In the vial, my man said he got a quick blast of something juniper or wintergreen, probably the pine, but that part went away soon after drydown on his skin. After that, he sensed something sweet, amber came up, and a "peppery-spice," and then something he felt was 'high end/designer," He then realized it reminded him of a cologne his mom had bought him back in 1996! He was 10 years old and fell in love with Michael Jordan for men. (He also still loves the movie Space Jam.) Now, I would never compare Mara's niche creations to something one could pick up at the mall, but i looked up the MJ notes and it is a woody green scent, and the nostalgic reviewers said it was "the best celebrity scent ever made!" We are still both getting the sage and cedar and a little palo santo four hours later.

It will be a full bottle for us, for sure. Great for "casual evening" wear, says the fully grown perfume, and Jordan, fan next to me.

Pine forest upon first sniff, and I'm fine with that.  More and more over the years I've come to enjoy the scent of pine in fragrance.  After a while I sense it starting to drift into oak and sage territory.  Wood/herbal notes are always grounding for me, and so in that respect I feel the intent of this one - provoking a desire for reflection.  From a fragrance perspective, that woody green aura makes for a really nice daytime scent for guys - and I can see ladies who like that kind of thing wanting to wear it too - but it has a fairly straightforward masculine vibe.  You don't even have to think about it, just put some on and go where the day takes you.  This is the kind of thing I would always give to Quince because he loves to smell like a tree.  In the long drydown I get more of an earthy undertone which I'm attributing to the resins, but it evolves in a way you would expect from the type of scent it is.

ETA: and it lasts and lasts!

The Stag stays very pine on me, but more in a natural tree way than an air freshener way. I start getting the sage, too. The combo gives it a sort of western mountains feel. It's very outdoorsy, like picking up a handful of ground cover and crushing it in your hands. After 10 to 15 minutes, the cedar joins in. There's something sort of cooling, like when Mara adds a drop of peppermint to get that winter feel. I guess it might be the pine? Idk, is pine cooling? 🤷‍♀️ Over several hours, it morphs from a fresher green scent to more of a woodchip scent. This definitely reads more masculine to me than unisex, though I think it would be interesting paired with something like Snowbound if you wanted to make it more feminine.

For hubby, wet he said: "very lemony" which I am guessing is the pine. For me it was instant ohhhh-Lordy sexy outdoor male scent.

The pine is pretty strong for me even on dry-down, towards therapeutic sinus cleanser territory. Perhaps with some aging I will be able to smell more of the other ingredients. The cooling sensation mentioned above is for me more like an essential oil sensation, a bit like the way tea tree oil goes up your nose. Very refreshing. Would combine well with uplifting phero blends, even Mega Watt.

I had La Femme Noire added to this so I'm sure that altered the scent a bit.

First application I was like holy pine! At first the pine is a bit overwhelming but it settles down quite a bit after 20 minutes or so. It remains the dominant scent but soon after cedar, a whiff of sage, and a hint of amber peak through. My phero choice was excellent for this scent because it is a very energizing blend for me. The pine smells fresh and natural and is invigorating.

If you like the way pine smells and are ok with it being overwhelming for a bit I would definitely recommend this scent. It is unisex and not overly masculine but would smell fantastic on a man. I dimmed it down on first application with a more mellow scent but by the next day I had realized the beauty of the scent on its own.

I wanted to update a bit. This is still one of my favorite scents. People compliment me on it but it is always followed by "It smells like cologne." So I would say most people would find this a masculine scent. Back handed compliments irritate me so I usually wear it for a few more days after I get that. 😁
