  1. Review on Love Potion’s “Passion in Pink”

Pheromone ingredients: Contains the “heart and soul” pheromone blend, which has ingredients of estratetraenol, beta androstenol, alpha androstenol, androsterone, epi-androsterone. Note: no copulins.

Price: Good value at $29.95 for a 10mL bottle.

Presentation: Such a cute little puppy on the front! Very pink and girly. I got the roll-on bottle and as always it was filled right to the top, and no leaks so far. Can’t complain about that :)

Smell: Wow. Just wow. I can’t describe how much I love this. I know I’ve written about loving fragrances before, but this and Jungle Colada are definitely my two favourites out of all the fragrances I have tried so far. I would buy this just for the smell.

My first impression of the smell was that it was not nearly as sickly sweet as I was expecting. It smelt like real sugar, burnt sugar. I sometimes literally expect sugar granules to roll out onto my arm when I roll this on, it smells like there is just thick, sugary syrup with crunchy sugar granules in this bottle. On me it smells like cake or something delicious and sweet, with just a fiery, peppery tease underneath it all that adds so much depth to it. I’m reminded of Pink Sugar Sensual – not the usual Pink Sugar everyone is probably familiar with, but its more “mature” partner, that for some reason is not nearly as popular. In any case it is so much richer than either of the Pink Sugars, perhaps due to it being in a concentrated oil.

The pink, sweetish element dries down on me a fair bit, and I am left with a sweet, spicy smell. Two people now, in different settings with different groups, neither of whom knew I was wearing anything, have commented that they can smell curry while they were near me wearing this, and I don’t recall that ever happening before, so I am convinced it is not just coincidence. I have yet to decide if smelling like curry is a good thing or not! Certainly I love the smell of PiP, despite the fact that I hate curry – something about this sweet spiciness is just sooo good. In neither case did the person seem to trace the scent back to me. The guy who commented in the office today seemed to say it like it was a good thing, as in “what delicious food is that?”, and C1 commented that the smell made him hungry.

What do you guys think of the smell of curry (even if you don’t like curry itself)? Love it, hate it?

    Results:

I’ve worn this out in a few different settings now and I have definitely noticed an effect. Nothing I have experienced has been really extraordinary, but enough “possible coincidences” have occurred while wearing this that I am reasonably sure the effects are pheromone related.

To me this product creates a very cosy, chatty, opening up vibe, and has the effect of “slowing down” people – I’m not sure if that makes sense, so I’ll explain in more detail.

I wore it to a party at a club (not a nightclub, just one of those places with restaurants and a dance floor etc) with mostly people I didn’t know, along with two sprays of Glace (am I allowed to mention products from other companies here?). Glace supposedly increases chattiness, so I mention this as it may have had an effect on these results, not just the PiP alone. One guy, in his sixties (so a good four decades older than me), ended up spending nearly two hours telling me his life story. He didn’t seem to be showing any sexual interest in me thank goodness, but seemed to really want to talk about some deeply personal stuff. He went into great detail about his years on the police force and the horrible things he had witnessed – including describing to me in more detail than I wanted about one particularly mutilated body he had found, ugh, I won’t even get into the description here. He told me how hard it was to tell the daughter of a man who had been murdered that her father was dead, and all the guilt he felt, even though it wasn’t his fault. He said he thought he had post traumatic stress disorder, and sometimes woke up screaming from nightmares. And then said he had trouble talking to people about this stuff! And all this while at a party, trying to almost yell to be heard over the loud music!

I have no idea if this kind of behaviour was normal from him or not, but he didn’t seem to talk to anyone else all night – when he wasn’t talking to me he was just sitting by himself. So certainly something about me seemed to invite him to open up to me.

Today I wore PiP to work and C1 (who those from PheroTruth will be familiar with as my co-worker crush who has “friend zoned” me, and has no idea how I feel...) was unusually nice to me. There was a different vibe about our conversation. We were catching up after circumstances had seen us apart for almost two weeks, which is a long time when you are used to seeing someone every day, so that may have played a role – again his behaviour could be due to other factors, I cannot conclusively say it was the pheromones, but I do suspect it was. I had lots of news, although a good deal of it was on some rather unhappy goings-on in my life at the moment that I would rather not get into here. He is usually pretty awkward having these deeper conversations, but he seemed much more comfortable this time. The conversation just kind of flowed, and even though it was me doing the opening up, he had some pretty nice things to say as well. And he seemed to have all the time in the world for me, in fact we both ended up late because we lost track of time. Normally he is looking for a way out quickly as soon as the conversation gets a bit heavy.

I am parting ways soon with a young child I have been taking care of (long story!) and I expressed my concern for her. He said “I’m sure she’ll find another guardian angel to care for her”. That is a REALLY out of character thing for him to say – in fact so much so that I took it as a joke and began to run with it, only to have him look a little hurt and explain that he had actually meant it. I am so used to him joking around and everything having a punch line to it, that I almost didn’t recognise him being serious! I had to explain this to him to clear the air. Another nice thing he said was “you’ll make a great mother someday”. Again I was looking for a punch line, usually it is all insults from him, though they are jovial of course and I give as good as I get. But he seemed genuine.

Other times I have worn this around others the mood has always been relaxed, gentle and comfortable. I had a beautiful day with a close friend wearing this, sitting in a winery garden under a gazebo, feeling the dappled sunlight, sipping white wine and eating cheese and crackers and watching the birds... hours went by as we just enjoyed these simple things.

As far as self-effects go, I have definitely noticed this influencing my mood. Too much and I get quite down and depressed. The right amount makes me feel relaxed and calm. There is apparently alpha androstenol in this, but I don’t feel the effect of it in the way I have in other products. The main danger from this product for me is that it has the effect of “slowing me down”, sometimes to the point of lethargy or depression. I have to be careful not to put on too much.

One final note – I converted some of this into spray form today. I am convinced it made the scent spread further, although it was weaker. The guy commenting on the curry smell was a good four or five metres away.

In conclusion – I just love, love this one. Mara, if ever you are going to stop making this, please let me know in advance so I can stock up on a couple of bottles. I am dead serious. I simply adore this and would hate to run out and be unable to get more!

  2. Ravenwing, that is soo bizarre. I will have to experiment with that now that you have mentioned it. How strange! Oh there is so much to learn :P

Thanks Gaby :) I am fond of Sensual Harmony as well. So far my favourite is Jungle Colada, I have ordered more of that :)

  3. Ahh! All making sense now! PheroTruth was my first attempt at a forum ever, I guess I thought all forums were exactly the same LOL :) I like the idea of having threads dedicated to each product, makes the information really easy to find. I'll contribute what I can there :)

  4. I'm so glad I found this thread. I have been wanting to experiment with perfume oils and perfumer's alcohol but want to make sure I know what I'm doing before I start. I'd also like to share what I've learnt for anyone else trying to do this in Australia.

It seems to be difficult to get perfumer's alcohol (or any alcohol for that matter) shipped to Australia - see this page for a discussion. Some of the major places that sell perfumer's alcohol will not let the order go through when your address is entered as Australia - I have tried. One option is the conversion kits sold here that have a little alcohol in them. However they are supposed to be sent 2/3 full and apparently this creates problems when shipping overseas.

    ------------------------

As far as just buying normal alcohol, I see a few people have mentioned Everclear in this thread, but I don't think we have that here. I read around a bit and the general consensus was to try a product called Polmos' Spirytus Rektyfikowany (basically "Refined Spirit" in Polish). It is 95% alcohol and a 500mL bottle from Dan Murphys (a large liquor chain we have here) is $58.99. See here for more info. A bit on the pricey side, but nothing beats the convenience of ducking down to your local liquor store and just picking up a bottle then and there, no waiting around for orders to ship or worrying if they will get through customs.

So I now have the alcohol, some perfume oils and a few mixing bottles... but even though I have all the tools I am too scared to risk my precious oils by trying to mix them! Does anyone have any suggestions? So far I am just figuring 1/3 oil and 2/3 alcohol in a spray bottle, and I know I will have to shake it beforehand each time. Is there anything else I should know? Any advice would be most welcome! :)

    Thanks all!

  5. Here is my review on Tabby, shared from PT forums. As background info, I have experienced interesting, caffeine-like self-effects with alpha androstenol before, as you will see from the below.

Pheromone ingredients: contains the “Dominance” blend, a mix of alpha androstenol, beta androsterone and alpha androsterone

Price: Good value at $29.95 for 10ml oil.

