  1. Really? ^^^ I totally get the grass, it threw me off initially because I needed to figure out if I liked it or not because I was so distracted by it. Earth? In a bottle? And grass? It's really unique! Such a pity you didn't get the whole spectrum :(

Indeed. I was really hoping for the grass and earth; I especially love grass. Those two may be more prominent next time but if not then I'll file it for a pay it forward treat!

  2. I just got this and I hate it. I have never met a LP Lavender that I don't love but this is it. Mara said it smells like stinky toes and she is right. It's got a funk to it. It almost smells like pot to me. Not pot smoke but the actual dried weed smell. I had to wash it off so maybe the magic happens after an hour but I couldn't take it.

Maybe not Provence in this case. Yurg.

  3. Cougar is great in spray. It just takes time to figure out what works. Even in the cold you're indoors so you should get hits. But hits come it all sizes and most often when you're not looking.

Often you might notice after the fact. I started with LP in the late fall of '12 and I live in NY, it is cold in the winter. I takes some trial and error. To lessen the error part I read the review posts of the the specific pheros, if someone didn't state how much they used I'd ask in that thread. I found it easier to focus down on specific pheros as dosages for each blend can vary.

I only really noticed any success with TH this past fall. If you are focusing on a specific blend the thread for it is the best help. There are many factors like which blend specifically and what are you looking for from that blend. It takes a little time.

As far as varying for the cold, Maras tips up thread work well.

Thanks for all this. Plenty to ponder!

Now. I know I advocate a good slather...although that's mainly with perfumes - and because I love to be enveloped in the scents that I adore. I don't concern myself with OD on the "pheromas" because I just haven't had it happen with any of them yet. Of course you can always boost a blend in a perfume by layering with the Un version of the same thing, which I've also done. I don't slather the un pheros like I do the pheromas or perfumes though, and I am constantly getting great hits.

    Is the question:

How do you diffuse while walking about outside, in passing...like on the train, bus, at the store...while you're all bundled up?

I've not had trouble with diffusion in the winter (I'm in PA - snowed in right now as a matter of fact!). Indoors my scents and pheros work great and I've gotten hits barely in the door at work and on the sidewalk out side while I'm still bundled up - we're talking gloves, hat, scarves...leather coat to keep the heat in and wind out. I'm mean - winter garb not conducive to diffusion, seriously, at least you would think so.

I figure if I can smell the perfume on me before I leave the house, or wafting up from beneath my scarf while I'm driving or in a store, then the pheros are certainly making their way out too. I don't have to be more than a few feet from someone to have them hit...the exception being if you're outside and it's terribly windy...but grocery stores, home depot, train, just stepping into the office building...you name it...hits galore. It may not get 10 feet out while I'm fully bundled, but a few moments in my 3 foot radius and BAM! And if it's and office space and I stay put long enough it stretches beyond that.

Back of neck, collarbone, torso and backs of hands seem to be golden for me. I'm also one of the girls who put on my clothes before everything completely dries down and I can smell it on my blouse and bra at the end of the day when they go to laundry - Mmmmm, huffable.....so maybe that's a good trick too?

Nah, indoors but in a cold room in a stone building and fairly distant from the target(s), though for a good two hours or so at a stretch. Please don't ask me to say how much distance -- my judgement thereof is terrible and living with the metric system means I've simply forgotten US/Imperial but also haven't learned metric... but I'd guess maybe 6-12 feet if I had to. If all you more experienced folks think it sounds like it should be diffusing thus then I'll just persist. I certainly trust your superior experience!

  4. My philosophy is I have to really like the phero. I always start out with any phero (even the socials) in oil. You can get plenty of hits with oil alone but I do love having both. You actually use a lot less over all if you have both.

That's my problem. I can't tell what I think of the phero because I seem not to be getting much out of any of them, which leads me to believe it's diffusion that's the core issue. Luckily I adore the scent of Cougar, so I don't mind the idea of being in a little spray cloud of it even if the phero doesn't draw any hits.

  5. Hi Donise,

That only happened to me with one product, but it was with a product by another company. I felt compelled to talk while wearing it and since then I tend to stay away from Beta blends.

I knew to expect this sort of thing and I never felt out of control, just sort disinhibited. I will be certain never to wear this near my face, though.

  6. I agree with you Donise on how frustrating this is when trying to figure out what works and what doesn't work for us. And I think you summed up my experience as well. I think the phero/scent is there, but it just not getting out there like it does in the summer, it feels like to me.

My skin is not eating the fragranced pheros because I can get whiffs of it when I am wearing them in the colder weather, but it just seems like people have to be in my skin in order for the mone cloud to hit them. For example I will ask my mom or someone else to smell me when its cold and they have to get under a foot close to me to get a whiff. That makes me feel like it is not getting out there the same as in the summer.

This is interesting. I haven't done the moisturizing thing lately except when I wore LFM recently and I had to do some tap dancing to get it out there. But the scents aren't fading on me. I can smell them - I just want others to smell them more easily too! :)

Exactly this. I can certainly smell everything but short of slithering up against people or shoving their face into my chest/neck/wrists I don't think it's really getting to them! So, I can't really judge what is just diffusion and what is just not a blend that suits me/them/the situation.

I had settled on oils, but I may switch to sprays ...in this case.

