  1. Ok - my reviews...

OCCO RED: Where has this been all my life? I like better than LP Red because if there is any patchouli in this - it's not doing the evil patchouli amp. Yee Haw! I am S-e-x-a-a-a-y!!! I could swim in this. I am huffing myself like a fiend. Nom nom nom.;-)

This is wonderful to hear! I also like LP red until I put it on, then its all patchouli and the next thing I know my husband is calling me a dirty hippy...

  2. And, by the way, when I was discussing international shipping with Gaia earlier, I blended up a mix with 60% alcohol and 40% DPG as a test. This is a very nifty combo. It results in a lite "oil spray". I like it. It's easily spray-able, and feels silky on the skin. I wonder if this might be the best of both worlds...diffusion plus length of wear. Will test further and report.

This is all very exciting! I have been layering oil-based and alcohol-based pheros for a while now towards this goal and I'd love to have an all-in-one product that gave the same results!

  3. Welcome Geena. One thing I experienced when I started wearing LP perfumes was a complete transformation of my taste in perfume over a period of a few months. Things I thought were weird or not me at first eventually became some of my favorites.

So you might hang onto some of the ones that aren't your favorites and give them another try in a few weeks, just in case the same thing happens to you.

Also be sure and try everything on your skin, because some of the perfumes change alot when worn.

  4. So I took this one out of the "meh" dish -- where I put samples that seem pleasant but don't reach out and grab me right away. I have ongoing brokeness and can't buy anything new, so this dish has been used quite a bit lately to soothe my addiction, and has forced me to do what I should do anyway (try everything on my skin, not just sniff from the vial, before discounting) ...

anyhoo, this is really nice. As it dried down it started reminding me of something more and more -- sugared apricots! I think my skin amps the apricot over everything else. Which is great because I like apricots. I will definitely be wearing this some more!

  5. I received a sample of this in a trade and -- wow! I had sniffed it in the vial a couple of times and found it pleasant but not overly-interesting. Tonight I swiped some on my arm and just can't stop smelling myself. Sophisticated fruit would be my short description.

  6. Someone sent me a little sniffy of this in a trade. Oh, it smelled wonderful in the vial. I didn't realize it had patchouli in it or I probably would not have tried it (strangely I couldn't detect it when I sniffed the vial). Alas, I swiped some on and left for a get together with friends. Within 10 minutes the patchouli had amped on my skin to the point where I could smell nothing else.

I ended up trying to wash my arms off with soap and water (after several good-natured "dirty hippy" jokes from my friends) but could still smell it. I took a long hot bath this morning and then applied brown sugar BAM, but I'm pretty sure I am still detecting the patchouli.

Ah well, important lesson learned. I can't wear patchouli....

  7. As far as the cookies go, maybe your friend can recommend a similar recipe, and then I can alchemically tweak away in my kitchen!

Okay, I know that she purchased bulgarian rose oil, I think from this place: organic bulgarian rose oil and that only one drop of this oil goes into a very large batch of cookies.

The cookies I think are more or less a basic sugar cookie recipe, the fat is shortening (bleh, I try not to think about it), and the most difficult part is getting that one drop of rose oil distributed in the dough. I think she dilutes the rose oil drop in like a Tbsp of liquid veg. oil and then creams that into the shortening and sugar.

Personally I'd use butter to avoid the trans fats but she says that messes up the flavor.

  8. I want to say thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. Also, I am looking for some suggestions on a scent. I tend to prefer subtle spicy, woodsy smells to hit-you-over-the-head fruity, flowery smells. I love using pheromones, but the ones I use either reek of BO or make me smell like a girl.

They do custom-blended private editions here. I haven't ordered one of my own design yet but I have samples/bottles of other peoples that are really fabulous.

Anyway, if you have an idea of what notes you want it is something to consider.

What pheros make you smell like a girl? Are you talking about scents that accompany them or the pheros themselves?

  9. Thanks for the reply! I haven't used the plain oil-based EoW yet, just pherogirl and some other mixes.

Because it DOES turn into a one step process - you have no need to add any cover scent to one of my EoW boosted perfumes, but that still doesn't eliminate the dry down stage.

As Dolly said, I try to use ingredients that well mask the scent of EoW, but it still bleeds through, and some times more than others. I have noticed that with MY skin, the smell of the EoW is very loud upon application, and I have to reserve my opinion of the final scent during dry down, for 10-15 minutes, until the scent of the cops calms down. It still goes through THAT stage. It's great in the bottle, might smell wonky a few seconds after it hits my skin, and then 10-15 minutes later, it's great again.

You should wait the 15 minutes if you are layering over pure EoW because you need to give the cops time to calm down on your skin. You're not going to properly judge the appropriate level of cover you need if you're frantically trying to bury the smell of wet cops.

  10. okay, I have a general question about cops.

Why is it that, if I'm going to wear EOW and then cover it with another oil based LP scent, the recommendation is to let it dry down for 15 mins, but if I order the same LP scent boosted with EOW, the two step process magically turns into a one step process?

I can understand the dry down/cover steps if one is going to cover with an alcohol base fragrance. Doesn't make any sense if the cover is in the same base.

  11. My current top fiive:

    1. Pherogirl/Une
