  1. AD-PE-EraKML.jpg

A base of smooth white musk, over which are layered a combination of 4 lavender and 2 lotus varieties. A drop of amber in the base, and drops of cardamom and chai to spice it up just a tad.

In the ridiculously long email I sent Mara to explain what I wanted in a PE for my mother, I asked that it evoke the atmosphere of strong but peaceful. That is exactly the sort of feeling that this PE has. When I sniff the bottle, my nose takes in the cardamom first. But perhaps that's because we drink it in chai at home all the time, so I recognize it the fastest. Anyway, I think that really adds to the character of strength. It makes the fragrance feel very present, very alert. And the lavender and lotus create this soft, comforting vibe. I would describe this scent as a semi-spicy musky floral. Even wet, and after drydown, there's a smoothness to the scent that I attribute to the musk and amber, I assume. And it's a fragrance that lasts forever. As I have said before, I'm quite thankful for this, because it means I can hold off on the slathering and preserve something created in tribute to my mother and her mother for a long time. Just a dab of this goes a long way. I know Beccah has the remaining bottle, so Beccah, if you read this, I hope it brings you a sense of peace and strength too! :)

  2. I wore this last night and I found that the people I was with were more protective. While out at a bar/club, there were a couple of moments of unwanted advances and I think the Gotcha helped people come to my aid a bit faster, haha. Meanwhile, outside, a complete stranger stopped in his tracks to come up and tell me I looked sexy (which I totally did not, and i was covered in a huge coat) so it's all thanks to Honeyed LP!

All the heat really made the scent of this emanate up to me more, and I got a lot more vanilla from it than I usually do. It's softened so well over time that I'm really intrigued to see how this scent morphs with age, or which qualities I'll amp next.

  3. I wore Purple Puff the other night. Interestingly, the LAM garnered more responses from the females than the males I was with. The girls with whom I was hanging out were like "I really like the scent you're wearing" and were extra chatty and enthusiastic. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with the guys (in their defense, I couldn't quite tell if one was acting extra nice because he's such a sweet guy, or if it was the work of pheros).

That all out of the way, I really like the fragrance of Purple Puff. I guess I'm a purple person now thanks to LPMP. It's sweet and not overwhelming or cloying in any way. It feels gentle to me, but peppy at the same time.

  4. Sorry I didn't update, everybody! I was under the weather for the last several days and then some. I still have the tiniest speck of a cough yet, but overall, I'm all better.

So I went to the concert, and I went with SS4W because it makes me feel like superwoman when I wear it and I had one of those clear moments of "I should be wearing this for me and how I feel" and less for my targeted person. Because it's all about confidence and having fun even if nothing comes of it.

And we had a good time! I mean, this guy and I are never short for conversation so dinner was chill and then the show itself was also fun. It was kind of hard to dance because we both were holding coats! There was no coat check and that night it happened to be freezing out (which didn't help, as I'd dressed a bit bolder than I usually do, and was in a short skirt and prior to going in was dyyyiiiinnnnggg). We had great tickets so it was cool to be super close to the artists and sometimes some of the openers seemed to be way too into themselves and we just sort of cracked jokes a ton.

As far as anything further, I'm still in the same grey zone of more than a friend, but less than romantic. But it's okay. One day at a time and I appreciate all the time we spend together regardless.

  5. I think the cops content is fairly low. So much so that I actually ordered my bottle of Gotcha boosted with extra cops, which I absolutely love and I feel spices things up a bit as far as intent. I love Gotcha and it's my fave phero on these boards, so I'd definitely say to give it a try if you haven't yet. Especially given your situation. I'm in a very similar one and it's my go-to for this sort of thing.

  6. I wore my LFM with LP Gold today, and I felt confident/calm/in control, but not as extremely superwoman-like as when I wear SS4W. I only rolled a stripe on each forearm and a dab on my neck, so maybe I didn't use enough. However, I did catch a few extra glances in my direction and such, which is always appreciated!

  7. I wore Gotcha last night, and it definitely helped keep me calm and centered while hanging out with my friends. And I felt like I was the center of attention accidentally (but I totally didn't mind because of the isolating gf incident, I was like whatever, I'll just continue shining!) And weirdly, friends of mine were extra considerate, grabbing bags for me, waiting for me at places, etc. it was so nice! Gotcha never fails to get ya!

