  1.

Totally! I would NEVER have attempted to buy a home in California unless I needed to...and as I am not in the entertainment industry anymore, I do not need to.

We are not going to be in Portland proper, just that metropolitan area, but on the Washington state side, just across the river from Portland and minutes away. The home prices are 1/3rd of that of California (200 grand = 600 grand). The rents, currently, are around a third less....what would cost you 1200-1400 per month in rent in L.A. is currently around 800-1000 in the area. I also checked the supermarket...around 1/4 less on the prices, and the gasoline is an entire dollar+ less per gallon. Property taxes on both sides of the WA/OR border are about the same. No idea about California because I've never owned anything here, but everyone complains, loudly.

In Wash state, there is no personal income tax...in Oregon it's 11% I am told. AND, the weirdest new law was enacted in Portland within the last 2 years, in which vendors have to pay 10% tax off their international gross!!! That's even worse than California, the highest in the country, where we have to pay 11% sales tax for all sales that take place only within the state. But to enact a gross international tax is INSANE! Customers pay no sales tax in Oregon, but vendors are charged 10% gross?! I was rather shocked to find this out. My mom is in the money market business and she said it sounds like a 21% difference, but would end up being a 16% difference to our business, and that's a lot, as our business model makes our profit margin pretty low. We buy very expensive ingredients and supplies, and pay our employees very well. We do not have that much dispensable income. (If you guys knew how little I earn personally...lol...I make less than my employees and they all live better than me...but I am happy living a creative life surrounded by my cats, so that's perfectly ok with me!)

So, on the weekends, there's the 'Portland Market' where artists who make their own stuff are allowed to rent booths. We are looking forward to this, as I had a shop on Venice Beach for 10 years and I miss meeting and talking to people like I used to. It's an incredibly artist-friendly, arts-supportive area. Eventually, we realize we will have to rent commercial space, but I currently love the family atmosphere of working that we have now. John and I have been friends for 20 years and we feel like brother and sister. Jessica and her hubby and 4 kids feel like family to us too, and, boy oh boy, I do hope they come with us!

I wonder if you'll be double-taxed on things, living in WA and selling from Portland? I know for me living in WA and working in OR I get double taxed, but maybe it's different for owning a business?

But I'm excited to hear you'll be at the Portland Market. I'd suggest also having booths up in some of the events that go on, like the Vampire Masquerade Ball and such. I think that those that frequent such events would take a liking to LP :]

  2. Okay, I got the most unexpected hit with this.

I swiped some on last weekend for a friend's early Halloween party, because I knew it would give me a kick of confidence and I'm very comfortable with my friend and her friends and knew that nothing would get out of hand. I had a delicious aura of spicy-sweet goodness and a kick-ass, bad-girl confidence about me at her party, and had a ton of fun. The girls were hitting on me sweetly, telling me how cute and sexy I was, while the guys were giving me looks of approval but giving me my space. It was awesome.

Then the guy-thing texted, asking me to come over. We've been a little rough, but he kept asking and I was unusually bold, telling him no way if it was just gonna be a booty call and whatnot. Finally caved and went over there.

Once I was there he embraced me and kissed me fiercely, pulling me slowly but surely to his bedroom. I stopped him and said, "this is suspiciously like what you told me it wasn't." He said, "there's no suspicion about it, but it's not." I was going to protest but he kissed me again and my knees melted.

Once we got to his bedroom though it was a completely different story. It was the most gentle night of lovemaking I've ever had. I don't like to use the term "making love" but I don't know how else to describe it, and he's definitely not that kind of guy at all. He's also the kind of guy that won't remove all his clothes - he likes having some kind of barrier, no matter how thin, in between to keep some kind of space. But this night it was like he wanted to bare himself to me, remove all barriers and connect. The entire time there was this massive tension in the room, this crazy feeling that he wanted to tell me something but just couldn't. And during it all I kept seeing tropical flowers blooming in my mind, which was so odd to me.

In the morning, he was back to his regular rough and tumble self, which is really more my style. But it was just so strange to me that he reacted like this to Sexpionage, which really wasn't what I was looking for or expecting.

  3. This is SHOCKINGLY NAUGHTY. Wet, of course it did remind me a bit of Cats Eye - but Cats Eye to my nose/on my skin is more polished and fit for polite company, lol ... this is jawdroppingly in-your-face slutty. Not that that's bad :666: This has an interesting cotton or linen aspect to it as it's drying down that I really dig.

This doesn't resemble my HAM to my nose at all... My HAM is brighter & on me it does this intense floral thing. This one is all no-foreplay rip-my-clothes-off-with-your-teeth. This with Sexpionage would be nuclear.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that got the absolute SLUTTINESS of this one! I was starting to think it was just me...haha!

  4. So I put on some Cat's Eye the other day just to remember it, and today I put on some Eye of the Moggie. Moggie seems a little brighter, and just a little dirtier in a more "out there" way, but it could easily be because it hasn't aged like Cat's Eye has. Moggie isn't as dark and purring, but mmm, I'm still in musky happyland. It's like what my room would smell like if I spent all day and night with the most deliciously wicked man. :purr:

  5. I PREDICT MELODIE'S ROMANTIC NIGHTS WILL BE BOOSTED WITH...LESSEE...LFM, FOR PHEROMAS!

where is lesreveurs anyway? does she even know how beloved her neologism is? someone should write carols.

She can't remember her forum info xD

Off topic, and funny story: I work with her. She came in from a smoke break and said she wished she had something to cover it up better so I handed her a little trial vial of something I had here. She did a double take and then started laughing, saying we ordered from the same company.

  6. Ah, words from the "Pick-up Artist" world.

    IOI = indicator of interest

    From About.com:

"The word kino is short for kinesthetic approach, meaning physical touch with the intention of getting to know someone better. A commonly referred to word in the pickup artist world, kino usually refers to the act of touching someone in a non-threatening manner in order to build trust to eventually have sex with them. Kino can involve subtle touches such as brushing up against one's arm, holding hands, or stroking someone's hair."

I would be very careful in this forum as there are definitely more female posters than men, and this is not like most of the other male-dominated phero forums.

  7. ERRRR I don't recall seeing this question or answer but in case already answered, SELF ELF (my device doesn't let me see the emos :( ) -- if we already unknowingly ordered a sampler for "august" only, how/where do we indicate which ones we want....? Can we just email?

I think Mara said to send a follow-up e-mail to indicate the ones you want...which I still need to do!

Pro-Create - Creativity and Fertility Potion

This is the fierce and fabulous Tara - a rare orange tabby female *and* poly dactyl, and one of her orange boys. She showed up on my porch, stole my heart and *despite* the fact that she will not be with my boys, continues to be with me. She was a wonderful momma even though I know it must have been her first litter, and that at a very young age. She's as beautiful as a cat can be, and as dangerous! Her favorite game is the 'tummy trap'... 1) Lie on ground, roll over and present irresistible floofy belly to human 2) Wait for the inevitable 3) SWIPE! For her, it never grows old!

Is this the infamous "Tummy Trap?"
