  1. (Note that my impressions are from the Before Times. Have no idea how masking and distancing affect the effects.) I find that both LFN and LFM create a sort of starry-eyed reaction in others. For me, though, LFN seems to get a stronger reaction from women. It's like i suddenly become the queen bee. Other women going out of their way to try to accommodate me or get my approval. Some become downright deferential. I've had several apologize for being in line in front of me, even though they were already there when I arrived, lol. It creates a sort of regal aura that makes others take notice. As for selfish, i tend to feel confident while wearing it. Not necessarily powerful or determined, but capable. Like I can handle adversity.
  2. Thanks for holding it. I'll try to get an invoice in shortly. I am extremely fortunate to currently have power and wifi, but with the storms, the Texas electrical system is not doing well, so I don't know if that will continue. But I VERY MUCH do want that virgin fb of Livng Doll, so if my things on my end take longer that is why.
  3. Is it possible to request a hold on one fb of the VIRGIN Living Doll? I will be sending an invoice in the next day or two. I'll definitely be getting a men's sampler just for fannish purposes! (And also because they sound amazing and I want to try them even if I can't wear them all. ) I've figured the Ozzie description refers to one H. J., but I'm still not sure on some of the others. Tsai? Khave? Bacca Rustica? Anyone know?
  4. I was about to say that when I looked closer, there were other fannish references, too. Think I see at least Lucifer and White Collar. Crocodile Dundee? Eta: and, lol, i would expect nothing less for something inspired by the show
  5. Welcome! I second snatching up a limited edition if you like it. Some go fast. New collections are released several times each year. You picked a good time to get started. "Pherotine" will be coming up soon. That is usually a collection where each scent is enhanced with a different phero. It is a good way to sample a wide variety. The phero enhanced perfumes are at a lesser concentration than the unscented pheros, but still pack quite a punch. (Not sure if it will happen this year, but usually during pherotine, there are smaller bottles of the UN pheros available, too.) The pheros you mentioned seem like a good starting place. Anything with B-nol should help to promote bonding, I believe. One that always makes me feel confidently sexy is Bang or Classy Dame (formerly Super Sexy for Women - SS4W) for a version without cops. La Femme Mystere (LFM) and La Femme Noire (LFN) also tend to get reactions for me. I think it's one of those things where you have to find what works for YOU. Similar to fragrances, finding what makes you feel attractive and passionate. I will say, honey scents, depending on the type, can often be very sexy in a distinctly female way, if you want to try that for a bit of a jump start. Whatever you decide, have fun and enjoy yourself! Oh, and take advantage of the trial sizes! You can sample a lot of different scents that way.
  6. I'd love Steamy Bikini or Mistress Mine. Very different, but both so good. Or Passion & Envy. That one is so great. Guavas in the Mist! Oh, man. Not being able to travel really has me craving something tropical and fruity. A travel collection for all the places we can't go! *wistful sigh* When I'm back to my collection, I'm going to have to copy Luna for a week or two and do themes. A perfume based vacation. The only question is world wide tour or tropical getaway?
  7. Same. I keep going, "It's almost March again! How is it almost March again?" This past year has both flown by and been endless. Excited about Pherotine even though I still need to order the sprays.
  8. Forgot to update that my order made it perfectly to my current location, though I guess the lack of panicked crying made that obvious. And an extra thanks, @Potion Master, you know why.
  9. You know how in every early 2000s remix there's a hype guy in the background constantly repeating the name of the song, or the artist, or even just, "Remix! Remix!" Well, this is Gossamer Threads: the Remix by Sugared featuring Oakmoss and the hype guy spends the whole time going, "Oakmoss! Oakmoss!" (Trying to figure out if there's a bit of lavender in here, or if it's just the Oakmoss that makes my breath catch. My allergies: never fun, but always an adventure. )
  10. @Potion Master Quick heads up. I just sent an email clarification regarding the address for my order. Wanted to make sure you get it before the package is sent out.
