Starting off I wanted to love this one from the description since I layer LP & OCCO Black. Of course when I pulled it out of the mail it was the first thing I snuffled at and even put it on before bed. Of course, helpful hubby crinkled his nose at first hint, exclaiming his dislike from 3 feet away...but even I was leery....the honey was behaving oddly, like the musk/honey in SLF, and I wasn't sure that's what I wanted to go for and yet I was compelled to huff my app points and delighted still again to wake up with the faint scent clinging to me the next morning.

 

Post acclimation from traveling:

 

Tonight I'm wearing it again and the scent memory of SLF is in the back of my head, but the musk/honey is NOT "dirty-like" now. It's sweet, definitely sweet. It's not, to my nose, like how layering LP & OCCO black smell - this is definitely its own animal.

Hubby has changed his tune to, "Eh. Not good, not bad..." So at least I know it won't be offensive to wear around him as I first feared. He's an all out foodie lover - what can I say?

Dom Noire is a rich, chewy fragrance. That HAS to be the patch. There's this sweetness that's not just vanilla or honey or sugar but a beautiful blend of them all. I can pick out the faint powder note in the honey without it being really powdery, it's just a hint - which is GREAT because sometimes my skin over does powder with some honeys. But along with the sweetness is the balancing depth of the patch, musk and amber. I LOVE how sticky this is, it has real staying power! This is totally going to be FB! That scent description above nails it - Deep, dark, exotic, sweet and sexy.

12 hours later and I can still smell it on me this morning. Sheesh. I wonder how this will change with age?

 

It's sweet, without being necessarily foodie. It's almost innocent, all sweet and soft on top...but underneath is something else, something slinky and sultry. The patch and (maybe?) amber keep it grounded and from going too overly/cloyingly sweet. It's really in perfect balance.

 

I'm SOOOOO glad my chemistry isn't amping the honey/powder thing it has been know to do on occasion! I almost don't want this to age because I love it so much just the way it is!

 

I have to hoard this sample until my bottle comes, but I'm already thinking - should I get back up/s? This is my favorite of the sampler so far

Wore his into work yesterday. The scent really carries and it doesn't take much. Glad I'm getting the Dom potion in Un. The bottle I have coming will last and last. I LOVE these kind of fragrances! They are pungent and long lasting so a little bit really goes a long way - lots of bang for your buck!

 

I took off my layers (the season is finally showing its bitter teeth around here) and the scent flung out - more than I expected! It settled down after a bit though, but I was VERY aware of it...and got LOTS of compliments from others (thank goodness!) One co-worker sidled up to me all moon eyed, "Is that you honey?" he asked all smiles and then waived another worker over to "share" me

 

The only poor reaction I had was from my one gf who hates patch (with the single exception so far of Compromising Positions) but I can't just wear things for her all the time I knew she'd hate it, but she's 1 out of - oh, everyone else...so I'll risk it

 

Stayed with me all day and with a bare hint of sugared honey still in the a.m. 18+ hours later!

Gah, NuTrix, you're killing me over here! Fingers crossed there are bottles left once my samples has arrived because I love Dom and I love honey. I find OCCO Black too intense for like the first three hours but it sounds like this one won't go in that direction. What do you think? Or maybe you have no idea what I'm talking about with the OCCO!

on my skin: OCCO Black

...and ne'er the twain shall meet. I'm not surprised the resins are really strong on me, they generally tend to be, but I was really hoping for some delicious liminal space between those two scents. I imagine it will appear with some aging. It is yummy, just not what I thought it would be, at this juncture.

I have the OCCO Black too and, No, Dom Noire is not like it. OCCO Black for me is very chewy and patch forward. Dom Noire is honey forward with my chemistry, but not ALL honey that it's all I get. It has that similiar chewiness about it that the OCCO does and the patch definately adds a rich, dense undertone but there is such a sweetness on top of everything - and that dripping thick honey note...Mmmmm. I'll be watching for your review!

