Ever notice how some chocolate-type scents smell like cocoa, others like milk chocolate, others like rich chocolate syrup? I've smelled a lot of chocolate scents over the years, which is why it's so surprising that this one really does smell like fudge. Seriously, one whiff takes me back to being a little kid, coming home on a cold night, and my parents stirring up fudge in the kitchen. I can see the old, scarred dish we used, feel the way thin, dark slivers crumbled in my hand . . . Wow. This is a reminder of why I love perfume in the first place. What an old and powerful memory, all because of oil in some little vial.
  3. Smoky sugars and a richness, almost like chocolate. I wore this stuff all day; it had great staying power and throw. First trial of the new monthly batch, and I'm already smiling. See?
  4. I was not going to order anything else for a while . . . But this week I've been wearing Verhext over and over again. I have been completely seduced by this scent. Usually every fall I'm wearing the super-sweet foodie stuff. Not to mention . . . Leaves? Patchouli? I would never have picked this if it hadn't come in last year's autumn sampler. But it has just won me over. LOVE.
  5. I love, love, LOVE the art for this whole series. There's a reason that autumn is my favorite LPP time . . . Because it's made of awesome!
  6. I really liked this one! Very rich, very sweet. I was wearing it the other day because it seemed like the perfect thing to brighten up a literally "Snowbound" day . . . But I made the mistake of putting the sample in my pocket for later. *facepalm* Well, I smelled great at least . . . And now so does my cell phone!
  7. I definitely get the clove. It's not sharp, but it's warm and very nice. I think that's why it reminds me so much of Gothic Xmas.
  8. Gretna Green Our scented tribute to the famous Scottish town of "runaway marriages", Gretna Green, whose official symbols include several plants we associate with the Holiday Season, most notably, Mistletoe! A romantic scent for encouraging kissing, and more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Magickal Meanings of Ingredients: MISTLETOE ~ Protection, love, fertility, health, exorcism. EVERGREENS ~ Fertility, purification, strength, rejuvenation, calming and soothing, healing, protection, money, long life. FIG ~ Wisdom, fertility, love, luck, protection, aids restful sleep, divination. Feminine sexuality. STEPHANOTIS ~ Promotes happiness in marriage, stimulates desire to travel. ORANGE BLOSSOM ~ Strong 'magnet' to attract men; eternal love, marriage, fruitfulness, thoughtfulness, happiness, tribute. JONQUIL ~ Love, affection returned, desire, sympathy. HEATHER ~ Admiration and beauty; protection, especially over women and virtue. Peace, beginnings, elemental magic, wishes granted. HONEY ~ Enticing, seductive; use to bewitch a straying or hesitant lover. Happiness, fulfillment. FERMENTED ALCOHOLS: WINE, BEER, HARD LIQUOR, ETC ~ Intoxicant, used as an offering or appeasement for Gods, used in love spells, and celebratory spells. MILK/BUTTER/CREAM ~ Nurturing, soothing, eases troubled relationships. Goddess energy. CLOVER ~ Protection, preservation of youth, fidelity. Healing, soothing, luck. BALSAM ~ Fertility, purification, strength, rejuvenation, calming and soothing, healing, protection, money, long life. MUSK ~ Self confidence and strength, sexual attractant, heightens passions and arousal. AMBERGRIS ~ Increases personal power, heightens sexual responses, dreaming. VANILLA ~ Aphrodisiac, inspires happiness, playfulness, sexual arousal, lust, vitalizing. CINNAMON ~ Male sexual stimulation, passion, lust, healing, protection, energy, creativity, psychic powers. PATCHOULI ~ Soothes and uplifts; sensual, sexually stimulating, lust, fertility, money. Meditative and transforming. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our lovely Scottish green scent features a heart of Mistletoe (and its white berries are symbolized by a hint of ambergris), within a beautiful wedding bouquet of stephanotis (a traditional marriage blossom), bluebell, heather and wild clover, then made sweet and celebratory with a toast of honey mead to the happy couple. Full list of notes: MISTLETOE, EVERGREENS, FIG, STEPHANOTIS, ORANGE BLOSSOM, JONQUIL, HEATHER, HONEY, FERMENTED ALCOHOLS, MILK/BUTTER/CREAM, CLOVER, BALSAM, MUSK, AMBERGRIS, VANILLA, CINNAMON, PATCHOULI Don't let the list of notes scare you; Gretna is a light and joyous fragrance, but with a lovely depth. Sometimes I'm afraid of the "green" Yule-time scents, and I even had a blend named "Mistletoe" from another company once that really did not work for me at all. Gretna Green, on the other hand, is everything I would want from a mistletoe scent. The green is there, and there's a touch of earthiness, but it's just so balanced and pleasant. There is so much sweet foodiness this December update that I'm wonderfully overwhelmed. But don't overlook the Gretna Green!