Presentation: Cute label on roll-on bottle. Subtle enough to carry around in my bag, so long as no one gets a close look at it. Came filled to the top and with no leaks.

Smell: I have to admit it: I really don’t like this smell. To me it just smells chemically, like glue or nail polish, and I’m talking about on me as well as in the bottle. At best I can smell a little musk or flowery smell, but neither of these are smells I'm fond of (I normally only like flowery if it is a bit fresh or fruity, but this kind of flowery just made me want to sneeze). I am sure this is a case of the old metaphor of not appreciating a good red wine because my taste buds are still too immature in that regard, as I see people on the Love Potion forums raving about the smell. However I guess it is just not one for me. I find myself wondering what the guys around me would think of it as a smell too, I just can’t imagine that they would like it, although I'm sure someone else on here will probably be able to tell me of a guy that has said they do. Fortunately for me the smell seems to have a low “presence” on me, and I could probably work at covering it with something like Pink Sugar or layer it with something else – but it’s not a fragrance I would want to wear on its own.

Results: Here’s the interesting thing... I had completely forgotten what the ingredients were for this the first few times I wore it. But when I put it on – not even that much, just a healthy dose (approx two x five inch strips?) – I started having the increased heart rate thing again. I felt as though I was on caffeine, I wanted to talk faster than I actually could, started tripping over my words, and had to keep consciously forcing myself to slow down. This is exactly what caffeine does to me. I actually thought, this feels really unusual, I have no reason to feel this way... this is just how I felt when I put on too much Scent of Eros... could I have put that on by mistake? But it was definitely not Scent of Eros. I went to check the ingredients for Dominance and lo and behold... alpha androstenol is the main ingredient! Now I am convinced that it is this molecule having this effect on me. I don’t care what anyone says about alpha androstenol hasn’t been reported to do this, etc etc, I KNOW this is having an effect on me. Maybe I am weird and this is a one-in-a-million reaction unique to me, but I am certain I’m not imagining it. I even forgot I was wearing this and still had the effect, and only thought about what I was wearing once I had started feeling different, so I don’t think it’s a placebo.

Hahaha maybe I have had my “OMG Pheromones DO work!” moment with this... only it was not in the good way I had expected or hoped for!!

Due to these self-effects I think I am having trouble gauging reactions on other people objectively, as it is likely they are reacting more to the caffeine-hyped me than anything else, which ironically enough would probably produce the opposite effect to the respect this mix is supposed to help promote. I got Tabby initially because I wanted something to run classes and hold meetings with my (what shall I call them? My subordinates? My apprentices? Let’s just call them my minions... muahahaha wink.gif ) where I would be listened to and treated with respect. I should also mention I think I generally conduct myself in a way that says I expect to be respected regardless, have been doing this for many years and am quite confident in it, and I am also quite tall for a girl – for this reason I have even been called “intimidating”.

Anyway I ran a couple of meetings with Tabby on and I was certainly treated with respect, but when I thought about it I really wasn’t treated all that differently to normal – I think they usually treat me with quite a lot of respect anyway smile.gif If anything they were very forgiving of the fact that I was a bit all over the place and stumbling over my words and thoughts, but I think that speaks more to the fact that they were already in a frame of mind to respect me from their previous interactions with me, and so they are a bit generous with me if I’m not 100% every now and then. If anything I think the pheromones may have held me back.

I have decided that Tabby may not be the most useful for dealing with the minions for me. It may end up being useful for some other situation, and I’m not going to give up on it just yet, as you never know when it might come in handy, but I just haven’t decided yet what else I might use it for. Probably in combination with something else, and in very low doses or put it in places (e.g. back of neck?) that will minimise self-effects.