On my skin this smells like LP Black with the honey taken up a a few notchs. A little more, a little dirtier and so in.

I do notice the OCCo Black style resins which I like. But the honey has extra an extra kick to it and my first trial did not leave me wanting more. I'll leave it alone for a bit and see how it ages, could be interesting. It is a serious partner for Dom... wholly shit. I found myself wanting this to agree with me more, the combo of LP Black and Dom is potent.

I began to pair the 2 so much that I rarely wear the one with out the other anymore. When I think of the Dominance blend I think OCCO Black and (of course) Sex & Violins. LP Black has been more of a Leather blend to me

 

I wonder if the honey note will change over the next couple months?

On me this combo ( even tho the honey was distracting me) felt very WOW! Like I'm a bad ass and all my mojo is working hard.... super aggressive & confident. I love the bad mojo vibe but the honey was distracting me from full enjoyment if the experience. But this is a scent that will age & change over time so I'd never say never.

It will. I've actually had success in wearing LP variants that I thought were unwearable (#7, Winter Variant, etc.) with about a year of aging. The only exception for me has been Black (unfortunately). So I would say that if you already love it, it's gonna knock your socks off in a few months.

I have to agree with Luna on this one. Sniffing from the vial, I thought I'd love it. On me, it is almost ALL resins. After about an hour, a little sweetness wafts up. But I think I'll just keep and use my sample. No bottle for me..

This was not unexpected, as i tend to amp most honeys except in the rarest of circumstances. But for the record, in the vial, it was a very nice, darkly sweet resin and honey blend. It actually reminded me a bit more of LP Red than black, and i know there's not a lick of cinnamon in this. This is so dark and sexy, I know the resin ladies will love it. (Dolly, I'm looking at you, girlfriend!) I might try to see what sugar I can add to help me wear this, because I want to be a Dom Noir, too!

I was really scared of the dark honey in this one, but instead there is something else that is prominent on my skin. It's nothing like LP Black - it's not sweet and creamy, but musky and spicy. I almost don't get any honey at all. To my disappointment, I think I may be amping the patchuli, which I have not noticed in any other LP scent so far. There is something that smells like old lady clothes, so I assume it's the patch.

I'm not giving up on it yet, and I think I will try to layer it with something else before I made my decision on whether to go FB or not.

Also, since I'm about to be paid a visit by my monthly guest, my skin chemistry may be acting up too.

Okay so I think I love this. I know, I know.. patch. Patch = prickly snatch status on me. Like hippie prickly snatch status. Like sometimes it becomes a bit moth bally on me. This however, is very berry? It's almost like a berry pinkish sort of scent. I get all sweet and crazy bitch pink girl. Anyone else get that? Dominance normally makes be a bit ... um ... well, it makes me a bit of a jerk and I have to stay away from people until it passes. HOWEVER, Dom Noire is not that way. I've only had it in Sex & Violins before and that's when it was a no-go. Dom N. is wonderful. I feel confident and pleasant. When the ole' mones are off and the emo's are making me feel weak and wimpy, it totally makes those icky feelings melt away. I feel balanced and wonderfully normal!!!

 

I also really like the aroma part of Dom N too!! It's quickly making it's way to the top of my faves list. I may be in love

 

Now, my curiosities are whether the difference is the aroma aspect or the cops, because I do tend to get some sort of playful kind of boost from cops too. Maybe it's the combo. Needless to say, I was quite surprised find myself thinking fb. I love surprises!

This is really nice. I tested some last night and again this morning before I showered.

 

I can smell all the notes! It smells to me like the honey and amber notes are the same ones as in Horny, but whereas with Horny the amber overwhelmed my nose, Dom Noire is very well-behaved. I anticipate that my husband won't care for the patchouli :-(

 

But really, this is just a lovely scent. The vanilla is warm and comfortable, like in Synchronicity. Not foodie.
