Luna, that story was really good! You should write a whole book based those two characters. I really didn't want to stop reading!

Awww, thanks ladies! I spent a bit trying to figure out which part of the story to tell because, yes, it was emerging in greater form.

1st: Luna! Your vocabulary alone is orgasmic! :in-love: (does that sound queer, because I absolutely mean it even if it does!) I'm a sucker for the written word - and that was glorifyingly well written! I absolutely loved reading the morsel you shared and would TOTALLY buy the book!

Ok, 2nd, tearing myself away from that tantalizing tidbit...I want this one BAAAAAAAAD. I admit, I'm concerned about the lemon, but I cannot WAIT to get my greedy little mitts on this one!

Well thank you! I was going for a particular style, a depiction that was quoting high fantasy and so forth, and it needs a certain effect of language.

Concur with everyone else... loved the direction of your story Luna. They definitely need a reappearance somewhere soon!!

This is probably the one I most look forward to. Can't wait to try it!! It strikes me as a Valentine's "Let us make mad passionate love followed by you making me breakfast" sort of scent.

Would anyone be willing to offer what it is that lemon is intended to add to a scent? Is it a brightener? Something to add lightness or something crisp to the ooey thickness of, say a maple, sugar, amber combo? :D

I think lemon does brighten thick scents a bit. Without it it would probably be a little bit like Rocket Fuel ( not a bad thing but a lighter brighter version isn't bad). I can't wait to smell it with a bit of lemon. I can handle lemon but amp lemon grass to no end...the oddities of body chemistry.

I have in the past added a touch of lemon flavoring to pancake syrup and it was very good. I have also added a touch orange juice to the eggs for french toast...yummeh!!! ( The orange juice idea came from a lady who ran a bed and breakfast. It was very good and she shared that with me)

Lemon, & citrus notes in general brighten sweet scents & keep them from becoming cloying.

Nutrix, I couldn't agree more. I am totally "queer for the written word" and Luna, your's are just... WOW. Luna, if words were sex, then you would be a total porn star or tantrika, or BOTH!!! Just saying, I am not even sure that this potion is the right one for me, but your writing makes me WANT it!!! Don't know if I will end up going with this one I will go with, but you sure do make it tempting. I am going to go stalk you now by going and checking out your blog to see if you have anything published! If you do, I must have it!

Thank you Irish Eyes & Beccah! It appears that I HAVE been learning a bit about notes since I've been here after all! At least I understand what it's supposed to do... now...if I can just get my mitts on it so that I can experience it with my senses...waiting is SO hard! :)

Is its greater form available for devouring at this point? *wipes away a spot of drool*

How evocative of the cold, bright moon!

The name is spot on for the scent. On my skin, the notes are lemonmaple -- yes, one word and in that order. The touch of amber is a gravitational force holding the notes together so everything doesn't fly off into the void.

It's a very simple, but not a bit simplistic, scent. I bought it FB outright, and am very glad I did. There's something about this one that leaves me . . . contemplative.

This is the one I most wanted! JD, does it seem a lighter scent or richer/deeper? It seems like the lemon would lighten it up but I can't picture the combo with maple which I find tends to give some body and depth to scents (on me). Can't wait to try this out. Can't wait!!

Oh I should have just bought an FB! This is divine! It's bright and sugary but there is something ethereal and cool about it. Moon Sugar Candy is definitely an appropriate name for this.

I'd say this is more light, like fresh lemonade with a sugared rim with that dark maple hiding in the background, giving it more depth. The lemon isn't stabby. It's sugared rather than tart.

Eta: the more is settling, the more the amber is coming out. This is subtle-sexy.

The lemon in this is less prominent and less lemongrassy than the one in Rebecca's moon sugar. It's that hard candy lemon drop lemon, NOT POINTY at all, "make your teeth hurt" sweet. In "feel" it actually reminds me more of things like lady frost and even looking glass than Rebecca's moon sugar!

It's so strange. When I first rolled this on, there was instant lemon, instant maple. I couldn't picture for my nostrils before how JD described LemonMaple but after trying it, I can't think of a better description. What makes it strange though is that for the briefest of moments, it was almost like there was a hint of ozone. It could be the lemon because I agree with you Tyvey, it really does feel like lemon drop candies. It just struck me as momentarily... can't describe it, other-worldly? Like an unexpected breeze that catches your breath.

After drying down, I got more of the maple than lemon but it still feels light and very close to my skin. I think the lemon is the star of this show but the maple gives it this real sense of balance.

OHMYGOODNESS! I will HAVE to wear this Wed! When I get everything tonight (hopefully!) I will HAVE to sniff all of them, lol, but I will have to wait for them to acclimate after their grueling journey....but I won't be able to NOT at least snuffle them in the vials!

Love the idea of this, it's sweet w more maple than sugar, the amber and lemon lift this scent giving it an ethereal feel. I'm a tad sensitive to the lemon note here so I hope it doesn't amp up of time. Overall a romantic stroll in the moonlight scent.

One word - LOVE!

LOVE!LOVE!LOVE!LOOOOOOOOVE! And I've only smelled it in the vial...but I want to pour it on the floor, get naked and roll in it like catnip and...if it weren't so cold....run naked, delirious with delight through the streets.

Than is all.

for now...

I was naturally the most excited about this scent in the latest releases ;)

Compared to my PE, this goes on much smoother and rounder. The lemon isn't sharp, but it is bright. The brightness dims to a nice glow behind the amber and sugar after a few minutes. My skin is notoriously finicky, however, and unlike my PE this ends up being a little ashy. I've always been curious as to what exactly is the note that turns ashy on my skin, so I'll be paying attention to the extra notes on this one.

This is officially my favorite of the collection, it's the only one which wears on me perfectly without doing Weird Things, and it is beautifully crystalline and sweet. The maple isn't what I expected at all, I think it blends with the amber to provide a whole other characteristic. The lemon is glittery but it mellows after a bit and they do twine together, much like Selene and her dark stranger (I'm working on another scene to share).

Ok! Freshly showered and testing this and Poudre de Bourdons. The maple is right there out of the vial and very up front but at first the lemon is right there with it, very bright. Not sure if I'm reading tart or sour?, just for an instant, but a sugary maple quickly takes center stage and...Mmmm...that amber is adding to the chewiness of the whole thing! This is SOOOOOO good...I can feel my eyes glaze over with every snuffle...

Needless to say, this is a Calii scent...rich creamy lemon is forward,so far, and every bit as gorgeous as Tea-less Strumpet on me nom nom nom yumz. I have too many of the NR's on now and my nose has timed out,but I expect this to be a FB,it makes me smile :)

This one stayed true to that deep maple, sugary amber. The lemon brightens it but I never thought it was tart or sour in any way - but the TRULY awesome thing was that in the a.m. I could still smell it faintly...and it still rolled my eyes back!

Wet, this very much reminded me of a lemon drop, with the maple sugar and creme brulee accord lending an irresistible sweetness and creaminess that is absolutely delicious. But the lemon fades away fairly quickly, and the maple starts to amp on me, so all I'm left with is maple pancake syrup. :frown:
