  1. Yeah, I make more when my own personal stash runs out. It's a favorite pillow scent for me.

Mara, I LOVE slathering NOX on before bed time, and I do add a bit to my pillow. It clings beautifully to the sheets, and leaves a wonderful, exotic, soothing sexy scent on them. I only use black sheets, and the scent of NOX goes perfectly with the darkness. It's so magickal. I only have one precious, black NOX wax melt with Teddy BB left. I will be very sad when it is gone. It permeates and lingers in the air like an awesome aura or veil. Sighing...
  2. I feel what you are saying, MDC. We've all been there. Giving them time to age can work wonders sometimes. If that doesn't work, and I am still feeling determined, I try layering with something else that I feel might offset whatever the culprit is. I have gotten mixed results with this, but at least then, I know that I have exhausted all possibilities, and really given a perfume a fair try. They all have decided personalities, and like people, we can't love all of them, nor make them love us. Then, we simply move on to the next great love prospect. ;)

  3. Nutrix, there was an original 2007 (I think) of NOX. I have a bottle of that one and it is quite pretty, but to me, it differs quite a bit from the second 2009 brew. Others may very well disagree with me, but I much prefer the 2009. I have a difficult time describing the original, and will now have to drag it out for comparison when I have a chance!

  4. luna, you are right. I had LAM Buttercream Peach, and it was nowhere near as sweet as Aliyah smells on me. I ended up selling that one to Beach Goddess who is a huge fan of Buttercream peach. As much as I love the scent of peaches, with the exception of Whisker Wishes, which is a perfect peach blend for me, and is somewhere in the middle, between LAM Buttercream Peach ( slightly green, and not at all that sweet to my nose), and Aliyah,( steroidal sugar and butter on my skin) they are difficult blends for me to pull off. But I am open minded. It's still brand new.. let's see what it can do with some time and patience. It can be so worth the wait.

  5. On my skin, Aliyah is less about the peaches and honey, and so much more about BUTTERCREAM! Ultra sweet gourmand foody scent on me. I do tend to amp sugars and buttery notes, so just something to consider if reading my review. The honey is mostly, an invisible entity on my skin, and the hint o' peach that I get are of the syrupy variety. If I had to compare this to another LP, I would say that to me, it is rather like Whisker Wishes, HEAVILY slathered in sweet, buttercream frosting. No musk notes come through on me at all. I'm not sure that I am going to be able to do this one on its own. I will experiment with my trial vial, give it some aging time, and perhaps see if it works after mellowing. If that doesn't do the trick, then maybe layering it with a little SLF? Fans of buttercream should adore this if it smells the same way on others as it does on me.

  6. Nutrix, for me, the brown sugar and DARK vanilla are a very delicate thing. I'm not a huge fan of the brown sugar note truthfully. My skin amps it like CRAZY! This is why I rely on OCCO Black to make LP Black work for me. The incensey notes to the OCCO Black, help balance the brown sugar and dark vanilla on my skin. Works like magick!

  7. Got my FB of NOX w/ Teddy BB. It's difficult to review this one fairly since if you read my comments on the 2009 version of NOX, you will see that as much as it is one of my favorites, it was definitely NOT love at first sniff! Far from it. When I first sniffed 2009, I was just overwhelmed by the berry sweetness of it. Dark, sticky, sweet, medicinal. As I have said before.. cough medicine. At *least* a few months of aging and WOW!!! Did that ever change. I will liken this to, what to my nose, was an ugly duckling blooming into an unspeakably beautiful swan. Albeit, a black swan. Dark, rare, mysterious.. OMG...

Now, for this version. This one, both in the bottle, and on my skin, reads a lot more like a sweet, sugary, berry candy rather than the medicinal scent that the 2009 brew had. There is also a particular amber note in this one, almost sheer and confection-like, which at this point, is not working the magic that the former did on my skin. This note is quite insistent, as it remains quite present and strong, even as the berries go away, and I am not yet certain that I embrace this. There is a faint and lovely incensey element to it for sure. BUT..given my relationship history with NOX and all of its notorious leanings toward changeability, I feel that I am going to need to report back on NOX w/ Teddy BB in a few months or so in order to get, and give a more accurate sense of what this one is really capable of. NO LP has ever demonstrated better for me, the concept of NEVER underestimating the power of aging with perfume oils! I sniff my 2009 version now, in all its divinity, and can not fathom it ever having smelled the way it did at first! Stashing this one away for a bit to see what happens when it ages and does its magickal thing.

  8. Beccah, that sounds *wonderful*! And so is Dominance Perfume! This is so beautiful. I am so, so happy to see that this is part of the permanent collection! I opened the bottle, inhaled, and OMG..heaven! I smelled a soft, gentle, powdery cocoa, married with an incredibly gorgeous rose with lots of DEPTH. I figured with my weird skin chemistry, there was just no way it would smell the same on my skin, but much to my surprise, it DOES!! There is something of a red wine like quality to this beauty, and perfectly blended with the cocoa, it is not to my nose, an overwhelming rose at all, which can be a common issue with roses. I don't really pick up much of the musk - but I do detect something else in there, lending an exotic aura to this and I am assuming that this would be the musk. Just...wow..beautiful! To me, there is something wonderfully reminiscent of Fascination Potion in this. I think it might be a similar rose note? Sniffing away and loving it. My only problem with this one is that my skin seems to love it so much that it drinks it up pretty fast. That part is a bummer, but all the more reason to go FB on this when I pull the trigger! As for the Dominance phero, I'm afraid that I am a lot like halo in that respect, in that I have a very high threshold for them and need to use them in much more intense levels to notice self effects. That said, this is just exquisite! Brava, Potion Master! xo

ETA: I stand corrected.. this LP *does* last on me! The cocoa and rose back quite a bit, giving way to a luscious heart of sweet. rich, amber and a dreamy musk! So.. top notes of powdery, dark cocoa, deep red wine - like roses, middle, and base notes of a precious, classic, SEXXXY amber/musk combo???? E-P-I-C winner! Swooning! ETA AGAIN: I have been wearing this one a lot, sniffing a lot, loving it a lot! I am just wondering.. while it is not listed in the notes, once this dries down, I pick up a sweet, pretty note that is quite like honey to me. I am guessing that this is likely either the type of Amber and/or Musk in it? Mara, can you please enlighten me on this? I love it, and for future reference, it would help to know. I have not seen in the reviews of others, that anyone else has had it play this way on their skin?
