  1. Another issues which is emerging for me is vanilla. I think I've nailed down that vanilla is the culprit for fragrances going plastic or as I call it "play doh" on me. But that doesn't happen with both LP pink and RED.

You know, I've been wondering about vanilla a bit lately. Vanilla was the only common ingredient between Tabby and Kitten Nip, which both ended up having the same nasty scent on me (though only a hint of it in Kitten Nip). And now I'm getting the same thing in LP Pink. On the other hand, I can wear other fragrances with vanilla with no problem - Darling Catalina, OCCO White, Mara's Rocket Fuel III, etc. Perhaps it's a "foody" vs "non-foody" vanilla thing? I really don't know.

  2. I don't know what happened here. I expected to adore this one, in fact I almost ordered a full bottle unsniffed. I'm glad I got the trial vial instead, because this is doing something weird on my skin. It starts out ok, but after a few minutes it takes a weird turn. It goes to a kind of harsh, fake, detergent, bubble-gum smell. That's the best way I can describe it. Maybe the amber and patchouli in this are doing weird things on me, they have been known to be less favourable notes on me before. But I am seriously addicted to Pink Sugar and other pinky scents, and can't understand why this turned out so different on me.

I could probably get away with wearing only a little of this and then layering Pink Sugar over the top, but there wouldn't be a lot of point to that I guess. Perhaps a dilution in alcohol might change the fragrance for the better. Or maybe it's only my weird nose that thinks this is not great on me, I will have to ask a few other people what they think. I'm not ready to give up on it yet.

  3. hmm?could be the vanilla?they both have that in it.Although,.I never tried tabby so Im not sure what cat tails and pussy willows smell like.Very neat how those notes can be used in a fragrance though!

I also compared the ingredients and yes, they both have vanilla, but vanilla doesn't normally have that "feel" about it to me, so I'm not sure. It could just be a skin chemistry thing. Maybe it is even one of the pheromones that reacts that way on me for some reason.

  4. Oooh, this is lovely!! It is all candied cherry on me when I first put it on, reminds me of nectar de l'amour (which I LOVE). It dries down to a juicier, drippy mango scent. I can't smell cops, just yummy mangos and fruits. Already today I keep finding myself reaching for the bottle (and not the wine bottle for once ;) ), I just want to keep smelling this. It makes me feel sexy and beautiful and happy!

  5. "scented oil" huh, that sounds a little better... I even thought of making up something that sounds believable, like "cologne oil" - think he would buy that? :P

  6. To my nose this smelled all right at first, a bit sweet and sugary and nice in a food-y way. But after a few minutes I got some other note that made it smell a bit yuck to me. It went kind of fake and chemical-y in the way that Tabby does to me, but a lot weaker. I can't pick out what is causing this. I asked a male friend to smell it on me, telling him it was "cookies and cream", and he leaned in close for a big whiff, and after a second pulled away in repulsion. He said it was "disgusting!" :(

I went away, washed it all off, and later applied Darling Catalina to the other wrist. Took it back to him and said it was the same scent I had had him smell before, but that I had "improved" it. He sniffed and gave his approval, said it was vastly better, and smelt really nommable now.

  7. I know you ladies are all comparing this with Darling Clementine, but I am doing a side-by-side comparison between Darling Catalina and Kitten Nip, as I expected they would smell somewhat similar. I found Kitten Nip has a note in it I don't like - I can't put my finger on what it is, but it's kind of in the aftersmell, something a bit chemical-y, similar to whatever the scent I didn't like in Tabby was. Darling Catalina smells a lot like Kitten Nip to me, but without this note. It is just all sweet, pink, cupcakey, sugary goodness. It reminds me of cookies and cream ice cream. Really digging this smell. I'll report on phero effects once I've had a chance to test it out on others!

  8. I've just added a fairly large amount of Blatant Invitation (10 drops) into a trial vial of Dirty Pretty Thing, so it is like 1/4 BI and 3/4 fragrance, and I can't detect it at all when it dries down. Whenever I wore it neat I could smell it a bit still depending on what cover scent I was wearing. I too would recommend adding it to some perfume, even if you only used a little perfume and not enough to cover it fully - you can always use cover scents on top of that, but blending with some perfume just seems to take off the "edge".

  9. :rainman:

    Haha, what a cool emoticon!

I'll have to try it out with some of these apple and fruity scents. Maybe I should take it off my trade list, I may not be done with this one yet...

  10. This is chocolatey, fruity and incensey. Dark, rich and deep. It is very interesting but I feel it goes a bit too perfumey on me. Also not sure what to make of the chocolate in amongst the other scents - I love both chocolate and fruit, but not together. I think I might be amping the patchouli a bit too much as well.

  11. This is incredibly sweet, almost too sweet for me, which is really saying something as I am a huge fan of sweet smell! Sadly the nut smell ruins it for me, but that's just a personal thing. I can see how others, especially pink or sweet lovers, would adore this.

  12. Not digging the sandalwood, amber, or muskiness of this. I get a little bit of a citrusy smell (probably the orange blossom?) but it's not enough to drown out the amber. Looking at the ingredient list I suppose I'm not all that surprised, with those ingredients this was never going to be a "me" smell - it smells too perfumey, like cheap soap on me.

  13. This one is not for me. It smells too much like allergy causing flowers. It's very green on application, and it's a pleasant enough smell but not one I want to wear. The dry down is green with flowers. I just love love love the label though :)
