Stage magic is a venerable tradition; it's interesting to note that the earliest written record of magic for entertainment purposes goes all the way back to 1700 BCE, Egypt, which is a written account of stories dating back to the 20th century BCE; 4,000 years ago! And a trick acknowledging those ancient origins is Sands of the Nile, last made popular by illusionist Doug Henning, involving the mixing together of various colors of sand into a bowl of water, which are then miraculously extracted and restored dry into separate piles of their original colors. This is our ode to this trick and the magic of ancient Egypt...a mixture of ingredients sacred to the Egyptians, most of which could be found in the Nile River Valley. A mesmerizing mingling of smooth oakmoss and sandalwood, with refreshing accents of bamboo, Egyptian mint and neroli. The scent is polished with a sandy aspect, and smells absolutely magical on both women and men.

OAKMOSS ~ Luck enhancing, financial success, protection, charity. Parental love.
SANDALWOOD ~ Love, exotic, sensual atmospheric; aphrodisiac. Healing, spirituality, exorcism.
BAMBOO ~ Protection, hex breaking, luck and wishes, fertility, wisdom, feminine energy.
EGYPTIAN MINT ~ Stimulates, energizes and uplifts. Love, purification, healing, psychism, creativity. Protects the home.
NEROLI ~ Sensual, relieves tension & anxiety; quells apprehension, encourages a shy lover, confidence building.

The Golden Age of Magic collection, April 2013

The Golden Age of Magic

This set of fragrances pays homage to the golden age of the stage magicians, which took place during the epoque of the Gilded Age right up to the advent of the Roaring Twenties (roughly between 1880 and 1920); when the creations of new technology were so astounding they indeed seemed indistinguishable from magic and its practitioners were among the first to take advantage of the harnessing of electricity, projection of images, and transmission of radio waves to enhance their performances and amaze audiences worldwide.

To give these potions a further mesmerizing aura, we have included a swirl of highest quality cosmetic grade glitter in each bottle, and the labels for this set feature depictions of the actual magicians and/or their vintage advertising artwork.
