  1. I'm another vote for not-too-manly-man. In the vial, it's all bracing and fresh. When it hits my skin, it does a weird thing: Snoofing close-up, I get the nice, lemony herbalness...and the scent wafting up from me gets a feel of weird lilac! Sniff skin again--lemony herbal yummies. Very bath and body, or in the hair, like luna said. Sniff general air *above* my arm--weird lilac! Gods forgive my skin for doing this, but it's reminiscent of a bathroom air spray that my babysitter used when I was a kid! So I went about my business and taught art and music, forgetting about the perfume. On my way home a couple hours later, LO, AND BEHOLD! The extreme drydown is absolutely EXQUISITE!!! Whaaa....? I've got understated, sexy, sweet Patch with wonderful herbal, slightly floral freshness. It's beautiful! I will have to test drive this a couple more times to see if the weird lilac phase is a fluke. Right now, though, I am enjoying the end product immensely!
  2. OH EMM GEE!!! Y'all, I am getting a somewhat different thing from this one, and I am so in love with it. Snoofing the vial, it's all sunny lemongrass with supporting background notes--bright and clean. Hitting my skin, it's still lemongrass, and I can detect a bit of smokiness with some other indefineable stuff waaaayyy in the background. And then...the sandal starts coming to the fore! The smokiness hangs around the edges and the lemongrass sort of delicately frames the whole thing. It's still gently fresh, but the sandal starts sweetening and rounding everything out. I even get occasional whiffs of an earth note, and I have no idea what's smelling like that. As time goes on, the sandalwood develops more, and it's so lovely and sweet! At extreme drydown it stays as mostly that sweet, round, sandal, with a touch of dry grassiness about as far out on the edges as it can get without disappearing. It strikes me as a sister of Totem: Bat, which is a part of my soul. GODS!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE.
  3. First off, THANK YOU, Mara, for the wonderful April package! Everything is luscious and beautiful and I've been wearing the necklace and most of the perfumes (heh...no self control) all day and evening! Aaaaand...I think I shall waste away to nothingness if I do not obtain more of Lisa's Outback--I cannot believe how much I love it (weeellll, actually I CAN believe it because, you know, LPMP)!!! Should I reserve one here, or are they going to appear over on Etsy?
  4. AUGH! I LOOOVE my stuff!!! The bag is so pretty and the necklace is wonderful and I have so many perfumes on that I lost count! THANK YOU!!!
  5. My dad grew camellias; I grew up with the beautiful flowers floating in a bowl, or tucked behind my ears. I wish Daddy and I had known that we could have made tea from the leaves, because we certainly would have! I've been planning on getting a few bushes of the camellia sinensis because they should grow well here on the mountain but I keep missing my ordering window from a nursery in Oregon! Duh. Anyhoo, the blooms always smelled non-floral fresh--nice, calming, uplifting. I would compare them to unscented varieties of roses, or maybe that fresh-cut-stems thing. Am looking forward to this perfume!
  6. OMG. I've been wearing my Evil in Carnation for a couple days straight. Can't remember when or from whom I got my bottle--maybe in one of Mara's sales?--but it has aged HELLA GOOD. I get more and *longer* cinnamon now, and the carnation is absolutely exquisite. There's a warmth to the whole blend, too, which I'm attributing to the cinnamon mixing with the black spices that originally didn't show up on me. That fiery thing burns off after a while, and the flowers rule clear through to the next day! And y'all know what? I'd forgotten that this was based on that Appalachian spellwork. Totally explains my...umm...attitude the last couple days. Quite useful! Heh.
  7. Mara, the one I want the most--Out of this World Musk--has the most bottles available! Welllll...I'd like Aphrodite in Vermont and Dolly Rama Musk, too. Heh. Shall I just hit up the Etsy Shop later instead of you holding bottles? Sounds way easier.
