I received the PE today and I was really excited for this one! Sadly, the leather is all I smell so far though. I don't dislike it, but the leather is way too strong. I wanted to smell the white flower and some vanilla. I really hope it mellows out. Otherwise, I plan on layering it with Sugared White Musk or LP White.

Same here - I would like a Lusty Cherry too!

Well, what the heck, I might as well review it while this thread is bumped.
I. LOVE. THIS. SCENT.
OMG, I love it so much. I want to marry it and have its babies. I bought it on a whim as a last-minute add on from the trade board. And now it's one of my absolute favourites! I am very picky about scents, so that is saying a lot. It might even be my very favourite; I haven't decided yet.
Sometimes I wear it to bed. I keep it near me always so I can just smell it whenever I want to. It's that good.
What I get is a beautiful, rich, lush white floral. Maybe a touch of the jungle. I just sniffed it again--DEFINITELY a touch of the jungle. It's sweet, but not too sweet, and almost has a bit of an exotic, fruity tang to it. I have no idea what's in it--I didn't even know it had leather until I read this thread. That is good because I was hesitant about leather in scents, but now I know not to be afraid of it. I also read that it has lily, which makes total sense to me.
It brings to mind a large, white flower (lily, I suppose) blooming at the base of a tree in the rainforest. It's shady and somewhat cool in the rainforest, and you're exploring the river in a small rowboat. You spot this flower and catch a whiff of its heady aroma on the banks of the river, so you move closer. It's too intoxicating to resist. As you move closer, you catch a glimpse of white fur as a snow leopard moves off, spooked by your presence. Somehow you know that there is something special--magical--about this flower.
ETA: Suddenly I'm stricken with panic that I'll run out and won't be able to find any more.
This is a bit ridiculous because I still have an almost-full bottle. I just really love it.
I'm so glad this worked out for you!

Mara, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
First off, these PEs are AMAZING. I'm so so very happy with how they turned out. They are PERFECT!
The NRs are beautiful and my FB list is most definitely growing.
XOXOXOXO
I cannot wait to start reading your reviews!

I have to learn what to ask the about notes and how they blend togetherThe other thing I have learned - and Luna just hit on this in another thread - I have really learned to trust Mara's opinion on scents. I have looked at notes and though "probably not" but Mara has said "trust me" on the phone or here on the forum and is usually right.
-
I've had both of those experiences and I've learned that I can't always judge things just by the notes and that my response to certain LPs can change over time. I read that all over these boards when I first joined but was very incredulous that you could just suddenly like something you hadn't. I thought people must have been willing themselves to like perfumes they didn't really enjoy that much. I was totally wrong; it really can happen!
Ditto! I am no longer disgusted/frightened when I see it listed in the notes because it is actually possible for it to smell good. Revelation!
My fiance used to hate LP Rouge. He still laughs at how he used to call it "smokey poo". And, if I put it on and he takes a whiff while still wet, he'll tell me he doesn't like it... but half an hour later, he comes and asks what I'm wearing, because "it smells nice"! I can guarantee he did not "will" himself to liking it!

Hmmm... I tried this one yesterday for the first time. I was hoping to get some info from my soon to be ex-manager about how my yearly review is likely to unfold.
I got the UN trial and began with 3 drops on the back of my hands. I wanted to be cautious. Nothing happened - not to me, not to anyone around me. Before my meeting with the manager, I applied 3 more drops on the back of my hands. We were 5 feet from each other in a tiny conference room for about 15 minutes. Nothing... Nothing happened the rest of the day either.
I guess I have to keep experimenting. -
Ah okay; I was referring to a different experience - for years I was very firm on not liking certain types of scents because I'd had bad experiences with particular notes, and then once I became a regular LPMP customer and tried everything in a sampler I found that I was unnecessarily limiting myself because Mara is just that good.
That too!
-
Very true. She completely changed my perspective when it comes to certain tropes.
And that's what I meant when I said there is a progression to liking LP scents. My first couple of months of wearing LP Rouge made me think I could never wear any honey. And then, one day, something magical happened!
-
Am I the only one here who doesn't particularly want to smell like a cupcake?
I'd rather smell like a rainforest or a spring day in the mountains.
It might be an acquired taste... I mean, smell. I have not been initiated in the fairy cupcake sisterhood either. Nor the dirty honey or dark sexy scents one.
In my still newbie opinion, there is a certain progression to liking LP scents.

Lainey, don't quote me on this, but I think Storax is a tree resin.
it is!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Styrax_balsam
"Styrax (storax) balsam is a recent natural resin isolated from the wounded bark of Liquidambar orientalis Mill. (Asia Minor) and Liquidambar styraciflua L. (Central America) (Hamamelidaceae).[1] It is often called benzoic resin, a similar resin obtained from the Styracaceae plant family."