So even though I don’t think this mix worked all that well for me, it has made me realise that I don’t really need a respect mix, at least not for this situation – and I am not sure anymore why I thought I did? Without meaning to brag, I think I am plenty respected enough already smile.gif In any case, I have learnt something new about myself and for that I am always grateful smile.gif

  6. I'm a bit late coming to this thread and I haven't even had a chance to read through it all yet but here is my impression:

In alphabetical order, to avoid any potential bias:

Orchid Rose: Subtle and florally. I could definitely smell the copulins when I first put it on. It has that tangy, citrusy, fresh smell of roses outdoors. Unfortunately to me it reminds me of my grandma’s smell, so I am thinking in retrospect that she must have been a rose fragrance wearer. Perhaps for that reason it makes me think it is more of an old person’s smell, a bit more mature and respectable. It could also be that I tried this the day after trying Pink Amber and there is an obvious contrast there with that being a very young, girly smell. It did grow on me more throughout the day though, and the cops smell definitely died down after dry down. For some reason I was thinking about what it would be like in a linen spray, aside from the cops I think it would be a very nice, subtle, clean linen spray.

I must say, one thing I am learning about Love Potion’s scents is that they actually smell like what they are supposed to. You know how when you get a strawberry flavoured lolly, you expect it to taste like strawberry lolly, not like actual strawberry? That was similar to my feeling with scents before. Now I am starting to appreciate these fragrances smelling like actual things, not candied imitations. This one really does smell like roses.

Pink Amber: I’ve become a massive fan of pink scents recently. This one was no exception. I think I still prefer Passion in Pink, for the extra spicy depth to it, but this one was still beautiful. A bit fruity and florally at first, and very sweet, but the fruit notes seemed to weaken after dry down (maybe they were the copulins?). Very girly and to me it was foody, in fact the hungrier I got, the better it smelled. I literally felt like I wanted to eat this smell!

Sandalwood and Resins: I’m sorry to say I really didn’t like this one. It actually smelt quite masculine to me. I wouldn’t mind it on a man, but not on me, it was a bit too chemical and woody smelling. I will say for it that it was quite fresh and clean, but unfortunately, for me I think that meant I could smell the pheromones bleeding through in a less than pleasant way. This was the only one where I really thought I could smell them well after dry down.

Spicy Brown Sugar: Oh how I loved this smell. I can smell the cops just peeking through, and it adds to the overall scent in a really nice way. It dries down to a dark, sultry, honey smell. My biggest problem with it was the smell didn’t seem to last. I kept putting more on as my skin seemed to eat it. I also wondered how well the smell would disperse for this reason. With the Pink Amber smell I kept catching whiffs of it throughout the day, but not with this one. A shame as I really loved it and thought it was such a sexy smell.

Vanilla and Honey: I had a similar problem to the Spicy Brown Sugar with this. It smelled delicious when it went on – just that lovely, sweet vanilla – but shortly after I couldn’t smell it at all. I guess these honey/vanilla scents just don’t last on my skin sad.gif Probably a lovely smell for someone with the chemistry to wear it, but didn’t work out for me.

So after trying all these out I came up with the bright idea of combining Spicy Brown Sugar with Pink Amber to see if I could add a spiciness to the Pink Amber, as well as capture the sexy honey of Spicy Brown Sugar and help it linger a little better using the diffusion properties of pink fragrances on my skin. I cleaned out the trial vial of Raven Moon as thoroughly as I could and mixed 1/3 Pink Amber with 2/3 Spicy Brown Sugar. Yess!! This smell is JUST what I was after! Pink and sweet but with sexy, dark honey undertones. Seems to last a little better too. On careful sniffing I conclude that maybe it could have used more pink, but oh well, I can always top it up with some later biggrin.gif

  7. Love Potion Fragrance updates:

Ok, I have learnt something else about fragrances... My impression of them seems to change from wear to wear! I have been wearing drops from the trial vials and getting all new things out of them compared to when I used and reported on them the first time. So I would like to add the following updates:

    Dr Suki's Break-up Balm: Previously I wrote...

to me it has kind of a clean, sugary smell - kind of like cough syrup, but in a good way, if that makes sense! Maybe like a nice cordial. I get orange and maybe something herbal from it as well.

Now... I don't know how I missed all this foodiness going on the first time. Vanilla, cookies, cream, butter...? This is my first experience experimenting with "foodie" scent, and perhaps because of that I just didn't understand the notes at all to begin with. Today I thought I could smell something like sweet biscuits and realised it was the dab of oil I had put on, and it all clicked. I had thought "foodie" smells were things like fruit or honey. Lol... Yeah I can be a bit slow sometimes blush.gif

Embody the Tarot: The World: Previously I wrote...

I am coming to the conclusion that fruity scents are my favourite, and this one is definitely my favourite of the six. To me it is quite a fruity, delicious smell – I can tell there is something that smells “edible” in there. From the description on the Love Potion website I think it is the banana and vanilla I am smelling, but there is a really fruity element in it as well to me. Maybe the maple?

Now... I am getting something smoky, almost tobacco-like out of this as well.

Dreams of Avalon: Previously I wrote...

... a fresh, bright, clean smell to me – sort of like detergent or laundry powder, without the chemical smell. That sounds a little bad but it actually works ok. Somehow it makes me think of clouds...

Now.. I am also getting something grassy in with the soap... like grass-stained jeans soaking in detergent p.gif

    Vieux Carre: Previously I wrote...

This unusual one I quite liked in the bottle and when I put it on, but after a few minutes I didn’t like it nearly as much. It seemed quite fresh and fruity at first, and I could smell something lovely like pineapple, but then it seemed to settle down to a soapy, detergent smell on my skin. It was still ok, but not one I would rush out to buy.

That “soapy, detergent smell” I think is how musk goes on me. I’ve learnt I am not a fan of musk. I am also noticing the pineapple a bit more even after dry down now... just subtle whiffs.

I'll keep updating with what I discover... having lots of fun with this... smile.gif

  8. Another Love Potion fragrance review!!:

Woohoo, so another Love Potion package has arrived! Complete as before with my gift of six new fragrances in cute little vials. I have spent the day trying on each for a few hours, and here are my thoughts.

*** My standard disclaimer: These are just my thoughts and are not intended to cause offence or be slanderous to Love Potion. They are solely my opinions, and the experience of other people with these scents may be totally different ***

Sensual Harmony: Very subtle and smooth, a bit woody and musky but blends well with skin because to me it smells just like skin. I guess it nicely enhances the fragrance of your own skin, or at least it does for me, without smelling like you are actually wearing perfume. Probably not going to reach anyone who is not actually sniffing you, but would be lovely if someone is up close and got a whiff of you. They would plausibly think that this is your natural smell and you really do just smell that nice without needing any fragrance on – it would be believable with this one I think!

Embody the Tarot: The World: I am coming to the conclusion that fruity scents are my favourite, and this one is definitely my favourite of the six. To me it is quite a fruity, delicious smell – I can tell there is something that smells “edible” in there. From the description on the Love Potion website I think it is the banana and vanilla I am smelling, but there is a really fruity element in it as well to me. Maybe the maple?

Dreams of Avalon: I can’t find this one on the Love Potion website? In any case it is a fresh, bright, clean smell to me – sort of like detergent or laundry powder, without the chemical smell. That sounds a little bad but it actually works ok. Somehow it makes me think of clouds...

Loving You Lavender: TBH I’m not a fan of lavender at the best of times, so I didn’t really like this, but that is not to say that others who appreciate lavender more wouldn't. I will say in its favour that it didn’t smell as flowery and in-your-face as some lavender scents seem to, it was a little bit more citrusy or lemony which made it a bit fresher. It smelled a bit “plant-y” to me, like the smell of not just the flower but the whole plant had been captured.

Vieux Carre: This unusual one I quite liked in the bottle and when I put it on, but after a few minutes I didn’t like it nearly as much. It seemed quite fresh and fruity at first, and I could smell something lovely like pineapple, but then it seemed to settle down to a soapy, detergent smell on my skin. It was still ok, but not one I would rush out to buy.

Raven Moon: I have to admit I didn’t like this one. It was too flowery and incensey, and made me want to sneeze. Not for me. It looks like it was a limited edition in any case and is now sold out.

I’m happy to be discovering what I like in a scent and what I don’t, it’s been a great learning experience for me. I’ve been thinking about Jungle Colada a lot lately – the fruitiness seems to work so well on me and covered my Essence of a Woman really nicely. I would love to do a mix with Jungle Colada and something cops-heavy like Blatant Invitation (which I am having some trouble covering, but more on that later when I review it), and maybe just a touch of something really sweet in there to give it a kick. Maybe I should get Mara to brew me up something?