  8. OHYUMOHYUMOHYUM! Another Cherry/Vanilla thing that works on my skin! Snoofing the vial, I get cherry hard candy, but it's darker than the one in Ivory Cats: Cherry Divinity. There's a booziness and some vanilla, too. Hitting my skin, the cherry spreads out--that's the only way I can describe it--and I get delicious cupcake along with it. Again, I'll compare to Cherry Divinity because I've been wearing them both all week. The vanilla here is definitely in *cake*, whereas in CD it's divinity fudge all the way for me. Fairy Cake: Cherry is lasting on me just like CD, too! As it warms and melds, it balances out its cherry and cupcake. It stays balanced, and just gradually fades back into a lovely skin scent that makes me smile. I am loving the Fairy Cakes! They are fairly straightforward, yet they still have the kind of personality that Mara brews into things. You know what I mean? They're simple...and yet not. I also find them uplifting. And boy howdy, they're perfect to wear when I'm working with young students!
  9. So...with the original Cherry Divinity, and also with Mamelons de Cerise and the Bohemian Cats one, I liked them a lot, but my skin made them evaporate quickly. THIS time around, however: WOO-HOO!!! I can wear it, and snarf myself continuously, and love it, and hug it...and it lasts!!! SQUEE! ~And OMG it's soooo good!~ Wet in the vial, I get cherry hard candy with vanilla-something in the background. Wet on my skin, the cherry candy gentles down and the vanilla-something gets cake-ish. As it warms, I truly get Divinity Fudge...with maybe tiny pieces of chopped dried cherries stirred into it! I LOVE this! My Auntie Carlene used to make Divinity at Christmas, and it was marshmallowy and sweet and light and yummy. Just yesterday, on extreme drydown when the cherry had turned into more of a supporting sweetness than a fruit, I snoofed my arm and was suddenly, literally, seeing a plate of Auntie's Divinity in the house where I grew up! I do think the amber in here helps hold all the Yum on my skin, 'cause I can smell it if I look for it. Delicious! It is a perfume that makes me very happy. Have been wearing it for 3 or 4 days straight. I hope there are some bottles left. Oh and a couple days ago, I was setting up painting stuff with one of my young art students. She stopped, looked around her kitchen, and said, "What is that smell?!?" I asked what kind of smell, and she said, "Oh, it's a good smell..." I stuck out my arm for her to sniff. Her jaw dropped and she said "That's it!" These cakey, candy-like, foody sweets that Mara concocts for us are VERY good to wear whilst teaching the young ones!
  10. AUGH! SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!! I wondered why you'd changed your avi, Mara! Cannot wait for the notes! Have a GREAT party!!!
  11. MORE LOVE FOR TANTALIZE!!! I love every single one of the Ivory Cats. Cannot believe it. Am rolling around in the glory of it all! Heh. This was the one I was most worried about, because of the phero. I was sad when I did my first teeny spot test because I LOOOOVE the scent, but Lace has made me feel a bit whiny and bitchy in the past. Well, HEY PRESTO!!! It isn't doing it now! WOO!!! So, back to the gorgeous olfactory thing. It's this fluid, sweet, just-bright-enough orchid when it hits my skin. Sweet in a perfect way, and supported--if I look for it--by the sugar, musk, and a vague insinuation of vanilla. As it warms and embraces my flesh (!), I get more of the vanilla/marshmallow root/myrrh/sugar cushion to it all. I've not noticed the smoke as a discrete note, and this is a pleasant surprise as I often amp it. I shall assume that this time, smoke adds to the Sultry here. This baby is definitely a Classic Women's Perfume, caps intended. Tantalize is another one that makes me feel grownup, sophisticated, and dressed in a black velvet evening dress even though I'm currently in snow boots, sweats, and a hoodie. Oh-oh-oh! ETA: Extreme drydown is a soft, vanilla/myrrh/sugar skin scent that's like, "Oh, that? Why, I ALWAYS smell like this, my dear."