  11. Hah! Thanks. I feel like I've described something else as smelling like a pirate bar (at least in my notes, if not an actual review), so apparently I guess I have really strong feelings about how pirate bars should smell.
  12. This is what an Errol Flynn swashbuckling movie smells like. Or, rather, I'm not sure that 'what you would expect a pirate bar to smell like if they smelled good, instead of what pirate bars probably actually smelled like' is technically a perfume category, but is in my mind. And Rum Woody very much fits that vibe. There's something in this that reminds me of the beginning of The Pirate and the Maiden, which is where I think I'm getting the association. Rum Woody is masculine, but still remains unisex enough to wear if you don't mind wearing masculine scents. It's feminine enough to not be unwearable. I get a blast of cedar when it's wet, but it quickly calms down to blend with the other notes as it dries. It's definitely more of a traditional men's cologne scent. Hearty and rich, but not overbearingly so. There's an aura of solidity and reliability, maturity without being stale. Classic, but not staid. A hint of freshness livens it up enough to allow a woman to wear this by providing a touch of the unexpected. I think it is that hint of freshness that creates contrast and really makes it stand out. It's invigorating, yet smooth. It has a background of spice, but I wouldn't classify it as a spicy scent. Likewise, it has something that has an almost watery feel, but I wouldn't classify it as aquatic. (Though I think that may be part of what's giving me pirate bar vibes. That and the wood.) (And spice.) In both cases, I think the other notes shape the character more. I would love this on a guy, but I also love it on me.
  13. Mmmmmmmm. Rich, sweet tobacco, and spices. Not too spicy, though. On the whole, very nicely balanced. The pumpkin makes it feel very autumnal. I'd say it's uniseix, veering slightly towards masculine, but still easily wearable for a woman. It's what you expect from the notes, but a touch sweeter. I think that sweetness is what allows it to be more unisex. As it fades, the tobacco remains the strongest note, while the pumpkin starts to overtake the spice a little. I know I'm repeating myself, but it's just a really deep, rich, fall scent. I love it.
  14. This is another that's really unexpected. Up close, I get the bright tart blueberries, while further away, it's more pepper. I also get some of the myrrh up close as well. I really like the blueberry and myrrh combo, but I find the pepper makes it slightly unpleasant to me. I think this is one of those where the pepper absolutely makes it or breaks it for you. If you're a big pepper fan, you'll probably like this. If you aren't, it's a prominent note that is very noticeably there. And I shook it really well, too. After a while the pepper isn't quite as intense, but is still strong enough to tickle my nose. (I really do like that blueberry/myrrh combo, though. So close to loving this, yet so far.)
  15. I would describe this as a nice, thick, marshmallow scent that has a burnt edge like it's been in front of a fire, backed by the sweetness of vanilla. It's foody, but not too foody, with a controlled sweetness. I'm not getting the other notes strongly as individuals, but they are creating a background pillowy depth. It's not terribly long lasting on me, but I still get hints of smoky sweetness.
  16. I cannot wait to see how LP: Candied Apple ages! I have a feeling it is going to be divine. It starts off very bight with the apricot and raspberry. (This is the part I think will be most affected by the aging. I expect it to become both a little muted and also richer.) The apple is a very tart one. Or maybe it's the other fruits making it seem that way, but either way tart fruitiness. It's so bright, it is almost shiny. As it dries down, the sweetness and depth start to emerge. This helps make it more well rounded. The raspberry goes a bit play doh, as it is wont to do on my skin, but only mildly, and doesn't detract from the scent. The long, long dry down is fabulous.
  17. Soul Cakes is very sweet and baked goods like. I amp maple a lot, so on me it was pretty strong. I also get some of the spice. It's very thick, rich, and custardy. Very foody. With the maple, it's almost too sweet, like eating too much cake, but I think if maple isn't a problem for you, it would be fine. It reminds me a lot of walking past the bakery section in a supermarket. Not a regular bakery, but very specifically a supermarket bakery. No, I have no idea what the difference is, but I FEEL it. Lol. After about 30 minutes, it calms down a little and rides out the rest of its time as a lightly spiced maple.
