  1. Phew! :)

I am so glad you like it! When you wrote that you had purchased some because I liked it so much I was a little worried! But I think we must be olefactory twins at least! ;)

  2. I fell in love with my sample, so I snatched a bottle before it sold out. Native Soil was like nothing else I'd tried from Love Potions . . . Or pretty much anywhere else. Here are the notes I cut-and-pasted from the site:

This is a Protection Potion, with a very sexual context. Just as a Vampire must sleep with a bit of his native soil for protection, this Spell Potion too is designed to keep unwelcome elements out of your circle and away from where you lay your head at night. It contains many ingredients designed to keep nasties away, but this Cinnamon and Sandalwood based scent will keep the ones you invite into your world coming back for more! ;) May be worn by both Women and Men.

The description might leave you thinking super-cinnamon, but that was definitely not the case--and the cinnamon never turned into "Big Red gum," either, which is always a plus! ;) Instead I got a melange of lovely warm spices over frankincense.

I like it very much on its own, and as such I can see its potential as a blend for women or men; it's very warm and comforting. But I really like it layered under something sweet, like another old favorite of mine. This particular old favorite has a very definite blackberry note . . . And the combination of all that warmth with a little fresh, sweet blackberry . . . Wow! After my boyfriend smelled that particular combination on me, he drove me crazy to wear it again. I wouldn't be surprised if it worked well with several different layering notes, so if anyone finds another fun combination, please let me know!

Thank you SO much for this.

I'm adding it to my wish list for next paycheck as I type... I'd love to know what the blackberry "old favourite" was though :o

  3. Hi

Would anyone be kind enough to share their thoughts on Native Soil. I know it's sold out but I am thinking of sourcing some on the secondary market and there doesn't seem to be any reviews.

    Thanks in advance! ;)

  5. This is a very clever fragrance. I was raised as a Catholic so for me the idea of communion fragrances were a little different: wafers not bread; no shared wine but billowing clouds of incense throughout the church. So I was mentally predisposed to think communion = heavy perfume. But this is not like that.

This is much lighter and airier. It is a church with sunlight streaming through the windows rather than a dark, smoke filled gothic church. Unlike blupest the honey note rises to the top on me, there is a little smoke to the back of the perfume, but it does not overpower. The bread is there too, but it is not heavy or yeasty but soft and lifting.

    All good stuff. ;)

  6. I've just tried Kapet again. I know that with my Kyphi incense recipes maturation can sometimes make a difference, and I could be wrong, but I think my vial of Kapet has "rounded" and "blended" a bit in the last month. The notes seem to be running into each other more smoothly. Is it just me? Has anyone else noticed anything similar? It just seems more holistic and less fragmented?

Of course I could be losing the plot! :)

  7. I've tried Sabra's and Hecate's. If you search you will find reviews of them here. There are a few reviews for the amber too. (Just in case you haven't spotted it yet, the search tool is in the top lilac banner on the right-hand side) ;)

I don't remember seeing an Aztec moon review tho.... ;)

  8. Just to chime in.

Eow is ultra, ultra concentrated. Applying it neat is very tricky, of all the pheromones avaible EoW seem to be the hardest to get "right". You have to let it dry totally, for at least 15-20 mins before you even think of putting a normal perfume over it. Which is a good habit to get into with it. At most you need a few drops of EoW spread over several points.

For me, I need way, way less. I am one of the women who has found I get the best results with neat EoW hours and hours after application. So, I have a little spray bottle with pre-diluted EoW for when I want to use it. Or I used products like Phero Girl where the predilution is done for me, or the cops are blended with other pheros.

If anyone has bought NEAT EoW have a look at the links Dolly provided. If applied incorrectly EOW can make you sound like an over-ripe gorgonzola or a tons of rotting fruit.

For my part I am sticking with perfumes like Phero Girl - with EoW less is always more B)

  9. I have been wearing this all day, and I want to rub it over every inch of my body!!!!! It's like I can't get enough of it.....it smells soooooo good!! I can't wait to let my honey smell me tomorrow evening.....I think he's really going to like this one!!!

Mara and Danna.....you should really put this in a soap.....do you know how absolutely fabulous that would be? I might try that myself, actually.....I buy translucent glycerin soap base (from Organic Creations), and add my own scents......

I seem to remember, from the "other place" That red is a great cover scent too. IIRC it even went well over Dirty and amplified its effects. Trust me - if you haven't tried it - Dirty is enough to send you screaming from the house, and it doesn't soften down to a "fruit" tone either. A good snuffle of Dirty and I never complained about EWWW again B)

    It pongs....

  10. Oh yeah, my fiancee is coming over tonight! Heheheheheeeeeee ;) He's gonna be visiting for the next three days.....tonight--Honeycomb, tomorrow--LP Red, and Saturday--LP black.....it's going to be a fun weekend!! ;)

I can say this already.....I just applied a LOT of EW (those of you who know me, know that I usually swim in it), and covered it with the honeycomb, and I can't even detect the stank of EEEEEWWWW..... :)

    Fiancee??