  12. You know, when I first got this one, I found it pretty, but too sharp for me...maybe a scent locket possibility. I put it on my trade thread, and it didn't get re-homed, so I kept it. Finally got around to wearing it again in like the second half of last year and WOWZERS!!! It's NOT too pointy any more! This has become one of my favorite LPs. I thought I'd been here to gush, but apparently have been remiss. It's sort of ethereal. It's light. It sticks around forever. It's sexy as hell, in a ladylike, sophisticated way. I get along with patchoulis, and I love the ones Mara uses. This LP variant is just. SOOOOOOO. GOOD!!! I wear this day, night, business, recreation...any time! It just makes me feel like a Grownup Lady with a twinkle in her eye, if y'all know what I mean. And now, 'cause I'll NEVER be a real grownup...the DANCING CATS!!! :DANCY2:
  13. Gods, I LOVE this LP variant! I am a Neroli addict. I wear just the essential oil sometimes. I slather Sugared Neroli often!!! I also love Orange Blossom. I've lived around citrus trees my whole life and their blooms make my eyes roll back in my head. I love LP White and Sneaky Clean. This LP: Valentine was just a shoo-in for me! I get all the happy results that everyone else is getting, and none of the patch-amping. Patch and I have a life-long affair going. Heh. This perfume is soft, feminine, demure, and just plain pretty! It's luncheon on a balmy day under an arbor at the greatest little family-owned restaurant out in the countryside of . It's brunch with champagne on a warm patio overlooking Lake Arrowhead before the wind kicks up in the afternoon *gigglesnort*. It's kicking back on MY sorta-patio on a warm day, laying back in the chair and looking up through all the pines, enjoying the light breeze and smelling my LP perfume (hoping a bear doesn't smell it, too)! See where I'm going here? LOVE.
  14. I'm fascinated with this one. I liked Pashazade on both me and Mr. Matt, so figured this would be good. IT IS. Parts of it give me BoySmell, parts of it give me Exotic, and parts of it give me Playing in Aunt Marie's Carnation Flowerbed...plus Smoke. Hee! Wet on skin, I get a classic guy-scent with maybe extra carnation. As it dries down, it gets rounder...and then I get a hint of the smoked tea leaves (THANK YOU LUNA: You've identified another note for me!!!). It stays warm and round and fuzzy for a goodly loooong time--most likely the vanilla, sugar, and sandal having their say--and the flowers pop in occasionally. It'll go back and forth between smoky and politely sweet, but it stays warm and enticing all along. On extreme drydown, the carnations come back into the foreground whilst the warm fuzzies back them up from across the house. The journey of this one is what fascinates, and I just love the whole experience! I've found I love EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Ivory Cats. Every one. WOW. ~By the way, I haven't shared any Dianthus with Mr. Matt. It is MINE!!!
  15. Well, this after-dark Aphrodite is velvety...luxurious...powerful...embracing... Gods!!! It contains FIVE of my all-time favorite things on the planet. It starts out foody and ends up drop-dead sexy resinous floral, and this all happens under cover of the evening. Right now, Aphrodite in Vermont is on my left hand, and this is on my right. They are morning and midnight, polarities of the same experience. What a brilliant pair!
  16. This is indeed lovely! When I first put it on, the lettuce briefly confused me. Immediately, the chamomile and a hint of earth wafted through: Aaahhh! There's that garden thing! I worried that I'd amp the strawberry, but it remained polite. It adds the perfect amount of zing. And the rose...oh, the rose. It really does feel freshly picked. Yum! So, yeah...WAY yeah! This one feels like wandering outside--barefoot, of course--on one of those exquisite early spring days when everything smells so wonderful that your eyes keep rolling around in your head. It's light and outside-airy and pink...but I can smell the Goddess in there, you know?
  17. Is Janet's Fresh Orange in the sample set a rename for Ginny Lee? And OMG I just got my sample set and am wearing EIGHT of them at once. I have zero self control, but I surely do smell good!
  18. Thought I'd add this almost a year later. Even though we've gotten some gnarly storms lately, it's finally starting to feel like Spring! Got out my Fairy Cake: Daffodil and renewed the addiction!!! I cannot stop snooping myself whenever I wear this one. Can't do it. MUST detect EVERY SINGLE MORPH it does. It's fresh yet syrupy Daffs (with cake) for a goodly long time. Then the Daffs get fresher, and the balance goes 50/50 with the cupcake...which is most definitely frosted. This lasts another good while. At extreme dry down, the cupcake is forefront and the Daffs are across the room. GODS but I love this!!! ETA...and on unbelievably extreme drydown? Hah! The Daffs come back over to sit next to the cupcake.
  19. And LUNAAAA!!! I LOVE that story!!! You are the Queen of Scribes.
