I am considering ordering a bottle but I need to read more reviews before I decide. Black Musk can be a motherfucker on me. At times smelling like motor oil and others behaving itself nicely.

I'm still figuring out single notes, but I think black musk is a no-go for me too. However, I don't think I've seen a single person talk about this one smelling alot like musk, so I went ahead and took the plunge. Everything else sounds SO good, and so far I don't have anything "dark" like Kat Suit. I'm hoping this one will be a winner for me!

I'm completely enthralled by Halo's Cocoa Lily right now, idk what it is about that one but I LOVE it, so happy to have my full bottle! Plus extra crayons and goodies? Thank you!!!

Oh. My. Gosh. I can't add anything else to my order right now, but I WANT this! Hopefully it will stick around long enough for me to snag a bottle!

ETA: Does this mean that this one is working it's way around to becoming permanent?

Amalthea, Purple Pitch is one of my faves. Admittedly not one I break out that often, but I think it is darkly lovely. If I recall, without going to look it up in the archives, it is Violet in that one. To my nose, PP smells a lot like OCCO Black only with a hint of purple.

I haven't tried OCCO Black yet, but it is on my list. I think you're right, I think PP had violet and not orchid. But I love Act of Violets, so I think it's the black musk that I'm not liking. Oh well, I guess life would be boring if we all liked the same things, right?

Does PP smell at all like Carbon Black to you? Of course CB wouldn't have the "purple" note, but something in there is very similar to me!

Molls, I thought Blush was going to be a must-have full bottle for me as well, and I really do like it, it just seems to fade so quickly on my skin!

Okay, so I'm trying to redeem forum posting credits for the first time, I've been trying to figure it out for a while, and suddenly the little light bulb just came on in my head. Don't actually add what you want to the cart, but instead put it in the "Redeem for which product?" line - got it. I do still have one question though. I should have $20 credit, but if I try to redeem it towards a bottle, I would be $5 short. Is there some way to compensate for that extra $5? Could I maybe buy a $5 gift certificate, and just say it's for Mara? Or would it be easier on your end if I just email you with my order and let you send me an invoice? Whatever is easiest on your end is what I'll do!

Well I've been experimenting with making sprays so my perfumer's alcohol (50ml bottle) is going more quickly than I would have thought. I did google Everclear, and it seems to be legal in my state. I might have to stop by a package store tomorrow to see if it's less expensive than the alcohol.

So I just tried a sniffy of Purple Pitch, and something in there reminds me of Carbon Black. I felt sure it must be orchid, since, well, PURPLE pitch, but I looked it up and apparently there's not any orchid in PP. The only thing they have in common is black musk (although PP lists it as "Indian Black Musk") so I'm thinking maybe that's the too-perfumey note that I don't like. Being not terribly fond of perfumes before finding lp, I find that I don't know exactly what alot of the individual notes are supposed to smell like by themselves, so it's hard for me to guess sometimes if I might like or dislike something. I'm thinking perhaps black musk is going to be one I should avoid in the future.

Cerulean Blue was not even on my radar of scents to try, but this morning I just pulled out a random "crayon" to test and this just happened to be it. I like it! I think I was expecting it to be all watery/watery florals, which isn't my kind of thing, but the berries really came out alot which I loved. My only complaint is that it faded very quickly, which honestly seems to be happening with all the NR's I've tested for the month. I wonder why that is? I need to start putting a concerted effort into better moisturizing my skin and see if it's still an issue. But today, for instance, I'm wearing Flying Potion, and it's still going strong. Idk, I'll moisturize better and then see what happens.

I wore this one all day and found that sadly, it faded pretty quickly. It could be that I just need to be moisturizing more, but my Sweet Pea Cupcake made it through a whole day just fine recently. I'm also still not getting alot of citrus, if any at all, which is kind of a mystery to me. Will definitely have to re-test, just hope I don't miss out since it seems to be going pretty quickly.

 

Why with the pancakes and maple syrup? I was thrilled that I didn't amp the cinnamon But I TOTALLY got soft sticky rolls - loved the oats and pecans! This sample won't last more than 3-4 wears at the rate I slathered today...

 

Somebody once told me I smelled like "pancake syrup" when I was wearing Kanary Kremes. This was so weird to me, because I mostly get a sweet lemon smell from that one. I guess people just smell things differently! That knowledge didn't stop me from being a little offended at the time, though.

I've just tested vermillion and I love it! I want to describe it as cinnamon-y and warm. It kind of makes me regret the fact that I just bought a bottle of Frosted off the trade boards, because it's a very cinnamon scent to me as well, and I'm not sure that I need two. I want to wear this one all day for a full test, but it's going on my wish-list just from tonight's testing. I'm wondering how well this would layer with Rocket Fuel? They seem a tiny bit similar to me. And this makes me very curious to try Scotchies!

Just testing this one, and I can't decide yet what I think about it. Like NuTrix, I find it almost too sweet. Almost. Definitely super-pineapple, like a pineapple candy almost, or maybe those dried pineapple pieces you can buy. Actually, that's exactly what it reminds me of, dried pineapple. I do like the lemony undertone (I like pretty much all lemon anyway). I'm curious to actually wear this one all day and see how it does in the long run. It's not on my immediate must-have list, but I think it could be a fun fragrance for summer. Levitation has so far done nothing for me when I've tried it. I don't get alot of positive selfies with most pheros, and I think, if I'm remembering correctly, that this blend has alot of a-nol which tends to disagree with me anyway. So I'm definitely not looking at it for the phero effects. This one definitely needs more experimentation!

Yep, I remember my very first order from LP, when it came in the mail I was SO disappointed because I disliked the smell of everything (even though at the time I was basically here for the pheros). A few days later they all smelled wonderful!

I love Empathy Potion. It once saved a friendship for me for sure. That instance alone makes me so incredibly grateful for Mara, LP, and pheros. I'm glad you found a good use for it as well!

Okay, dang it (lol!), put me in for a bottle of Black Cat Mojo too. I just can't NOT buy it after hearing so many great things about it!

One issue you may be running into with the scents you don't like is travel shock. It's usually best to let your perfumes "rest" for a day or two after they come in the mail. I thought it sounded crazy at first, but it's definitely true! Re-test in a few days, you might find that you like the ones you previously didn't.

Any heavy Est blends (or just straight Est!) seem to be the most congruent to my personality. My personal faves are CB, Sexology, and LFM, although I try to go light with the Cuddle Bunny and Sexology because of the heavy cops load. I really love straight Est with some light Topper.

The only phero blend I've found that I get good, consistent selfies with is SS4W. Every time I've worn my sample of Rocket Fuel it has put me in a happy, upbeat mood. I definitely need to experiment more with this one!

So glad I finally reserved my bottle! I'm SO curious about this one!
