It was Poetry Night at the neighborhood coffeehouse…the Creator always smiled to think of the name of the establishment, all one had to do was ask, "Is there any place around where I can get a good cup of coffee?" and she would gesture across the street, pointing out the building bearing the exact answer. Dozens of highly-caffeinated individuals clustered within at tables and along a zinc bar at the back of the space, the air was filled with competing scents, though all were coffee-based, merely testament to the many ways people enjoyed that particular beverage. She breathed deeply and smiled, wondering why no one had ever asked her to make them smell like coffee.

 

"Intellectual society always begins and ends with the coffeehouse," a friend had once asserted to her. "Caffeine helps people to think deep thoughts and be creative."

 

A woman with long dark hair came onstage, opening a book with an embossed cover. She read from it, her voice rich and warm and alive with passion for her words.