Aw, thanks. I'm sure I can hold out, I just hope I won't have to be sensible and downsize my birthday order! Hope you get your husband's label sorted!
Awww! I hope you don't have to either! I think I just downsized mine though. Turning 30 next month as well, but with the wedding just 4 months away I think my 30th birthday will have to go pretty much unnoticed. I look forward to next month's releases so I can give myself a birthday present nevertheless

Not a scent cover advice post, but I used Treasured Hearts over Thanksgiving break when we visited with my SO's family and it worked beautifully. I'm an introvert, so my SO always complains that I don't make an effort to connect with his family, despite that not being the case. I was more relaxed an open, and everyone noticed. It was perfect for a family environment, I was able to connect with his mom and sister especially. I used the unscented version and covered it with Betrothal, A Taste for Luxury and LP White. But even without any cover, it did not smell like anything.
ETA: not all cover scents at once

Any luck with wearing this and not having the honey go dirty on you ? I tend to have the same problem.Brilliant! I'm going to have to give in and snag a bottle.

I went to a bridal expo today, kinda dragged by a girl friend who is planning a banquet for she and her husband in September... even though I'm the one getting married in less than 5 months so, I thought LP White was very fitting, especially since I'm fairly hands off (my fiance is the wedding planner, Bridezilla is definitely not my style, despite me thinking I would be one.. too much stress, not worth it. He can take care of it. i'll just show up and look pretty).
This smells gorgeous on my skin. Even 8 hours after application I can still smell it. It's like sweet skin, I get mostly powdered white sugar over a faint white flower and white musk. The vanilla and fruit is definitely in there, but it is very well blended. Together I almost get a slightly creamy sweet skin scent, but not foody at all. When I first apply it I get more of the apricot.
I am so glad I got a full bottle of this one. To me, it is in the same category with A Taste of Luxury and Secret Sweetness, which I also love.

After reading the notes, I am sticking to the two PEs... Lina's Woodland Romance, which may not even work on me anyway (I am really scared it may be too close to Mean Business) and Carol's Leather and Lace (which I am very excited about). I purchased a sample of To Soothe a Broken Heart.
I have asked for two samples as my forum freebies: the Immortality elixir and Tingle Tangle and I really hope to get those.I will have to read reviews for the rest... I was tempted by Bawdy Babe, Petal Pusher, Two Lips and A Kiss, Love is Love and even Devilish Thoughts, but I do not know enough about those notes to pull the trigger yet, or some notes may scare me.
-
Same with my Mister. I told him about the new releases and then I said "don't worry, I'm waiting for the notes before I order. I know you have a very sensitive nose" His reply was, in a cute way "yeah, I'm sensitive!"I REALLY want to get one of Tyvey's Chewy Spice, but I already have so many perfumes that Mr Perfect doesn't like... and he doesn't like patchouli.. lol
I think I will just stick with what I have
I hear you, no patchouli for me - for the same reason!
-
She used to have a subscription service, but it was too time-consuming in terms of all of her other work, so the option was discontinued a couple years back.
Ah. And here I was thinking I had a new idea! Of course LPMP already thought of that
-
I've only been on LPMP forum for less than 6 months, but noticing the trend with new releases, I wonder if Mara has ever thought about creating a monthly sampler membership option? That way members won't have to go through the agony of waiting for the notes each month. Just sign up for the sampler - or opt in for certain months ahead of time, and wait for them to arrive. Just a thought
I guess there will still be the agony of waiting for the package... -
That is something rare in a woman. Then again, I too feel the same way about my fiance's video games. In the end we agree that each one of us has hobbies, so when he buys new releases and then trades them in, I equate them to my LP scents. Plus we both benefit from each other's happiness over the small things like LP samples, forum ranks or getting to the next level in Diablo III.Mrs. QG is very frugal and very practical. She feels that buying cologne/perfume is not a wise use of our finances, not to mention spending time on online forums being a wise use of time.
ETA: my comment about the frugality and practicality was not meant in a bad way.
-
Any more Woodland Romance? If so, can I reserve one please?
And Carol's Black Leather, White Lace - I'd prefer the one boosted with Lace, but I'll take any. Thanks!
-
I was really looking forward to this one for my man... sadly, it smells like soap mixed with BO on him. Such a disappointment. I guess he'll have to stick to LP #9 as a cover scent for now.
This one is going on my trade thread.

You are right!! I wore this the rest of the day. The first half an hour I could smell leather mostly, as if I walked into a leather store. After that, it turned into white, soft almost creamy flowers, with a touch of sugar and vanilla, and the leather lingering in the background. Very sophisticated indeed. I kept huffing my wrists all day.
I will keep testing it - if it passes the fiance test, it stays - and I sure hope he loves this one, because after the 30 minute morphing session, I do!
I would pair this with LFM, SS4W, LFN and Lace. I have not tried Leather yet, but I am sure it would go well. As a matter of fact, I don't know which phero would not go well with this. The leather and the soft flowers can make it go in either direction. Even Dom!
This was a brilliant combination Carol and Mara!!!