Did I know you had become engaged?? Congrats girl! Now go and have fun and I report back as soon as he has gone :)

  11. I'm going to try putting on some EW and covering it with the Honeycomb tomorrow. Let's see what happens.....

OOh a Dolly test... ;) ;) :) Make sure you to report back, I'm itching to know! - I don't have a TG to try it out on and am working (all the hours god sends...) from home at the moment so no testing opportunites. :)

  12. I shook mine not so much because I read the directions to do so but simply because I saw the "settled layer" (so I was correct just by luck and not by virture of reading; not a good balance for a teacher, huh?)... and it is indeed a beautiful scent and definitely rich in terms of the interplay of scents. Still, for me, it's "texture" is thin (yes, the oil is thick; that's not what I mean :) ) and the notes are "high" and slightly sweet. When I breath in the scent, it enters as a thin, light ribbon of scent, with this even lighter layer on top. What I mean, I think, is the same as the "brightness" to which Dolly alluded... and the airiness which May perceives.

My scent-texture preference, I think, is the muskier/spicier/darker/sharper scents (I love the thickness of these scents on my tongue and in my nose) and these "brighter"/"airier"/sweeter scents tend to powder on my skin (not that PheroGirl "powders" on me; just that scents of . So, I layer my PheroGirl with Dark Seductions (which I absolutely love*love*love and must stock up on before its gone forever! Oh, the limited edition aspect of the perfumes is making me feel like I need to collect this scent as if it were a precious wine) or Hecate (almost too sharp at first sniff but the dry-down is nice). I think I have noted in May's other responses a similar preference for the darker scents (am I right, May?).

I think you have absolutely nailed it here. I do have a noticeable preference for darker perfumes. But these darker perfumes can also have a sweet note in them. For example I like Sabra which is resinously sweet. I also like forevermore and spring equinox - I get a similar note of damp earth in the background of each and they also have a certain headiness that i like. But on the whole I like smoky, or sweet, resinous types of smells, ambers and woods. This probably explains why I find described PG as "airy". ;)

  13. As a fellow newbie I have noticed this too Dolly. More than any others I have tried, these perfumes can smell almost totally different in the bottle and/ or when you first put them on to the way they smell on dry-down.

You really need to try them on skin and let them sit a while to get an idea. That's why I didn't "get" Sugared Amber or Sugared Honeycomb straight away. I was too impatient and didn't give them a chance to bloom. :)

  14. In the bottle and when first applied this really reminded me of Sabra's Secret which is one of my favorites. The initial top note is the same. Does this have Dragon's Blood in it? Or am I picking up some resins the two have in common.

However, unlike Sabra that note steps back on dry-down, it is still there but forms an evocative backdrop rather than up-front on the stage.

But, like Sabra this is a complex blend the individual notes are hard to pick out and blend almost seamlessly into one another. The result is a resinous, smooth and full fragrance with a noticeable Egyptian edge.

  15. Another vote of confidence for this one. I was not expecting to like this - but I did. I guess previous experience with the pine-type perfumes of other manufacturers put me off, the others always somehow ended up smelling like fragranced disinfectant or air freshener.

But this is the scent of a snow crisped pine forest. It has a rich resin backdrop with just the right amount of pine needle piercing through and a slight mint tang adds the effect of crunching ice and snow underfoot.

It is deeply refreshing - a real winner and I am very tempted to buy a big bottle

    Luvverly

  16. I like this one too - but on me it comes out a little differently.

Wet it is sweet buttery vanilla followed swiftly with the kick of rum. The rum fades back a bit and there is a little spice in the background, it could be nutmeg, it's not overpowering it's soft and well blended.

After an hour or two, I still get the vanilla, and hint of rum, but - for some reason - it also has the tang of sweet apple and spice.

It's really lovely - but I am not sure where the apple comes from, not that I am complaining.

By the way this also has a good "throw" people seem to notice it and it lasts well - even on my scent-eating skin.

  17. I've posted this elsewhere but I think I should put it here.

You already have a fantastic base for a phero blend in Sugared Honeycomb. That stuff is sex in a bottle without adding any pheros - add the pheros and Ka-Powie!!

PS Sorry for not being around much in the last few I've got three deadlines all co-inciding on the same date...

  18. Woobie Dysfunction Scents: Elf Farts, Reindeer Turds and Yellow Snow? Oh, man... :) )

I had no idea Elf Farts could smell like that.

But what the heck would your reply be if someone said: "You smell nice what are you wearing?" :)

  19. If you can't get away and drink rum cocktails hot, blissful tropical beaches - and boy, I wish I could - this is probably the next best thing. Yummy, summery and boozy!
