  1. Something stands out in this that I can't identify... perhaps the lotus (?) Admittedly I don't think I know how a lotus actually smells. That being said, it still is one of my top 4 in the NR, and I layered it with Sugared Bamboo (which I ADORE) and it's moved into the possible FB category for me.

All of these NRs are so different (IMHO) I've been with LP long enough now that when I smell NR's I my mind often immediately makes an olfactory link to another LP that's similar. But this time around so many of them are completely unique on me. How Mara continually comes up with new lovelies is amazing.

  2. I really like this 'vintage' of OA... but it doesn't last on me long at all. I'm definitely going to need to layer this one with something else yummy to help it hang on.

I do get the major cherry wet... then a nutty vanilla... then the patch arrives and runs everything else off. But even the patch doesn't stay long on me.

Still, a BIG fan of OCCO Ambrosia. Improves my mood during the dog days of summer in Texas :hammock1:

  3. I had very high hopes for this one because I'm quite anxious to test the hedion hypothesis. I know I applied waaaay too much (for me) because the floral aspect really slammed me up against the wall. I'm not one to lean towards florals anyway, but I would say this one has a lot of 'throw' ... resident phero-guru Halo I believe told me that hedione definitely helps with that. IMO I smelled like my grandmother - heady jasmine - just not "me". HOWEVER (you knew this was coming) I do want to try it later, after a bit of aging (and be considerably more delicate in my application). This might be a good one to layer with some yummy sugared or fairy cake that will help it lean a bit more "foody" for me. I can be swayed....

  4. It's beautiful and summery the way Crayons: Gamboge is, but not as sweet, much more sophisticated and sensual.

I have to agree here Luna, and this is a perfect comparison (Gamboge). I can actually wear this one whereas Gamboge went pineapple LIfesavers candy on me. Not to dis Lifesavers pineapple (as I know some of you have fond childhood memories of that one!) but it just didn't work for me. That being said, pineapple does funny things on my skin and I'm going to let this one settle a bit before deciding whether to go FB or not.

  5. IRL they smell ammmmmaaaaazzzzziing. My favorite real life floral scent next to freesia.

I realize this is The Most Useful Review Ever Written. I will be waiting patiently by the front door for the prizemobile.

Yes Tyvey. Do you want that in a lump sum payment or cash annuities? :moneyfairy13:

I am really curious about this one. It is pointy? I love how peonies look in real life but I don't remember them being fragrant.

LV I don't think it's pointy... the sugared version anyway. Next time we swap remind me to decant for you. I can't do a lot of florals - like Mag or Lily or (Big Honkin) Roses. But this one for some reason doesn't scream flower girl on me.

  6. I don't think I've ever seen a black pepper EO... Need to google (and just WATCH it come up at some shop with dozens of other things I can't "live" without!) I do have to try this tincture though... Something besides all the pastry/bakery scents in my diffuser that are too easy to default to (lack of creative courage)

  7. Ylang Ylang & Black Pepper is awesome, too.

    And Mandarin + BP.

Now Ylang-Ylang is a switch! Up to now I've just looked at fruit combos but this makes total sense Eggers. And I think I have sugared Y-Y and STILL haven't layered it!
  8. I keep swearing I won't buy PE's... and then...they come out!

I did it with at least one! ,Once notes are posted, I might end up doing even more damage!!!!

I'm right there with you both….LOL

There's always that promise (to self) that NEXT time I WILL be strong and avoid temptation, or at LEAST limit myself when the next PE wave hits.

But then the labels go up & I realize I'm only BS-Ing myself. Oh well, we may all be on an episode of "HOARDERS: the LP EDITION" soon but the film crew will be delighted to spend all day in the midst of such olfactory nirvana.

  9. My reservations stand can I please be added to alternate for mama lion and I will also take a milfy!

Dang LV... I was sitting in the mall parking lot at 7:15p thinking "SURELY LV wants a Mama Lion but hasn't checked in..." I mean, there are two obvious Mama Lions here (you & hearts!). I should've acted on that instinct and asked for 2 JIC... Lucky for you though there are a few here that have your feline back!

