Does it really rain almost every day? I like cool, wet weather, but I do not enjoy living with frizzzzzzy hair!
Not every day, but we have just had a huge spate of it. It rains a heck of a lot more here than it does in the South. The Western edge of the UK tends to be pretty rainy. I would say rain-wise Glasgow is on a par with Southern Ireland. We got a lot of "soft" days - where the rain is so fine it is like a mist in the air the seems to permeate into everything.
On the up-side we never get hosepipe bans or droughts as they do in London - where there seems to be a perpetual water shortage - even in January some years!

Ok hon, this is the deal, you can have a stay at my place in AZ, and I will take over your Glaswegian flat for a bit, rain and all! I even have a diabetic cat, and one who snores here for you!!
Oh I love Arizona... I even like the insane heat..
I think nature planted me in the wrong country... as I get older I crave the heat more and more...
*sigh*
Roll on 2010

rain! Bah!
/weeps again!
Yeah, but rain - almost everyday??
To be honest the only reason I want to leave Scotland and move back South is the weather... I need to be able to dry my socks out at least occasionally.

Woman, you are not alone in that dream! I thought at first when I got my new place, I'd do it up in some form of Craftsman Style... I regularly get advertisements from outfits like "Restoration Hardware" so that I can dream, and drool over the stuff! And YOU get to see the likes of Makintosh, no? Loved the bottles too...I just got a calendar this year, and will be framing the prints once the month is done.
I'm afraid once again there are far too many I NEED to sniff this month. Add that to the bottle I'm getting for my newly-addicted friend, and another I have to get before it sells out...and...
Arts and Crafts wise I am totally spoilt here in Glasgow. My "office" (besides being a huge building) is pretty much bang slap across the road from where MacIntosh's house used to stand, and the School of Art is beautiful, and I get to drink tea in the Willow Tea Rooms. But, before you become envious, as it is Glasgow I do have to do all this in the rain...

Oh yeah, just a couple sniffs of this one, and I ordered the full size.....I just love it.....I get mostly rose, too with just a hint of dark chocolate.....like the semi-sweet baking chips or straight unsweetened cocoa powder.....
I get zero chocolate
It's weird I love chocolate and my skin eats it...
I love more the flavour of sweet lemon, you know in icing, lemon cake etc... and my skin eats it...
I'm beginning to wonder it there is a link

Phero Girl Dominance
In the vial this smells like a divine combination of rose and chocolate. On my skin the chocolate dies right back and I get a heavenly cloud of incredible Rose Otto ( a real favorite of mine).
I don't, at this stage, get any trace of the coffee, nor of the chocolate which doesn't really suprise me as my skin "eats" anything foody except a few things like vanilla and honey. The other ingredients may shine forth later as the rose dies back. My skin does tend to really beef up rose otto.
But even if the other notes do not emerge. This is a beautiful heady fragrance - and another one for my wish list.

The Monkees... I'm a believer!
I'm always listening to my Monkees CD.
Just great upbeat fun, summer music...
Ok, now what about the Beach Boys? You being in California and all?
I'm currently getting into some older stuff. I've started listening to Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Billie Holliday.
Ever considered a Jazz/ Blues themed perfume? Kind of an "All that Jazz"? It could be fun.

May, have you tried Mermaids? I love it......it is fruity, but has a seaweed-y tang to it.....I am definitely taking it on my beach vacation this September......
My skin eats it... also, it's lovely but is a soft, dreamy aquatic... and you know how subtle I am...

Robin and Marian
I can defintely see the similarities between this and Potion Bastet. Wet - for just a couple of seconds - it has a strange chemical edge but that evaporates in seconds to a very rich and deep fragrance.
Like PB this smells EXPENSIVE - like very wealthy ladies in designer clothes wafting through the floors of Harrods. It's deep, it's bold and it is very elegant.
I think I need to have some of this one.
I know there are some PB lovers out there so I am going to do a side by side comparison of the two and see how similar or different they are.

See? I chased Cinderfallen out of the room, too!
heh.
I think all of the labels are lovely, but I really love the Nouveau feel of Flapper and Violitius [sp]. I love the art and decor from around that period. From noveau to deco - but most of all th arts and crafts movement. If I ever win the lottery I'm going to buy an appropriate property and restore it and decorate top to bottom in that style...
Well, a girl can dream!

I'm so excited about the bellydancing one! ( My mom will be thrilled to know she can order some cougar potion!)
I love the sound of the bellydancing one too. I reckon Darbla will be jumping up and down about it as well!
Oh I love new release day!

