  1. I am a doofus--the review I wrote above was for Sugared Frankincense and Myrrh.

Blessed Sacrament--wonderful in it's own right--smells to me like Phero Girl plus incense and bread. I actually like it better than Phero Girl, because it's a bit less sweet and a bit more grounded.

When I realized my error in reviewing, I put some Sugared Frankincense and Myrrh on one wrist, and Blessed Sacrament on the other just to be sure, and the combination of the two smells even better than either separately. Is this a happy accident? Blessed Sacament is the one I got a bottle of, (abd I'm still happy I did), but now I think I'm going to need Sugared Frankincense and Myrrh.

I did wonder a bit... but thanks for this because I have been eyeing Sugared Frankincense and Myrrh...

    :)

  2. This is the first absolutely true church incense scent I ever found. It is spot on. The bread is at the fore when this is wet, and then forms a really nice base for the Frankincense and Myrrh (they deserve capital letters). The honey sweetens it a little, but the showstopper is the incense. Wow. I ordered a bottle of this duing the sale, and again, I'm so happy I did!

I love the smell of incense - I think I will definitely have to try this one. Thanks for the review! :)

  3. This is an amazingly complex perfume. Which is probably not expected with a Kyphi-based scent. I am getting the definite impresssion that the fragrance will vary from wearer to wearer. In my case it has not been the same on any two occasions I have worn it. It is "out of balance" in the most desirable way. Different notes seem to come to the fore at different times. Delicious? Yes? Mystically Sexy? Certainly. Boring? Never.

  4. Mmm. Yes, Forevermore is a great incense rose. Much drier than Wine and Dead Roses though.

Absolutely, Forevermore has a beautiful rose note to it. If you want to wet it down at all I have found that it blends wonderfully with a quick swipe of Spring Equinox 2007 which amps up the floral but maintains the aura of earth. :)

  5. This is a potion of water magic and the attributes of Mermaids. According to lore, Mermaids can grant wishes and bestow humans the gift of living underwater. This is a form of water worship and becoming one with the sea.

Water is a building block of all life on Earth, and humans are made up of over 60% of it. It is a symbol of healing, conception, fertility and pregnancy; love, marriage, friendship and beauty. Water is also a symbol of our emotions - intuition, insight, psychic awareness, divination, dreams, purification and peace. The mermaid reminds everyone to look beneath the surface and that water can flow over your hand, or become a wall that can destroy.

Ingredients include: Bladderwrack (sea kelp), Island Fruits and Florals, Plumeria, Coconut, Mango, Pineapple, Sea Moss, Lotus, Gardenia, Cucumber, and Sea Grasses - all water elementals.

As a Pisces I had very high hopes of this blend, and it is truly beautiful. The waft of ozone-laden breezes is strong here, however, my skin loves it so much it "devours" it - possibly due to the fact I have Sagittarius rising. After all water + fire - steam and evaporation!

  6. Just five?? Only FIVE!

As a newbie I haven't tried a lot of the potions yet, but I really like these:

    1) Artemis

    2) Hecate's Night Potion

    3) Medium

    4) Sabra's Secret

    5) Sugared Amber

    May

Funny how fast this has changed:

    Currently

    1) Sugared Honeycomb

    2) Sugared Bonfire

    3) Sugared Amber

    4) Artemis

    5) Medium

And until recently I thought I was not a fan of anything "sugared"! I suspect everything will change every month. Now if yo guys can come up with something to help me with my teaching. IE, help others to learn! That would be fab!

  7. Doggone your nice review, it sounds like that would have been BEYOUUUUTIFUL...I'm currently loving the chocolate and roses in Cocoa Sauvignon:

    http://www.lovepotionperfume.com/perfume-CocoaSauv.html

I'm really trying to get cocoa sauvignon to work for me. I think it is because I am used to "commercial" (ie mass-produced and additive-laden) perfumes. It look me a few applications to "understand" Sugared Honeycomb, but I just put an order in for a big bottle and am now addicted!

However, I love the sound of wine and dead roses particularly the idea of voluptuous sexy rosiness with some intoxicating wine! (By the way - if you have not tried it the sugared roses mixed with valentine's chocolates is lovely. I love milky chocolate and roses together!)

I soooo want to try the musky, dusky roses too... and it is on sale as a "special"! How much temptation can one girl stand?

But christmas duties and buying responsibilities restrict me...