THANK YOU MARA. This thread kinda reminded (and exhausted) me like the SALE posting frenzy. I can't fathom how you DO all this and NOW have the Magical Mystical LP brick & mortar baby to care for too. You go above and beyond and amazingly keep it all together and STILL maintain the cool rocker chick persona.

  10. You can't necessarily think of it in such a literal fashion - what pepper does is add a quality which is very interesting, IMO.

Great point Luna. I love black pepper so much that I immediately identified it... but when I (covered the label) and asked two friends they couldn't ID the sugared version. Naturally, when I said "It's black pepper!" THEN suddenly they got it. So yes, it is unusual and I don't have to walk around with a nametag that says "...it's black pepper" to inform those that smell me!

I like orange and even cherry with black pepper.

Thanks Halo :) I have both Sugared Orange & Cherry so I'm game to try both those. :w00t:

  11. I hate to repeat, but I also think editing an earlier post might be more confusing :Emoticons00810:

    Jennifer's Summer Shine

    Lina's Cherry Rum Yum

(Cheeseburgers) Sweet Nova... these 3 are from yesterday.

I'd also like a bottle of

Lina's Mama Lion (you can delete the post 2 up from here if you want) Thanks Mara!

  12. Of all the vanilla sugareds, this one is the most like a heady perfume on me. I tried layering it with some others and it totally dominated the blend, much like Guerlain's spiritueuse double vanille which is very elegant but strong. It's nice, but I really love Sugared Vanilla Bean as an all-around perfect layerable vanilla that enhances, rather than bulldozes over anything else I have on with it.

  13. Usually can't 'do' Mag... goes really loud on me. However, I got a decant of this from Bella and in a WTH moment dabbed it on - the sugared factor really does take the edge off. Not that I'd wear it alone, but I might be able to blend this one pretty easily.

  14. This has GOT to be the secret to why I do love Nola, Sugared Moondust and Abby Normal's... Mara's description is spot on. I love the way she makes 'nutty' scents not scream NUTS, but just be a seductive, salivating ingredient in a virtual scent pastry.

  15. I feel so weird being drawn to wear this... I mean who would have thought it'd be nice to smell like black pepper? Still clueless as to what to pair it with - I know I put black pepper on just about every kind of FOOD but there's got to be something that would just make this a magical pairing. :perfecto:

  16. This one, on me anyway, is a lighter, gentler variant of Nola or Abby Normal's... I find it very comforting and could see layering it with something to tone down the sweetness a bit. Same goes for Nola or ANDB... I have to REALLY be in that sweet-pastry-pecan praline kind of mood or my teeth start to hurt!

  17. Ooh I'm going to try this with Ambrosia right now!

do you have any more lusty cherry? Or did I buy your only bottle? On me, combining it with Ambrosia is remarkably close to Wendy's Hot & Humid, which you know I love. I suppose it takes just the right amount of each...The unusual thing is that the ingredients are not even similar I think.
  18. This one has been a real surprise love for me... just checked one of my two bottles and it is 3/4 gone. It's definitely not a "Hmmm what smells good?" whisper of a scent. "Chewy" is a great adverb for this... it is a bad sexy hypnotic blend. Tyvey if you haven't done so already, you need to have a reference 'cookbook' of PEs... you (and the Master Mara) have come up with some killer elixirs. Quite intimidating to those of us who are timid PE virgins (me)...

  19. I just wanted to report that Key Lime Kiss has aged spectacularly -- last week I had it on several days in a row and I can report that it is slightly richer, slightly brighter, slightly creamier, and all out wonderful. Also, my mother stopped me at the door one night and said, "What are you wearing? It's WONDERFUL" and when I reminded her that she had loved it when I got it last year but declined a bottle, said she didn't know what she was thinking and she needed her own supply pronto. She agreed with me that not only is this one of the most delicious foodie scents ever concocted, it has some powerful emotional nostalgic juju going on. So I was forced to dip into the hoard. Thank god I overbought on this one!

In complete agreement BC. I've been reaching for it lately... everyone (from my 10 yo nephew to my 90 yo mom) remarks about how "goooood" I smell. Layering it with OCCO Ambrosia is sooo sexy... also with Spring's Lusty Cherry and (add sexy UN of choice). Really a mood booster :)

    :kisses:
