  1. Phew! I got scared that I missed out on them in the blink of an eye! I'm sure that this new version doesn't disappoint, StacyK! Drive By Fruiting in its previous formulations has always been such a pretty scent. Clean, bright, and fresh! And you're right, having it combined it with OW is just perfect!

  2. Sorry to hear, SunnyCowgirl. Many people have had great results with PM. I think that people have provided some excellent thoughts. As for me, PM did not have either a positive or negative effect on either me, or my partner. Just...neutral. Not bad, neutral. I really do subscribe to the belief that pheros MOSTLY, only enhance what is already there. On rare occasions, such as with TS, they have actually made me bitchy.

I personally find it odd that this guy is placing so much importance on his mother's feelings. I think that if I encountered this in an adult man, I would have to wonder if it was really about their mother's feelings, or THEIR feelings, and they just didn't want to own up to that. On the other hand, if I were still back in my dating days, and came across this, the whole emphasis on their Mom's feelings would seriously make me hesitate.

At this point though, I am going to echo StacyK's thoughts. Just be careful, and keep your options open. Good luck with this.

  3. YES, DD! That is what I get to. The peeking rose! the other notes take front stage with this one on me, and the rose sort of plays hide and seek. It's interesting... my allergies have been awful due to the weather, and yesterday, after a very long time not doing so, I had to take sudofed. Made me jittery as hell, but cleared me right up. Now that I am able to pick up scent more clearly, my perception of this one is that it bears many similarities to Dominance perfume, which I also adore! Does anyone else detect this?

I can now pick up notes in this which read like amber and a bit of musk underneath the notes that I have already made mention of. It's just gorgeous, isn't it? Totally swoon worthy!

  4. Awww gosh.. thank you, halo and Mara. :Emoticons04231: I am honored. If you need more pics of LPMP products I might have, just let me know. Now that I have a new smart phone with a decent camera ( my old phone was 8 years old!), I can take better pics. The last phone cam just sucked so much! Thank you for featuring my pic. It really was fun! :)

  5. I apologize for taking so long to post this, Blackcat. And thank you for your kind words. I am the one who feels incredibly humbled. Yes, Aphrodite, and for that matter, all deities, have a light and dark aspect, just as humans and the universe do. It's simply a Yin/Yang thing. We can learn a lot about ourselves when we feel strongly drawn to a particular deity and then read up on and explore their various attributes.

I have to admit that I have not yet checked out the thread in your journal on this yet, but now I will make it a point to. I always love hearing about the experience of others. I don't know if you are on Facebook. If you are, send me a an add request. If not, please email me at rose_blkthrn@yahoo.com , the address that I have listed here, in my profile. I seldom check that email. Mostly, if someone here posts on my Tarot Reading thread, where I have asked people who are interested to email me at that address, then post back here to let me know that they emailed me. I then contact them from my usual regular address. You can just post either on this thread or the Tarot Reading thread to let me know if you emailed me. It would be so cool to share experiences on this. Along with reading, I have learned so much from sharing experiences with others. I may even have some hard copy literature on Aphrodite in the boxes of magickal material that I have collected and inherited. I would be happy to share it with you. Also, I may even still have an audio download of an Aphrodite mediation, which was transferred from cassette to an audio file. It was from the late 80s/early 90s.

But back to this beautiful PE that Mara created for you. It is perfection! Absolute perfection! :purr:

  6. luna, I am hooked! What a great story so far! Great characters and story line. Such a tease though! I am wondering the same thing as Beccah, which is, do we have to wait until the release of the next PEs for more? If so, bummer, but it is all entirely worth the wait. BTW, I love that you are among those of us who still capitalize the first letters of the seasons, as in "Spring." Most people do not do so these days, but it is an idiosyncrasy of mine. Old habits die hard. ;)

  7. OMG tyvey! LMAO!!! Other than in wax melts, I really have no experience with G2. YIKES!!!! This is really funny, but I am wary of what this one might do to me! As I recall, in wax melts, it behaves very much like Open Windows for me. It has been a while. Now I will have to break out one of those melts and try this in the safety of my own home with my partner. What the hell? I listen to him being chatty, so turn about is fair play! ;)

  8. I have been meaning to post a review of this beautiful PE for some time. What can I say about this one? Just...WOW! Mara and Blackcat came up with one gorgeously sexy potion which to me, not only smells wonderful ( I wear it quite a bit), but really does capture the darker essence of Aphrodite, whom I have worked with extensively in the past.

I'll be honest, the name jumped right out at me when I saw this. Then I read the notes. Coffee goes terribly wrong on my skin most of the time, but something told me to take a chance with this one and I can not say how happy I am that I did. When I first put it on, it gave me a whopping, wet slap of COFFEE right in the face, and I thought, "Oh no!!!"

But then within perhaps 5 minutes, (seriously, that fast), it slowly backed away, letting a deep Chocolate and Rose duet sing out in clear, beautiful harmony. In the background, the incredible Myrrh and Vetiver, a note which while I love it, can be hit or miss for me, both joined in, providing a sort of olfactory version of backup vocals. And what of the Coffee? Well, it turned out to lend an unbelievably beautiful measure of depth and darkness to the whole blend!

So yes, VERY much dark Aphrodite. There are the Rose notes which are synonymous with Her, the wet, greeness of the Vetiver, which for me, invokes the essence of dewy, night time grassiness, the Myrrh... oh wow, the beautiful Myrrh. Always a sacred aura to this note for me. Here, it plays out with a perfect, smooth, powdery ( in a dusky sort of way) smell, which just softly ties the whole potion together. SPOT ON nocturnal Aphrodite energy and scent!

    I love, love, LOVE this!!!

I was lucky enough to score two FBs ( the Goddess made me do it!) and hope to see a rebrew of this one some day. So again, hats off to Mara and Blackcat for nailing this one to perfection! Blackcat, I would love to converse with you and share our experiences and compare notes on working with Aphrodite. She's a lovely, and very tricky Goddess to work with. To my sense, Bast/Bastet and Aphrodite do not get along at all as they possess many of the same qualities and both are VERY jealous! They also both rule perfume, so in this house, I had simply had to make a choice, and Bast prevailed. But I still do honor Aphrodite whenever I can. ;):purr:

  9. Thanks all...as always I wholly appreciate your comments and am pleased you enjoy the scribing. :)

Ah Rose, if only I could be so adept...thank you. But the one for Ocean Mist is mainly Mara's.

FYI: I am working on the story for the PEs - my brain is a bit mushy because I haven't been sleeping well of late, but hopefully I'll have it shaped up tomorrow or the next day. It's a Savannah Finch story this month.

luna, you do yourself a great disservice. You are a much, FAR better writer than you know! I look forward to reading your forthcoming PE story, and anything else you have written. Sadly, I can relate to the whole sleep dilemma.

Mara, my compliments to you on the Ocean Mist description. It is lovely.

  10. I had so hoped to try a trial vial of this one and Closer and had requested these two for my forum freebies with my last two orders, but they were not included in my orders, so I guess they were not meant to be. :(

  11. I have always loved them too, luna. Only recently that I have been able to actually wear them well, and as with you, I do have to be careful with some of the white florals. They can be a bit bitey, sweet, and spikey on me. BUT... if they are well balanced with other notes to smooth and soften them, they are just incredible.

  12. Our Cauldron Punch of the Month started out with a mountain of frozen fruit - I thought I would try using frozen so it would also act like ice cubes. I still needed to use some ice, but only about a quarter of the amount as usual since it melted MUCH slower. And that's saying something since it was around 90 degrees. So, what's all in there?

Frozen cubes of Mango, pineapple, strawberries, coconut...added to Pineapple Orange Juice. I added to this, organic Bourbon Vanilla Extract and Coconut Extract. Not to mention copious amount of dark and light rum and vodka. I went "simple" this month.

I am bummed that I didn't get a pic of the table...I did everything in clear turquoise blue and green, with blue and green metallic balloons and pinwheels. It looked GORGEOUS and very watery, but it was so busy I never got a chance to snap!

As far as the NRs went - Black Star Lavender went over very well, and every single person I showed Summershine and Atlantic Shore to bought some, male and female both. This month's set really came out great - from the potions to the artwork. It's beneficial for me to be doing these every other month because I have more time to brainstorm and get inspired. I think you guys are really going to enjoy this set! :D

Wow, Mara! Your punch always looks so pretty and delicious. I still want to make that lovely one with Star Fruit some day! It looked like a drinkable Van Gogh painting! You sure do have the brewing magick down in all ways possible!

    Gorgeous presentation!

Yes, a combination of song titles from both Bowie and Prince. It's impossible to not have been effected by their music if you lived during their lifetimes. I know all of us have our own relationships with them.

Especially Bowie, I think, because he often represented the "outsider", and everyone has identified with that at some point in their lives, so each person's relationship to Bowie's music seems intensely personal, yet there are MILLIONS of us! It was a powerful realization for me to see all the public tributes of people who felt alone - banding TOGETHER to express their love, appreciation and grief.

And Prince, who's influence is so much wider than he was ever given credit for. For me, his music was most often a social thing - EVERYONE has partied to Prince music! And even today, one of the hottest songs of the past year - Uptown Funk - if you love that song, go look up the vid of Morris Day & the Time performing Jungle Love and you'll see and hear the inspiration for that!

Oh, yes, and the perfume smells wonderful too. :)

My word... these left me truly moved. Admittedly, the Moon is in Cancer and this makes me hyper emotional, but based on the sentiments of these, I really did yield to a few bittersweet tears. Simply beautiful spirit in these, Mara and the perfumes do sound gorgeous. The labels, the perfumes, the inspiration for them, all of it. And LUNA, I just have to say that your descriptions were amazing! To my mind, your descriptions for Mermaid's Kiss and Ocean Mist, evoked much of Caitlin R. Keirnan's, "The Drowning Girl." The descriptions for these two reminded me of some of the eerily lovely, dreamy thoughts that would dance through Imp's beautifully haunted mind. Much respect and admiration, Mara, luna, and La Wiz! :purr:

  13. It's hard to go wrong with Sugared Honeycomb imho, reincarnated. To me, it is my go to layerable. Not only does it add a lovely depth to most things, I find that on my skin, it lends impressive longevity to many perfumes. I personally can't wear Sandalwood or Sandalwood blends unless it's just a light touch, but I would think it would blend quite nicely with SH. :)