Such great labels, such tantalizing stuff!! Ok, I need to get organized and make-a the list...this is a boost on a kind of crummy Sunday nite. THANKS ladies!
Oo, and May congratulations! I know packing is dull as dirt...done it too many times...were I there I'd surely give you a hand - I'm *really* good with boxes! Hang in there, the end is worth the trials!
Thanks Katz...
I am looking forward to the move. BUT, it's the cats that visit with me. They keep coming in and staring at the boxes and then at me. These little fur-people have a way of getting under your skin don't they?
I am feeling sooo guilty. Especially about the poor fella who has the diabetes - we've bonded and I will really miss him, even his snoring. I did offer to pack him and take him with me, but that's a no-no apparently.
Kitties aside. I know it will all be worth it in the end, once the dust has settled.
So, what is going on the list this month?

BEAUTIFUL update!!!!
And congrats, May!
Thank you Gale.
But they didn't tell me that the flying monkeys aren't house-trained.

Yeah, May! Another $5.00 credit for your LP Wallet. Congrats on your 500th post!!!
Hey, go check your email!
Yay!
I don't suppose you sell the flying monkeys? Particularly ones skilled in bundling books together? But I would settle for one who could just cook and clean....
May
edit.. oh and sew... it would help if he/she could sew too...

LOL! May you are in rare form today!
xoxoxox
I'm sitting here, surrounded by packing boxes, bored crapless. It's not that I haven't got stuff to do. I'm procrastinating. I've got to edit something dull and am currently having to research classical geopolitical theory.
And believe me, in this case, that is even duller than it sounds...
I need distraction...
I start packing the books tomorrow

Edit: Ooh bonus... I have to turn in my unicorn and swap it for a broomstick.

*No!*
Bwahahahahahaha!
Kidding, I should have it up soon.
*May cries and wipes her nose on her sleeve*
Danna's being mean to me...
*sniffle, snuffle, snuck, sob...*

LOL! You guys crack me up.
You can order a monthly trial vial collection now if you like, but the rest of the order pages will take us another 48 hours or so.
Nasty Habits was a song I wrote for my old band Precious Metal. It was Danna's idea to use it as a perfume name and theme.
So come on then... can we get a little hint about "Nasty Habits"? Just a little one?
May

Yeah, Nasty Habits sounds like it will probably be right up my alley..... ....when will they be available?
Y'know...
In the absolutely nicest possible way... I saw "Dirty Habits" and, after thinking "ooh that sounds interesting" my next thought was "I wonder how long it will take Dolly to order a sample".
May
(Wondering if she should grab her coat and run for the door? )

OH WOW!
Love the sound of the one designed for Belly Dancers and I am very curious about "Nasty Habits". I have to hand it to you ladies your choice of labels and artists for this month's releases is absolutely fantastic! Can't wait to read the full descriptions
Happy dancing!

Research does seem to indicate that foody scents do appeal to men. However, My Beloved, like your man, Dolly, truly doesn't appreciate them; he says "Only food should smell like food." and, anything with chocolate smells like "burnt feet" to him... (so PheroGirl Dominance is a "just for me" scent, and it seems to work *very* well on the 7th graders)
It should work very well on some of the guys I work with then, Although in their 20's they behave just like a bunch of 7th graders - come to that, so do most men!

HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA..... .....on a regular basis, I am turning myself on with pheros and/or LP usage.....
I am sooo intrigued by the cougar blend. I'm hoping it will either be blended, or I can blend it, with a killer summer tropical fragrance for my hols.
Nothing too foody or coconutty though - it seems to attract the mosquitos on me...

I'll toast with you......I am partaking of a daquiri as we speak! I bought a gallon yesterday......a nice, fruity concoction, called the "heart attack"......
Blimey,
Marketing might want to rethink the cheery branding....

The toast, of course, will be a slightly belated one to Mara's friend Kevin McCarthy, who as well as being a fab actor, celebrated his 94th birthday yesterday!

Hey, May! We're in the same boat! =) Actually, I'm waiting for my travel reimbursement to hit my bank account so I can, you know, pay off my other bills. But you always have next month, right? =D
Heya Cinderfallen.
Are you after something on the going, going, gone list too? I guess I am just going to have a nice glass of this friendly looking bottle of Chablis to help me deal with the stress of it all! (It being a Saturday and all.) Care to join me in a toast? The wine is nicely chilled!
Hugs

I must comply with Gale here. I was also expecting stong herbal - but it is not like that at all. I defintely get the hazelnut but it is not overpowering. There are spices present but it is not a fragrance that jars from note to the next - it is very well balanced. To me it is not totally round, there is a kind of nutty creaminess there, but there is also a little, and only a very little, undercurrent of spikness. It's very nice, it's not so loud that it will enter a room before you but it is very interesting and I imagine it would pull people into your personal space - in order to smell you better. It's quite an intimate number...