I am hemming and hawing about whether to get Cougar Potion in spray or to get a roll-on and split it turning half into spray myself so I can do a base coat of oil and top it off with a spritz of Cougar. If I get small spray bottles and perfumer's alcohol then I can draw off a bit of the socials in oil (base coat) and have some in spray for when the British weather isn't being cooperative. But I might just decide to let a professional do the work and get a pre-made spray! ^_^

I've got some great hits by spritzing 2 sprays in my clothes and just 2swipes of oil.

    Using socials.

This is why I'm thinking of getting it in oil and then using some to make a spray myself. I'm not sure I can afford to buy every social I'd like in both forms but I do see a lot of sense in having a slow-burn oil with a quicker, far-reaching spray on top.

  7. I was surprised to read how many of you got stand-out grape from this as I can't smell it consistently wet or dry, it sort of fades in an out (and considering the way fruits have gone on me that's a good thing).

The stand-out scent on me, both wet and dry, is chocolate & nuts. It smells like some unusual dessert (could also have something to do with marshmallow?) with nuts at the front and a touch of lime toward the back. The zingy lime fades as the perfume dries but boy do those nuts remain. In the place of the lime I think I get a touch of the amber once it has been on for a few hours but nothing too prominent. Nothing of the ginger that I could smell.

It's very complex but I don't know that it's for me. We'll see what the second application holds!

  8. Got this as a sniffie and was unsure what to expect. It's very fruity wet. Although watermelon isn't listed in the notes (other melons are) that was what I got and it struck me as a strong sort of watermelon bubblegum. I didn't get the earth or grass, even on dry-down, which was sad. It just persisted as little girl melon candy.

I've noticed that fruit doesn't seem to work very well on me. While I love the smell of fresh musk, honeydew, cantaloupe and other such melons I cannot stand watermelon in any form. So, for you folks who like sweet, juicy (water?)melon this could be a winner but it's not for me.

  9. Hi, Mara.

I just wanted to double-check that I've understood everything correctly since this is my first time engaging with the various LP rewards for forum members. I plan to make an order once Feb. NRs are out and before I do I wanted to be sure that I am:

A: an active forum member for the purposes for the two trial vials freebie

B: able to start redeeming my post credits ($5 for my first 200 posts) so long as my next order is over $25

Thanks for your patience in answering this when it's probably just me being overly careful (I do think I've understood what I've read on this thread), but I thought that was better than being mistaken and possibly causing trouble when it came time to pack and ship my next order.

    Cheers! :heart708:

  10. I think I may have had my first hit today wearing Cougar Potion.

I put on quite a lot (seemed like slathering for me but I know you scent junkies would be unlikely to be impressed) before choir practice. When I walked in two of the in-group were chatting with the adorable choir director/ACD (who is always the target of anything I wear ) and I decided to stop to talk although I am NOT part of the in-group. Well, I said something funny and one of the girls just threw her arm around my shoulder and gave me a squeeze and said affectionately, "Oh, Donsie" as she laughed! This is so unlike anything she's ever done I thought to myself "must be the pheros". She's normally friendly enough but in a general group way. She's never even stood that close to me.

I didn't notice much from ACD, sadly. It's hard because the place we sing is so effin' cold and he's probably too distant for oil diffusion. Still, there were one or two little things that I suppose could have been to do with the pheros, but maybe just coincidence. I suppose I'd have to wear this around him again to be sure.

This smells so, so good, by the way! The grapefruit is gorgeous (other singers asked what the awesome smells was) and the dry-down of musk, amber, and sugar is beautiful, too. I also think that compared to what I was expecting in terms of fast burn-off the grapefruit has persisted for about about 5.5 hours now, though obviously not as loud as it was wet. I only got this sample on a whim to try as many different things as possible and it has turned out to be one of my favourites so far. I am really hoping to get a full bottle.

ETA: Wow, she was still really friendly to me when I saw everyone again this weekend, so I guess Cougar made a lasting impression. Keep in mind I have been in choir with this person for three years so it's not like she suddenly met and liked me. Cougar is magical friend juice.

  11. Wet I got a big waft of cocoa butter which dried into... creamy and sweet cocoa butter mixed with a tiny hint of coconut, all topped with a clear floral accompaniment. And wow, I am getting some spice! If this is the smell of a biscuit then it's one sat on a very proper lady's dressing table!

  12. Just Ducky, I'm finding that I can't really do honey, which makes me sad:( Years ago there was a lotion called honey & almond (def. not even a name-brand thing) that I loved, and I would love to get a PE to resemble it if it would be even possible. But honey on me always seems to smell dirty now:(

That is very sad -- I am sad for you and your honey troubles. Have you asked PM if there is some clean honey note out in the wide world that she could try for all you folks who can't get on with the glorious bee vomit?

  13. I love Seer, it's a manly scent but its oh so intriguing I really love this one

It went pretty schnuggly on me and despite reminding me of Opa's tobacco I didn't find it masculine per se. I never really got other notes besides vanilla. I wish my skin chemistry weren't so girly! But who knows what will happen when I try it again?

  14. I really hope there's something that smells like freshly cut grass, but maybe February is early for that. And Easter isn't until April, so really I've no real ideas of what might await us this month... but there's not long to wait to find out, after all!
