Very adorable baby! Oxytocin is not a pheromone though, and does not travel through the air. It is produced in your own bloodstream and cannot be transferred from one person to another in the manner you discuss. Two of our members here, Xev and Rosebud - one a scientist and the other a doctor, posted on the subject a few years ago, and Dr Stone - one of of the premier phero scientists on earth says the same. Dr stone says that selling Oxytocin as a pheromone is separating fools from their money, and that IF it actually did work that way, would be criminally irresponsible because it could cause women to go into labor. You can produce the same effect with scent alone, as you get with pheros. What makes you feel calm and serene? The traditional go-to would of course be lavender, but in my experience a combination of lavender, oakmoss and perhaps peppermint or eucalyptus works even better. What makes me personally de-stress is the scent of earth and rain. I made one last Fall called Fair Ground, have you tried it? Wet earth and cedar, just perfection for calming nerves. Last month I made something similar in B&B - bar soap and bathing salts, called The Grove. I would highly recommend trying these if this sort of fragrance appeals to you.

Pheromone research is too much in its infancy for anyone to give you a definitive answer. I will share though, that Dr Stone says pheromones are not absorbed by the skin. He says that any effect would be so negligible as to be non-existent. His assistant recently worked all throughout her pregnancy mixing pheros with no ill effect. I asked her if she was worried and she said, "Not at all." That said, in my personal opinion, you should always lean towards caution. Go with your gut instinct. You're asking because you are concerned, so I would say, put them aside for a while. And good luck!

We're selling off the Sugared Collection now. The ones that have ALWAYS been permanent will remain so: Roses Honeycomb Pathcouli Amber Frankincense & Myrrh Pure Sugar They are easy to make, so we can do them again in the future, but maintaining the space for 150 blends can be pretty taxing. There's still a ton left so I'm sure we'll be selling off what is currently in stock for a while. After the sale is over I will make listings for each of those that are remaining.

Not an urban myth. An example of bad science that was presented with authority. One of my serious peeves. I was a guitarist by trade, and only an enthusiastic flute player as a hobby. Women tell us all the time that they get better tips when they are most fertile, a general consensus from too many unrelated people not to be the case. There are a couple of other spots on the body that I believe release pheromones that I wish someone would explore: * The oils in the scalp....there's a definite release of scent there, and many people talk about how much they love the smell of a baby's head or that of their loved one. A nurturing phero that inspires a protective instinct? * A woman's cleavage, ESPECIALLY when breast feeding, but also for much of her fertile life. One of my customers and her two teenage kids tell me this story that when they were little, they would run up to her and take a big breath of "mommy smell", and then run off, energized, feeling safe and invulnerable. A courage and confidence phero?

McClintock's work on the syncing up of cycles has been largely discredited. I was rather surprised when I found this out just a couple of years ago because it was a fable I had heard my entire life and simply accepted. When I thought about it tho, I'm one who should have realized this sooner, having spent an entire decade in an all-female band, where 5 women lived together for much of the year in extremely close quarters. Our cycles, never, ever synced. And trust me, we heard enough sexist jokes on the subject to have paid attention.
