin-sweet scent. Not full-on sweet, but just sweet enough to give you the slightest sweet aura. I suspect that it's the sugar that makes it sweet, but the nuts that keep it at bay. This is very nice as a not-totally-in-your-face chocolate scent.

    Totem: Chick

I nabbed a sample of this, because butter and cream notes can go terribly wonky on my skin. I have high hopes for it, though!
  19. I am deleriously excited by this! I needed to get more Pan into my life.

    Hungry Heart

This one was a sneaky champion on me. I'm always really leery of brown sugar or maple scents - they tend to drown out every other note - so it took me a long time to try it out. As I experienced other LP scents, though, I've found that if I choose carefully brown sugar and maple can be wonderful on my skin. This is a lighter, less insanely decadent version of Breakfast in Bed. It is amazing on me, and I love it to bits. I think that it's the vanilla that really lifts it, preventing it from being too heavy or rich. I want this boosted with everything! I'm thinking that either with Lace for that innocently decadent feel, or Leather for that "take-no-prisoners" sweet darkness.
  21. Since the update I've gone back to my stock from the long long ago and testing my hoard of layerables. I'm sure that they're not going to be exactly the same, but it makes me squee anyways! <3
