Recommended Posts

Amazing images from our guest artist of the month, Shannon Stamey!

Shannon says of himself: "Self-taught, traditional illustrator from rural North Carolina. Inspired, in large part, by the Golden Age greats, film, blustery mornings, late nights and my record collection."

The following are available as 11x14 prints!

Baby Boo, Ebil-ish, Elume, Espiritual, Mangelwurzel, Mommy's Little Monster, Moondust Cocoa, Soul Food, Z-Day.

11"x14" prints start at $50.

Anyone interested in prints can contact Shannon on Facebook or on Instagram under "October Illustrations".

I encourage you all to go have a look. He has many amazing pieces to peruse, and some fabulous comic book /superhero artwork too. Not to mention, he's adorable, a work of art himself, so go ogle.

I’m excited!  Can’t wait for the descriptions. Yay?

I’ve not tried previous versions of ebil-ish, but will rectify that as soon as I can. :Mara_makin_Magick:

After looking at so many images with Mara as we narrowed down the selections, this guy is insanely talented, y'all - I hope you enjoy his work as much as we do!

There are several attempts at humor with the titles, but I bet you can figure them out. Any guesses what's in these?

Unbeleafable ... dry autumn leaves? And some spices?

Moondust cocoa ... hmmm I just don’t have a clue

He might make some prints available of his work too. :D

I’d love that!  The anatomy on soul food, the play of light and shadow on her back is perfection.

@Eve no Gravenstein? Label made me think of you! And Ebil-ish is a damn good time.

I do love a gnarled tree, but the moon ones draw me in!

Yes, Ebil-ish has been referred to so much. I have to try.

mangelwurzel (plural mangelwurzels)

  1. A root vegetable, variety of Beta vulgaris, cultivated chiefly as cattle feed.

Hmmmmm. A beet, grown for feeding cattle?

My guess on this one is pumpkin and caramel corn. (Beet sugar on that corn.)

I was thinking some kind of pumpkin beer type thing because of the German beer of the same name. Probably a bit too literal though

All of these are great, but I especially love the art for Espiritual (great pun, btw), Rain Flower, Ebil-ish, Elume, and Moondust Cocoa. And, since I love apple, I am really excited to find out the notes for Gravenstein.

ETA: And, while it's not in all of them, I like the recurring moon theme.

I know we're not playing the game, but I was so awfully wrong last time I wanted to see if I can get any closer this time.

My guesses-

Espiritual - lily, white musk, black currant, raspberry, amber

Mangelwurzel - pumpkin, brown sugar, butter, caramel corn/popcorn, patchouli

Rain Flower - alyssum, geranium, chrysanthemum, aloe, teakwood, musk, ylang ylang, water accord

EBIL-ish! - sexy, spicy vanilla, obviously

Gravenstein - apple, earth, oud, tobacco, woods, spice

Elume - vanilla, orchid, honey, amber, myrrh, sandalwood

Baby Boo -  vanilla, berries, fig, maple, cream, sugar, lemon

Z-Day! - pumpkin, caramelized sugar, butter, nuts, maple, resins, patchouli

Mommy's Little Monster - apple, cream, nuts, oats, butter, dark sugars, lemon, lavender, cinnamon

Moondust Cocoa - cocoa, brown sugar, musk, nuts, cream, espresso, amber

Unbeleafable - dry leaves, oud, woods, earth, resins, musk, pecan, smoke
Soul Food - I dunno but I bet it's good. Unless it's oats.

@Eastwood22-We ALWAYS play the game, and you are pretty close on several! :D

Nice! I was so happy to see this thread when I got home. I have to place an order for a friend and I've been dismayed that I didn't "need" anything for myself. I wasn't expecting these for at least another week.

Okay, I’m back. Last night I was knackered. (East coaster here)

More guesses at the notes:

Mommy’s Little Monster:

Labdanum

Milk

Vanilla chai

Gravenstein:

Hard apple cider

stout

smoke

oak

Moondust Cocoa:

cocoa

powdered sugar

amaretto

A dollop of cream

...This is actually what I’d like to drink haha...more later, I’m going to mull over them while I try to convince the dog to eat so he can get his insulin. Mornings = no fun around here.

Stamey is amazing! I have the great honour of considering him a friend and am fortunate to have several of his prints. Not only is he incredibly talented, he's crazy funny and very intelligent.

My husband, who is in publishing, has the piece Mara chose for Mommy's Little Monster hanging in his office. The prints are gorgeous. His paintings are exquisite.

Having an olfactory representation of his artwork is going to be such a gift.

Lucky you!  And your husband ?

(Funny and intelligent are two of my most favorite traits)

...back to the Moondust Cocoa ?...  does it have mica in it?

Soul Food rebrew Woot!!!

I can't wait to get my hands on some Ebil-ish, it will be my first time. :)

If these don't exist then they really should:

Espiritual - lily, white musk, black currant, raspberry, amber

Rain Flower - alyssum, geranium, chrysanthemum, aloe, teakwood, musk, ylang ylang, water accord

Gravenstein - apple, earth, oud, tobacco, woods, spice

Elume - vanilla, orchid, honey, amber, myrrh, sandalwood (although I would adore something similar without sandalwood because my skin amps it like you can't believe - a good 24 hours and all I can smell is sandalwood with most LP's)

The labels absolutely do not disappoint!  Excellent Weenie picks!

I want to purchase the itty bitty samples of Autumn 2018 scents.

That's just for the PE samplers; the sample set for a seasonal collection is in the full-size trial vials.

The labels are beautiful! I can't wait to try EBIL-ish and Moondust Cocoa. Looking forward to seeing the notes! Are some of them pheroed?

Elume has Perfect Match, Mommy's Little Monster has Mother's Little Helper and Rain Flower has hedione.

No added shimmer, sorry!  I came up with that name based on the image we decided to use.

I was up late bumping around in the forum archives of past versions of Ebil-ish and finding out it's vanilla/spice based and I deff will be sampling that along with Moondust Cocoa... After you dropped that Occo: coco cocoa I've been a Cocoa whore ever sense :rofl222:  Now my OCCO has a potential partner in crime. I thought I was going to have to settle for Caramel musk or English toffee from the sugared collection. But those two will be on the back burner... For now.

Oh my! This one really caught my attention! Hmmmmm Cocoa... ?

Same here. Will it be an ethereal cocoa? A translucent musk with cocoa? Pixie dust with cocoa? I can’t wait to smell it.

So far these are on my "to buy" list especially if Eastwood is right about the notes

Moondust Cocoa

EBIL-ish

Gravenstein

Unbeleafable

Elume

Z-Day (Don't know why, but I love the little kid on this one. There's just something sweetly innocent about it)