  8. I know, not fair to review a scent that's sold out. But this is one of my all time favorites, and I am crushed that I'll never have a bottle of it. So maybe, if I interest people, this one can be brought back.

In the bottle: Juicy roses. Perfect, juicy roses. The Merlot blends into the florals, making them lusher, richer, juicier.

On wet: The roses remain, and you can smell a hint of the soil they grow in. Dark soil, as rich and lush as the blossoms.

Drydown: The roses take on more complexity. There are clearly several, in different states of death and drying. One is powdery, like the keepsakes of a first bouqet, carefully preserved and stored away in a memory chest. The others are fresher, giving out a last heady bout of sweetness before decompostition sets in.

I love rose scents, and have many from different vendors. This one is my favorite. It's sexy, and dark; sweet, without being too sweet; earthy and etherial. (Please bring it back.)

Bring it back, bring it back!!

I love rose scents, dark perfumes and wine... oh yes, definitely wine too!

    Encore?

  9. There doesn't *seem* to be a review of this... so here we go - if it is elsewhere, please forgive the duplication! :)

First off, as soon as I applied it I thought "vinegar!" If you have a similiar reaction, fear not, it may be that - like me - you are used to handling apple cider vinegar (which is fantastic applied to bruising for the home remedists/ herbalists out there) but can make you think of vinegar as soon as you smell apples.

Within seconds I get an edge of sweet rain-dampened earth and then a wonderously warm scent of autumn-evening-saturated apples and cider presses.

To me this is the scent of a Kentish cider orchard on an evening in late autumn. It's apples - but not the heat of summer - ratjher the cooling of the year and sunset on an orchard.

Very pretty, as warming to the heart and soul as a hot-toddy in winter and faintly nostalgic.

  10. I put this one on before going to bed. At first I thought I was picking up an edge of something vaguely similar to blackberry or blackcurrant - there was a layer of dark fruitiness in there - but I read the description in the morning and now know this to be black raspberry.

This is a nice darkly elegant, without being overly-resinous or overwhelming perfume. For those who are a bit wary of patchouli, the patchouli here is not the patchouli of new-age shops and the 60s, I think with patchouli it comes down to quality and this is elegant and rounded. Overall, the balance is fantastic and very sexy.

  11. Some of the guys in the pheromonal community have tried this... to see if it is comprable to copulins. It's had pretty mixed reviews as far as I have seen. I think most phero users who use copulin-based stuff are sticking with products like Essence of Woman and so forth.

I mean its obviously marketed at the masturbatory side of things - and the male market - as a woman given the choice of a product called Essence of Woman and something with this name I'd definitely go for the EoW.

  12. To be honest, Yule Snuggle was one of the potions that inspired me to place my first order. I ordered a lot of samples but I was most excited about Snuggle, and rightly so, it is edible. On me, I get the smell of oven-fresh cookies (we call them biscuits but I think biscuits are something different in the US?) glazed with a sweet lemon icing.

Nostalgic stuff for me, because those are the cookies of my childhood. So, I love, love, love the smell of this. Unfortunately my skin finds it so delicious it eats it - I need a triple-strength version. But, I tried it on a pal and it lasted on her for hours and hours (yup, I am envious) so it's obviously just my skin chemistry. :)

  13. I can't find a review of Vain, and from the description, it sounds right up my alley. The description includes "Warm and spicy Dragon's Blood essential oils, with complimentary notes of Egyptian Musk, Indian Chai Spices and Benzoin."

So... anyone tried it? I will probably take a chance and order a bottle, but I'd love to hear your reviews!

I tried this one, for the second time, today. I was going to post a review tomorrow, but it seems synchonicity has struck so I shall post it tonight. This reminds me a LOT of Sabra's Secret, which isn't suprising because both feature Dragon's Blood quite strongly - however, although the are in the same family there are distinct differences.

Sabra's Secret is a very smooth, highly complex, very heavy and rich perfume. Vain is also complex but in a different way, it also has the rich sexy, smoothness of Dragon's but it is a little sassier, sharper and almost "younger" side to it than Sabra's does. Sabra's is more resinous Vain has a spicy edge that is bright rather than resinously dark.