  18. I'm a sucker for currant, so unsurprisingly, I really like Platelet Punch. Wet, there is a surge of bright currant. As it begins to dry down, the chocolate backs it up to give it a bit of body. The clover keeps it from being too sweet. (I find clover does that a lot in Mara's creation. It often acts as a balancer. At least, on me.) The clover also gives it an interesting kick, and steers it slightly towards a bath product feel. It's very nice. The raspberry starts to raise its head. It reminds me a bit of a raspberry lotion that I had ages ago. Possibly b&bw, but I don't remember. Raspberry can often turn to play-doh on my skin, but it didn't in this. It stayed nice and fruity. Speaking of notes my skin can do wonky things to, the amber stayed pretty chill, as well. Through the long, long dry down, the fruit remained at the application points on my inner elbow, but the other notes took forefront on my wrists.
  19. Friendly Ghost was really unexpected. It starts off lemon over something plant like. Around 10-15 minutes later, the resins start to get louder. It's kind of heavy, but not super heavy. As it wears, I mostly smell the dragon's blood and sandalwood, with occasional bursts of brightness. Oddly enough, it makes me really sleepy.
  20. I get the alcohol and the carb-iness of the oats. That sort of carb/starch note reminds me of Warm and Toassty, and even a bit of Nekomusume, but it is fresher than either of those thanks to the other notes. There's something I'm reading as almost anise-like, but I'm not sure what it is. At first, the elements seem sort of disparate, but once the clove comes out, it's starts to bring the scent together more. It's intriguing, but not enough of a me scent that I want to wear it all day, so no full bottle. It's a good example of how a fragrance can very much have a personality and a voice of its own, though.

    Enivrant

Enivrant is bright and fruity, but also creamy and sweet. It's very summery, like eating sorbet in the sun. The aloe gives it a fresh quality. It can be the teensiest bit too bright up close, but if that's a problem, I think it could be solved by pairing it with a more coconut scent, which would go beautifully with this. The label is perfect because it really does feel very orange and bright yellow. A cheerful, sunny fragrance. It makes me want to lay out on a beach and bask in the sun's heat, then jump in the water to cool off and splash around. Then do it all over, again. As the top notes burn off, the brightness fades and the musk and teak emerge. They turn this more into a summer evening scent. Still really nice, just more subdued and wearing closer to the skin.
  22. There's an initial blast of almond that within a few minutes gives way to more creaminess. Then...nothing. I even added more because I just wasn't getting much of anything. That didn't really help. I can smell it in the bottle, but once it hits my skin it dies down pretty quickly. I have to be 3 inches from the application point to smell anything. And when I get that close, it's mostly soap. Finally, after an hour, I started to get a bit of powdery honey that ready as soapy. I think a guy could get away with it, if his skin could get anything from it. Caveat: I haven't tried this recently, so I don't know how it's aged. I'm just going on my previous notes, here.
  23. Aqua Tofana is unique. An herbaceous licorice. It's lively and peppy. I was surprised it's in the women's section, because I would consider this quite unisex. In fact, I think I'd like it better on a guy than on me. It's very interesting, and I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist, even though it's not a "me" scent. I'd describe it as plant-y with a kick, overlayed by a sweet licorice that isn't too licorice-y. An outdoorsy scent. I'm intrigued, but I have no idea where I'd wear it. It feels like the kind of scent I would wear if I gardened a lot. As if I should be planting vegetable beds in it. It's just so unexpected that every time I sniff it, it confounds my brain. Not in a bad way, just in a "What?" way. Additionally, there's an unexpected sweetness you wouldn't guess from looking at the notes. I know some people hate the phrase "very unique", but the only way to accurately describe it is very unique.
