  1. Where to start? First, the Aja is really obvious to me, and yet it is quite different from straight up Aja. To me, the Aja is neither completely innocent nor snatchy, but something else. Aja smells like it includes an animalic compound that, in any higher concentration, would be smelly, but isn't. It almost, but not quite, smells like a ferret's musk. (I like ferret scent so this isn't a negative to me).

So Poudre de Bourdons is powdery and sweet, and dries down into a very sexy skin scent, but there is that animalic note from Aja that makes it not completely innocent.

Also, it seems light, but at the same time not light--quite strong and heavy--and I think that is also coming from the Aja.

So, I like it a lot, but what is keeping me on the fence about ordering a fb is it is familiar and dredging some kind of amorphous childhood memories out of my head. I actually hope this effect goes away, because I find it agitating me, which is a shame because I really like this fragrances.

  2. I tried this last night and it is nice, but I'm not detecting the complexity that others have. I mostly get the white musk, and green, watery notes underneath that. I don't detect the LP base ingredients. I find that this often happens for me with white musk: it doesn't amp on me, but it does scatter and blur everthing else and thus takes over the scent.

This morning, there just a trace of it left, and now I think I'm getting the tea, after everthing else is gone.

  3. The original sample of this I received when it came out is just heavenly. The caramel is the most prominent note, both wet and after dry down, sweet but not too sweet, and backed up by a nice clean musk.

I just bought a full bottle on the trading post, and it is different so I believe it must be from a subsequent brewing. There is less caramel and more musk, and it has a sharp note that smells to me like rubbing alcohol. It is more perfume-y (in the sense of conventional perfumes) It tames down a little after it's dry, but not completely. I still like it, but on my skin it does not work quite as well as the original brewing.

  4. I cannot strongly enough recommend that everyone drop what they're doing and put this in their hair. Something about it just suits being in the hair so extremely. I am fainting with delight.

That's so funny. I put this on after a bath today and was moved to rub some in my hair while it was still damp. I hadn't read the reviews yet.

This one is just scrumptious. Maple amps on me, so this one is prominently maple syrup. The lemon is very understated. The amber is thick and syrupy too, but at the same time just a bit powdery.

This is what I wanted BAM Spicy Brown Sugar to smell like, but it always turned wonky on me.

  5. This is just yummy! It was all vanilla buttercream on me at first, but after dry down the strawberry notes emerged. As others have said, it's real strawberry, not fake strawberry. Eventually, the vanilla and cream sort of disappeared, and the strawberry turned almost jammy. At this point it begant to remind me a little of Hotness! Personified.

  6. Hmm...the champagne notes reminded me of Bacchanalia. Once it dried down that went away, but it is still not my favorite peach scent. Nice, just not compelling me to buy a bottle.

  7. I wore this today for the first time, and I really like it!

I generally avoid rose perfumes, not because I don't like the fragrance of roses, but because as a perfume they often seem to come off old lady-ish on me. However, this is really fresh and sexy and superbly blended.

Also, I think with this winter of polar vortices, I am craving spring with every fiber of by being, and this smells very clean and springy.

  8. OMG! Finally got my sample of this, and it is awesome! I can't fully describe the scent as it is quite unique, but it is sweet and it is dead sexy.

I put some of this on one wrist, and some Cherry Divinity on the other, and let my husband smell them both. He liked the Cherry Divinity better, but I think in a more sexy-time situation he'd like the Aja.

  9. Hi soulful,do a search for the fragrance you want to review, and you should find there is already a thread for just about everything. They are in review subforums, but searching on the fragrance name is easiest.

Your post count automatically goes up for each post you make (excluding the off topic forums). So reviews, general perfume chat, and journal threads all count.

There is also a thread about earning posting credits for posting reviews on amazon-- instructions are in that thread.

  10. I asked someone how I smelled and they said they didn't like this one. It was loud on me. It didn't smell bad to them, but it didn't smell good. Maybe my skin is really amping the orange blossom (the crazy fruit-skin response) and that is why they think it is so meh. Or it could be the cops? Dunno.

How long had you been wearing it when you asked how it smelled? Since it has cops it does need a dry down of 15 mins or so.

  11. When wet, this is really jasmine, overwhelmingly floral. But it very quickly settled down to a really soft , fresh, clean scent. It reminds me a little of giorgio (though it has been years since I smelled that). Oh, and now the ozone is coming out.

    I like it!

  12. I think since you are young you are already producing a good amount of cops on your own.

Only 30% of young women are copulin "producers", and of these, the attractive copulin scent is only produced during ovulation. So, I think every woman, regardless of age, can benefit from wearing copulins, and the only difference young fertile women need is to back off a little while ovulating (and thus, only if they are not on the pill).

So definitely get a copulin product!

  13. This is all cocoa butter while wet to my nose. Before re-reading the description my first thought was chocolate. As it begins to dry I get honey, but at first its sort of a synthetic, soapy honey note (honeyed LP did this too, but more so). As it dries down it becomes a very nice, barely there honey scent. I'm not getting any lemongrass or grapefruit at all.

Perhaps I'm getting more tolerant of patchouli, but it seems very well blended in this scent. I don't smell any in-your-face patchouli until hours later. I put some on before bed last night, and this morning got some smokey patchouli whiffs. When I sniffed my wrists, it wasn't there, they just came every so often out of no where.

  14. Mara, although I am more than happy to take up the last drops of my Jasmine Rain, please let Xev have one of mine if she wants one. I let her know that I would do that if she would like a bottle since we both had been looking for almost the exact type of scent.

ETA: I hope it's ok that I want to do that. :(

That is really sweet of you and I would take you up on your r offer, but I won't be able to place an order until sometime next week. I understand if it can't be held.
