  1. why is this called Nakai Nectar? What is Nakai and how is this its nectar? lol

    I went to wiki

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nakai

but none of those seem to be my answer

Lol. Because we voted on it!

I think the suggestion stemmed from Nakai being a botanist who described a particular kind of watermelon. For nectar, take the latin meaning of "drink of the gods." It's a sweet, juicy, melony concoction.

To me "nectar" is an appropriate word to use in regards to a fruit-based scent, it triggers the correct associations. And names which are alliterative are automatically more appealing (so says my advertising training).

ohh so nakai was a botanist... now I know where that came from

    Wiki copy & paste:

Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum & Nakai, family Cucurbitaceae) refers to both fruit and plant of a vine-like (climber and trailer) herb originally from southern Africa and one of the most common types of melon.

Bees produce honey by collecting nectar, which is a clear liquid consisting of nearly 80% water with complex sugars. The collecting bees store the nectar in a second stomach and return to the hive where worker bees remove the nectar. The worker bees digest the raw nectar for about 30 minutes using enzymes to break up the complex sugars into simpler ones. Raw honey is then spread out in empty honeycomb cells to dry, which reduces the water content to less than 20%. When nectar is being processed, honeybees create a draft through the hive by fanning with their wings. Once dried, the cells of the honeycomb are sealed (capped) with wax to preserve the honey.

Or the easy answer. I like the way it sounds. :wit3:

  2. I am so happy with this! As a big fan of Sugared Melons I had hoped for that juicy melon scent but the mango combined really gives this a tangy punch that improves the melon for me. I don't detect eow at all while wet or during the dry down. It maintains the tangy melon while a nice hint of sugared honeycomb blooms from beneath it as the melon fades several hours later. I think it is similar to Summer Solstice'08 too, but focuses and is more heavy with melon varieties, which works perfectly for me my skin absorbed the fruitiness on that one much too quickly.

Will soon see what my H thinks of the copulins content.

  3. I had a tough time choosing. I snagged older scents I've wanted and my baby from the design the august line. I feel dazed and panicked that I missed something (like Summer Solstice..groans), I am so glad to be getting a sample pack so I can sniff everyone elses babies. LOL

    Nakai Nectar

    LA BOOM

    Insight Potion

    Deliciously Wicked

Sale choices were Fortune Cookie & 976-Girl.

  4. Oh they are gorgeous. Excellent job everyone! Thank you for your quick work Mara, and not making us wait until Monday!

Now to choose. I thought I knew which ones I would buy & sale freebie to select since I have to limit myself to two. Sigh. I've wanted Lioness for a friend since Vivica posted back in the spring. I'm greedy. Lioness would be perfect for my friend. I'm selfish. The buy 2 get 1 sale makes it easier but I'm afraid to sniff Lioness in case I love it and have to give it up. Then I want last months insight potion just for the label, and summer solstice because I could drink my sample. I hate being limited.

So glad I'm getting a sample pack of these I love my samples.

  5. A 1/6 oz. roll on is tiny I would start with 1 drop, wait a few hours and give it a sniff test and add more by 1 drop increments from there. When I mix I aim for barely detectable, but you do have to wait a few hours sometimes even a day because the cops can be temporarily disguised and then resurface. Some of the oils do very well covering eow, some just don't.

    1/6 oz.= 5 ml.

  6. May I hope you don't pull your potion idea it sounds lovely.

If i were to go by picture, I would say Blossom of Love is peach blossom because it symbolizes a happy marriage. Second guess, persimmon, and that would really drive me crazy! Not that peach wouldn't drive me crazy I love it in scents too!

Forgot to give thanks. lol Thanks for the artist names Mara! And thank you both for the new releases!

  7. Dosen't Mara do an awesome job? Ahh to be an artist-I just write pretty words.

    She sure does!

Summer Solstice is my favorite. The pin ups just make me want to collect them all!

Argh, I need more money! I'm still 2 months behind. Dang est, set me back of what I could spend on Love Potion goodies in good conscience. I wanted it so badly though. :)

  8. I received this little gem as a sample my last purchase, and promptly dropped it in to my goody bag of samples without sniffing because I don't like the smell of fresh carnations. What a mistake!

This is gorgeous, sweet and pepperish floral spice. I've been layering with Pheroboy to add a little girly to it, makes a great pairing. :D

  9. Had to add this. I was telling hubby how great Love Potions are for sending a replacement and was making him sniff, it was the first time I had talked to him about them besides the I spilled half a bottle of banana perfume oil in to the carpeting and that's what you're smelling. LOL

Anyway I showed him my other bottles (not my pg blends, shh those are a secret)and he had an ahhhh "thats how you smelled like chocolate on Valentines day" moment. It was so funny!

    Thanks again!

  10. Thank you for the Sugared Melons Mara!

This is nice, just got it today. My head is congested so my review is definitely off a little, because I smell cucumber. Maybe it is the guava, I don't think I've smelled guava before. I like it! :)

My first impression is that it isn't as sweet as some of my other sugared fruits. I have pineapple and fried bananas..so far. Great melon scent, I can even pick up on the watermelon. And rind!

Can't wait to layer this with sugared honeycomb or a few other of my favorites!

  11. Have to add a review of this after spilling enough to know the scent well. LOL

Wet this smells to me like banana bread dough, not baked but gooey sweet bananas, milk, butter, vanilla & spice just before the dry ingredients are mixed in. The dry down is sweet and wonderful also, reminds me of the candy circus peanuts. Circus peanuts were a regular sweet at my house growing up so the scent association is great!

    Circus Peanuts

  12. I REALLY want to try EW (LP's version) :) , scared that I won't like it (especially after my first attempt with EW). Think it'll be a coin toss. But I'm really diggin' to try Synchronicity, even if it didn't have DYG. Also, want to try Fortune Cookie (but only for the 'surprise', not a real big fan of almond scented anything). decisions...decisions...

    liz :aola:

I haven't used the oil base eow but I have lust after me with extra copulins, what I've found is that even if the smell is more mild in the oil, the dry down takes a bit longer and that aroma lingers on the skin much longer. If you've found the original eow hard to use because of the smell, the oil wouldn't be a good choice. Once you've mastered using original eow and are over the self conscious "I stink" feeling, go for it.

  13. Gorgeous labels and scents as usual! I'll have to lay low for this month, my dogs vet appt. was yesterday and it was a bit more expensive than the usual. (isn't everything argh)

:dog1: The good news is that he is HEALTHY as a horse, oh so excellent because he had cancer this time last year. And maybe I'll receive BD cash to blow on smell goods later this week.

  14. I love it too. My skin does strange things to it fresh (bacon smokehouse and pancakes! Hungry! Hungry Jack, gobble them down and the plate comes back!)and then it turned in to a smoooth and soft maple cream with an incredible undercurrent of spice. 6 hours strong so far.

It reminds me a bit of VS amber romance except Super is so much better and more. Must be the creme anglais note in amber romance that has me comparing them. Layering the two is going to be one dreamy cloud of scent.

Super will also require a layering of Valentines Chocolate too. Yummy!