  9. Something about this reminds me of the long-gone Gothic Xmas. The ingredient list is very different (Gothic was "Spiked Egg-Nog and Hot Buttered Rum, Figgy Pudding, Roasted Chestnuts, Boughs of Holly, Ivy and Fir") but wow, it's got that creamy, sweet-and-spicy Christmas-in-a-bottle thing going for it. Unlike Gothic, however, this one smells good on me, too, not just my boyfriend!
  10. I thought you all were on vacation. Instead I drop by and . . . WOW! Oh yes, I need to try everything. Everything! Happy Thanksgiving indeed! :Sweet-Turkey:
  11. I've been out of communication for a while (wireless card had a meltdown) and had no idea the sale had expanded! Let's see, the boyfriend's birthday is next month, and he was making jokes about wanting a scent based on Conan. (!) I'm thinking some Thane for him. Then I had a friend who asked for Sugared Forest and Little Goth Girl. Now, the real question . . . Which ones am I going to knuckle under and buy?
  12. I really loved my last order! I'm thinking my sister-in-law is going to really enjoy the PE I snagged on sale for her, and Pumpkin Tropique . . . Where has this scent been all my life?!? I appreciate the PE samples that were enclosed as freebies, too; I wore one tonight, and my boyfriend commented on it three times. I would *never* have tried it otherwise; now, I'm just wondering if I should risk waiting on the new releases before I order a bottle!
  13. It took me about 30 minutes of negotiation between my Good and Bad Angel, but I finally placed a modest order with two sale bottles and a few samples I'd been eyeing, including a couple of new April releases. I think I may have even done some early Christmas shopping! I think I can live with this compromise . . . But once I get those samples, I suspect the Bad Angel will be at it again.
  14. I admit it . . . I'm a stalker. It's been too long since I've gotten new Love Potions; I feel an order coming on!
  15. Thanks so much for doing this! (And Saturday's great for me, anyway . . . I'm probably going to be snowbound!) If we're planning on buying more items, would be it be more convenient for you if we posted here, so you could invoice us all at one time? Or would it be simpler to just handle separately? Just want to make it as easy as possible for record-keeping, postage costs, etc. Whatever works is fine by me!
  16. Wow, Exotic Carnation sounds *amazing* . . . Sounds like something I would have liked to create for myself. So, um, in spite of my need for frugality, I'm afraid I really need this one. Badly. Please put this non-frugal perfume-addled person down for Exotic Carnation. Pretty please.
  17. OK, a sinus infection just knocked me off my feet for a couple of days. But I'm almost through with grading, I turned in my grad school work on time, and I'm heading into exam week. I have been very, very good. I think I am overdue for some Love Potion Love! I'm thinking Blood on Snow due to my love for red currant, but I'm a little torn over Garland & Lace . . . I have a lot of gingerbread scents already, and that seems to be the predominant note people are getting. Maybe Empress of Persica instead? Or Offering? I can only afford two bottles, so this is a tough decision!
  18. I just realized my collection has grown to the point that I can do another top-five list . . . Just for the holiday season! Here they are: some of my favorite LPs for December and January: 1) Sugared Magi 2) Bayberry and Gold 3) Stealing Xmas 4) Unicorn Smile (yum, oranges and cookies!) 5) New Year's Evil Effervescence and Sugared Gingerbread were also contenders; I've tried other champagne scents since, but none of them are as pretty. And, on my guy, there's a particular Christmas scent that's to die for . . . that old classic, Gothic Christmas!
  19. I've never done this before . . . But I'm getting the sample vials AND a bottle. I know, why not wait until I get the samples; that would be the smart thing to do. But Santa Carla . . . Santa Carla is the only Love Potion I out-and-out hoard. (I don't count original Raven Moon, as I have actually used up every bottle in turn. It's not hoarding if you use it all!) The new "Boardwalk" tribute sounds so good . . . I don't know if it will fly off the shelves like some of the things we've been seeing lately, but I just can't take that chance. Boardwalk vampire scent must be mine!
  20. When I'd revisited the description of Tahitian Temptress more than four times . . . Yeah. I knew it was bottle time.
  21. someone's at the door someone's at the door someone'satthedoor SOMEONE'S AT THE--Oh, it's just my perfume samples. Carry on!
  22. So . . . Musk based with essence of redwood . . . My first thought was, "Gemini must be what Kim Harrison's witches smell like." I also love the bridal skull of Southern Gothic. Reminds me of that lovely moment in The Revenger's Tragedy when a poisoned skull is "dolled up" to fool an evil character into kissing it . . . And with all the notes, I can't wait to try it! These goodies have my curiosity up, but at the same time I really want to hang on to some funds for the fall, aka MY SEASON OF DOOM. So many of my favorite scents have come from the October month, I know I can't buy everything!
  23. I think Mountainwitch may need a Sand Witch . . .
  24. You've done it again . . . I swear, of all the etailers I follow, it's Love Potions releases that will LITERALLY make me laugh out loud. Hysterical!
  25. Yeah, it's just a note or two. (I only tried 07 when it was brand new--I wore out my trial vial by November!) Thanks very much for letting me know I'm not losing my mind.