    Hope this helps

  14. Just wanted to add that Sugared Honeycomb also has some SERIOUS staying power. I applied some on Friday morning, just a few swipes of the wand on my wrists and neck - and I could still smell it on myself on Saturday morning! A nice fragrance to get out of bed (or stay in it) with! I can't wait for my full bottle to arrive! ;)

  15. I also have this, but it comes out quite differently on my skin, for me the florals and the sweetness is prevalent. The darker notes recede pretty quickly on me. Its very feminine and not overpowering. For the phero users among us it is also great cover for some of the more pungent pheros out there. It even covers up a mix of -none and copulins. ;)

  16. I'm just going to third all of the above. This is a lovely potion it smells delicious - dreamy popcorn smothered in creamy chocolate. I've tried two chocolate scents from here now Valentine's chocolates and this and they have both stayed true chocolate on me - which is more than some of the chocolate-based fragrances from other places have.

I like this one and it would be great for anyone, but particularly if you work with children - kids really seem to gravitate towards chocolatey perfumes.

  17. Diana is also a very beautiful floral. It's weird, but it reminded me of a funeral home bouqueted for a wake. Many lillies, I believe.

Ooh that does sound yummy. I've requested a sample of Diana, so that's another reason to lay in wait for my unsuspecting postman! :(

  18. I'm not a phero 'expert' just a phero user. But I use 'alpha-male' pheros a lot. For the record I am not using them to attract women - I'm heterosexual - but using them to achieve certain results. I've found there is a heck of a lot more benefits to cross-over than are at first apparent.

Here is one example. I have coated myself in androstenone (-none) before having to have confrontational, showdown meetings with my ex-alpha-male boss. For the record -none is a male pheromone that is often perceived as being intimidating and 'aggressive'. In the meeting my boss literally sat on his hands, stared at the floor and just agreed to everything. Which is HUGELY out of character as he is cantankerous and extremely domineering and controlling - especially when it came to me. He even tried to control who I associated with and spoke with.

Another example was playing with a mix of -none and copulins (cops are in Phero Girl) . People became what I can only explain as "fawning". It was, to be honest, a bit uncomfortable as I wore that mix socially. I think I will reserve it for meetings when I want to up my 'presence' and not get steam-rollered.

I think I should also explain that I am quite a forthright individual and in my 40s so the "I am scary woman, who eats men who patronise her for breakfast" vibe this type of pheros can impart doesn't seem as incongrous as it might on a younger, quieter woman. To be honest a lot of the more "girly" pheros make me feel quite irritable, I think it is because they don't sit well with my mind-set or personality and I feel like I am "disappearing".

Also, I work in a horrendously male-dominated enviroment, and my field has very few women. In short it is very much a boys' club with - to be frank - some real bullies in it. So, the -none tends to come out when I feel I am getting steam-rollered. And I tend to use it at very high doses -which is generally not advised, even for men. On men high-doses can make other men exposed to it very aggressive and even prone to violence as they try to out-alpha the wearer. It is also reported that younger women, and all women at certain stages in their cycle, can react extremely negatively to -none. Personally, I have yet to experience that. But there doesn't seem to be much research on women wearing it. Probably because male phero-users do seem to outnumber women phero-users. But the above is worth bearing in mind should you wish to try -none. For my part, I would never wear high-dose -none around people under the influence of alcohol, because that might up the risk of aggression/ violence.

I haven't used androsterone which is in Phero Boy but the Androstenols (especially alpha which is in Phero Boy), are fantastic for social encounters and upping the congeniality with men and women. I love those and their self-effects on me are marvellous, they make me feel upbeat, happy and generally bloomin' marvellous. I'd lay money on it being the Alpha Androstenol at work here.

Carrie might be able to give better input than me as I am still a bit of a newbie.

  19. Now that I have tried both Sugared Amber and Sugared Honeycomb I am sure Whiskers will really like the Amber. On me, Honeycomb and Amber are from a similar family. The amber is less sweet and has more powder.

I really did not "get" sugared amber at first. I had to wear it for a day to understand it. It is rich and extremely deep and I normally associate those qualities darker perfumes. This is sweet, but sexy too. It's not candy bar or (for fellow Brits) the honeycomb you get in crunchie bars or maltesers (which I was for some reason expecting) but this is thick, punguent, oozing, high quality country honeycomb - taken straight from the hive.

By the way it has been said above that men "react" to this - from a comment made to me today I can also say that Sapphic ladies seem to "react" to this too. :)

  20. Well, since it's all uphill to Wednesday, and downhill from there to the weekend, they call it hump day. Of course, humps come in all sizes and interpretations.

    LMAO

    Thanks!!

    I hadn't heard that one before! :)