  9. Transferring my reviews over from PT forums. Hope this is the right place for them! Please leave comments!

Review on Love Potion sample fragrances:

I should mention first that I am a complete fragrance newbie - I hardly ever even wore perfume until about a month ago when I got interested in pheromones. I figure developing appreciation of fragrances is probably going to be a lot like developing appreciation of fine wine (something I have much more experience at wink.gif ) I imagine anyone new to fragrances is probably not able to appreciate the complexity and subtle notes of some of the finer perfumes, and will likely go for the cheap, sweet stuff. After years of drinking wine I now prefer a good, complex red, but when I first started all I could stand were sweet whites, everything else was just yuck. Now I think of those same drinks as lolly water since my taste has matured.

My point of mentioning all this is to cover myself if I don't give the fragrances the reviews they are probably due p.gif

First thing I can say about them is they SMELL expensive. They smell like good quality, high concentration fragrances. Nothing cheap about them. I put a few drops on different parts of my skin this morning and I can still smell them in those places, so clearly they have great lasting potential. I can smell that they are complex - even if I can't pick out the individual notes, I can tell that they are there.

Jungle Colada: This is just a little bit on the sweet side and actually smells like real fruit. Not like what you expect when something claims to smell like "fruit", but like you are ACTUALLY smelling a bowl of ripe fruit. This, ironically, makes it a little less pleasant to me than the imitation fruit smells, probably because I am more used to them! But still nice nonetheless. It is probably my favourite of the scents.

Emperor: Apparently this is more on the manly side, but when I smelled this, without reading the description on the web, it reminded me of my mum's perfume?! Not sure what that says about my parents! Anyway I got a kind of musky, almost menthol smell from it, something complex in there as well - it had depth, but I couldn't say in what way. It was ok, it grew on me more once I had put it on than when I smelled it in the bottle.

Breakfast in Bed: This is supposed to smell like food - french toast, maple syrup, and bacon. But for some reason all I get is a kind of rich coffee smell, with some nice spices in there? A nice fragrance if you like coffee, but not really for me as I have an aversion to coffee due to my caffeine sensitivity.

Cherub's Kiss: This was quite subtle and pleasant to me, a nice sweet, flowery smell. The description on the web for this one was accurate for me.

Summoner's Spell: I got a citrusy, incensey smell from this one that was quite pleasant. It was a really interesting smell that I can see changing throughout the wear or on different people. It is supposed to contain over 50 ingredients so I guess everyone will get someone different out of it.

Dr Suki's Break-Up Balm: I can't find this on the web at all, so I am not sure what it is exactly? But to me it has kind of a clean, sugary smell - kind of like cough syrup, but in a good way, if that makes sense! Maybe like a nice cordial. I get orange and maybe something herbal from it as well.

Thanks again Mara for letting me try these fragrances out, and sorry I probably haven't given them the reviews they deserve smile.gif Hopefully this will at least be helpful to other fragrance newbies like me!

  10. Ahh ok, fair enough... I will place my reviews in there then... didn't want them to get too disjointed but I will try to organise them so they make sense... thanks :)

  11. Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Absolutely! Reviews are crucial and much desired!

Great! :) I tried to start up a journal but I can't see a "post new thread" button lol... I'm a noob at this :P

  12. Hello all!

I've been lurking on the forums for a while now and thought I should finally introduce myself. I have a profile over at PheroTruth where I have gone into a lot more detail about myself and my pheromone usage, but most of the products I use anyway are from Love Potion and there seem to be a lot of great ladies here giving out good advice. I love the PheroTruth forums, but sometimes you just need to talk some things over with other ladies, and it is a bit of a boys club over there at times!!

So far from Love Potion I have the following products:

    Tabby

    Passion in Pink

    Bewitch Attract Mesmerize

    Blatant Invitation

I am one of these annoying people that wants to try out everything and have loved the $5 trial option! I've ordered in a bunch of trial samples and a few full bottles in my latest order, and I am eagerly awaiting shipment of:

    Heart's Ease

    True Confessions

    Popularity Potion

    Extracurricular Proclivities

    Jungle Colada

    Shelly B's Bodacious Bomb

    Spring Equinox 2011

    Oleander the Great

    Like A Magnet

    Rocket Fuel III

    Sexpionage

    Kitten Nip

    Portmanteau

Each of the phero wax melts

Well that's enough for now, just wanted to say hi :)
