The stars seemed to shine just to compete with its glow, glittering in their myriad positions. The ocean’s song was a steady soothing sigh as the sea caressed the shore. He placed a tiare flower into her hands, then pointed at the sky. “Those stars,” he murmured, “so far away, but here’s a star just for you, because you’re more beautiful than all of them.” She smiled, bringing her hands closer to her face. “This must be what romance smells like, it’s so captivating.” He brought forth more blossoms, to scatter upon her, soft as their skin as they embraced, fragrant like a lingering dream in the warm air. “There is a legend that this flower was born because a woman pined for her lover, she waited patiently for his return though she feared she would never see him again. It is the shape of her hand.” He pointed to the spread of the petals. “But it is also a star, shining across eternity.” “Like love,” she whispered, pulling him down onto the sand, knowing the stars would look on, as they always did, upon lovers everywhere.