  8. I could be way off on this, but while smell is such a trigger for things, if we stop and think of stuff molecularly - all it comes down to is certain molecules attach and set off certain receptors, which then create this sense of fragrance and smell. So while someone may be anosmic, perhaps the molecules that are within pheromones are still setting off those receptors, but just not going that one step further in creating a concept of scent, or being interpreted as something in particular.

I think it would also depend on what's missing that causes the anosmia in any individual. Let's say someone is lacking in that last step, then yes, theoretically, the pheromones would still have an effect. But say someone's been in an accident or never developed the receptors or whathaveyou, then the presence of the molecules would have no effect because the machinery was "damaged" or "missing" so to speak, so nothing would happen.

  9. For anyone traveling, Pop Potion is such a great blend to help smooth out the security line and airline check-in process... As well as helping you get nice comps and perks at the hotel registration :) The only downside... No one leaves you alone during the flight itself so you can't get any shut-eye ;)

Chai is on the money with this one. I've used Popularity Potion before flights, and I feel like it makes the security line totally smoother. Chatty, smiley security guards and easy goings through the x-ray scanners and everyone always beams as if I'm the only person who knows what they're doing (which I might be sometimes, haha).

But like MissHazel before me (from whom I'd purchased the PP, incidentally), I have yet to discover the sweet spot of what amount works for me. Gotta keep trying!

  10.

Wife has a super smeller indeed, which is why I was hoping to avoid cologne use altogether - hence buying the unscented pheros in the first place. You can understand my disappointment at her response.

I just wanted to point out that "unscented" doesn't mean that it has no scent, in this case, it means that it's not covered by another fragrance when it's being sent to you (unlike the phero enhanced fragrances). This might've been where some confusion lay for you in your wife being immediately taken aback by the smell.

Definitely give it another shot. Unscented pheros aren't offensive, they just aren't always pleasant. I'm not a super smeller, I think, so I don't even mind the smell of cops and such, but I know the first time I tried things, it was certainly jarring and sharp, so maybe both of you need some time to get used to things too.

But yeah, phero enhanced fragrances seem like they'd be your best bet.

  11. Mara's Rocket Fuel gives me life!

I excused myself to the bathroom during a pal's birthday dinner and put one dab of MRF split between my wrists to refresh and when I came back to the table, after a moment, the guy sitting next to me asked, "What's that smell, everyone?" with a confused look on his face.

I asked, "Is it maple vanilla?" And he said, "Yes!" and I perked up and said, "Oh, it's me!"

And his face changed to become coy/interested and he said, "Ooooooh!" and scooted closer. With what I know about this dude, this is not his normal behavior, but I was quite amused and flattered.

I will keep stock of Mara's Rocket Fuel III forevvveerrrrrrr.

  12. I hadn't read the notes in Lava Rain and thought it was going to be very spicy and dark and I was so pleasantly surprised to find this being the exact opposite. It is watery/aquatic and clean smelling. I think it would smell amaaaazing on a guy but it's very unisex. The tobacco makes this lovely. It's not overly smokey. This is a great fresh scent.

  13.

So what I am going to do if you do not mind is print this label of your grandmother - because that's how much I adore the label. : )

By all means, go for it! I would never mind. I'm just glad people aside from my fam actually wanted to try out the scent and stuff. I had no idea how many bottles Mara had left over, but there was totally a moment when I thought, "oh no! no one will want to try this!" silly me!

  14. Skye High reminds me of Double O. Or since it came first, I should reverse that, haha. To me, it comes off as pure marshmallow fluff. So anyone who likes marshmallow scents would enjoy it. I'm not sure that I get any sweet potato with it, but perhaps that's the quality that is adding the depth to the scent. There's definitely something that comes out at the end that's soft and anchoring the scent, I feel. So I'm assuming that is the sweet potato. It is such a sweet smell, and unlike my experience with Double O, I don't find it overwhelming or cloying. It peaks at just the right level of sweetness.

  15. Elan Vitale reminds me of something familiar and commercial. Like Clinique Happy or Gap's Day scent. Anyway, that aside, it is cheerful and citrusy. It's zingy and fizzy and there's nothing sharp about it. But it definitely has that tang of being outside and having fun in the springtime in a park. It's something I would wear to have brunch with my gal pals. It's just fun and alive and energetic. I don't really notice the currant, but I do notice the grapefruit and I think the sugars and the champagne must give it that smooth feel that I get while wearing this.
