I like this so much!  I'm kind of picky about smoky scents, I think I need a certain amount of sweetness happening too, and this is a really nice balance of those qualities.  It does feel snuggly, I told Mara it's yet another "cuddle classic!"  I get the spice aspect as more of an undertone, it's not too prominent to my nose, anyway.  I think of this as something which is sort of in the same vibe as Rodnoy, for example.  But I also think if you're a fan of Alumette you might like this one too.

I love Rodnoy but Alumette didn’t work on me…along with gossamer threads this is one I was expecting to really love, I hope I get the Rodnoy vibe🤞🏼

This is yummy!!! It smells so much like a less sweet version of black aggie to me. Don't ask me why, the ingredients are very different, but that was my first thought when I applied this. So much so that I tried them side by side. Black Aggie is a lot sweeter but they smell so similar to me. Someone tell me I'm not crazy! 🤣

Also, if you have issues amping smoke notes like me, so far I'm not having that problem. 😊

This scent makes me ache for winter baking, and the chewy molasses spice cookie that is my pick-me-up during long afternoons. When the oven is cranking nonstop and the fireplace is glowing, I stand over the sink with a cuppa, enjoying the scent of pine and juniper drifting in through the barely-open window.

Have to admit, this is such a happy surprise. I read the notes, intending to sample, then saw patchouli-which caused me to quake in my boots. It doesn't just not like me. It tries to murder me. Having said that, I trust Mara when she says she thinks it will be fine. She has told me that for three other scents over many years, and she has been spot on every time.

This is far better than fine. The patchouli intermingles with warm spices and soft, freshly-dried tobacco. The smoke and sugar (Piloncillo?) combine beautifully. To use a Scotch reference, the smoke is not a heavily peated Islay whisky like Laphroaig or Lagavulin. It is a Speyside whisky sipped snuggled in beside the fire. The pepper reads as pink peppercorn, and the vanilla plays nicely with that. Is this a 'Mexican' vanilla varietal providing the distinct woody warmth and depth? This, on my skin, leans toward the sweeter side of Unisex.  Having said that, the longer it lingers, the less I sense spice cookie. After a couple of hours, the predominant scents are  greenery, woods and man-in-sweater-fresh-from-outdoors. Highly approve from start to finish.

I wouldn't, but...Black Aggie is all about the elderberry to me, so...

This is going to sound weird but this blends really well with my muscle rub! Lately I’ve been muscle rubbing everyday and most of my fragrances take a turn so I haven’t been wearing them. This smells amazing on its own too though😂 It’s much softer than I imagined and I really love that! Teddy is also one of my favorite pheros and really the only one I get selfies with so I was hoping I would love this and I absolutely do! With it without the blending of muscle rub!

Confession- I bought a FB of this along with the trial, and I meant to give it to my man. All he got was the trial! My daughter had oral surgery at the beginning of this week, and her braces put on Thursday, and I’ve been wearing it a lot. The Teddy BB obviously calms everyone down, but I really like this scent on me. She loved Howl with Teddy BB for bedtime snuggles when she was younger, but I wasn’t crazy about the scent on me, although she loved it.

Feather in the Wind w/ B2.2 has been on my bedside table through all the warm months, last winter that spot was held mostly with NOX: Nyx w/Teddy BB. I’m thinking Spike and Thorn will takeover for the cold months. On me, the smoke is very subtle, which I am thankful for. Elume and Allumette were not received well by my picky man. He’s on his way home and I’m going to reapply and gauge his reaction.

13 year old daughter is now leaning on me….

I received a free trial of this (thank you!) and it's exactly like Vampire Blood incense. It's how unscented Blatant Invitation smells on me except a bit stronger. I love the scent! But the phero in this is not working for me at all. I can't stop crying! 😢 I have no reason to cry and I didn't feel sad until I put this on and now my eyes are fountains. 😭 I'll save this for when I need a good cry.

The other night I was missing someone who was not good for me and of course beating myself up for missing them. I was a mess and just crying my eyes out.

When I went to bed, I said "you know what, I'm already crying and carrying on, so I might as well smell good while I'm like this." I put on Spike and Thorn and no long after, I really started sobbing. The sadness was just pouring out of me.

But in the end, I realized that it's okay to miss aspects of people who weren't great and that missing certain parts of people's personalities or certain parts of relationships doesn't mean I want that person back in my life or that I forget the awful parts. It was such a healing moment for me and now it's tied to this fragrance. ❤️

Got this in 2023 sale. Even though it’s not what I usually get (I lean towards gourmand and fruity), I like it. It’s very autumnal and reminds me of a park with old trees during leave falling season. It’s sweet and a bit spicy.
p.s: if you like this, you may like Conjurer too. It’s in a similar vein but a bit more foody
