Got this in the trades. I am amazed how strong it is 5 years later. I get floral lav (not medicinal) immediately and then the buttercream cake and frosting show with brown sugar-almost boozy or like dulce tres leches cake. The vanilla and caramel are the main notes with the lavender on the top like a floral topper on a cake. This is so yummy and calming. I wanted it for sleep but it's too good not to wear into the world.

I can't wait to try yours. It's still blistering hot in So Cal so I will be into cocoa butter until November and can see transitioning to a vanilla based ylang (yours) so we have the year covered!

Love this! I bought it because it had many of the same notes as Hauntings--sandalwood myrrh and powdered sugar. After dry down, they are very very close. But wet, Distant Calliope has a powerful cocoa powder note. It is much heavier and denser than Hauntings. Hauntings is more atmospheric and sheer so it wore very light on me with smoke and spice. This seems like it will have a good throw and weight. I don't see the rain accord here although it was mentioned. However I do smell an almost clean water note which might be the honey. I am going to need another bottle of this! Save me one!

May I reserve Witty Kittys silk and leather? I am excited to compare her creamy ylang to mine (haha rushes off giggling)

I am getting a bottle for my 3 year old niece Ellie but am worried because she has nut allergies. Are the nut oils real peanut and chestnut? I also want to say this is my favorite story of the Carnival collection--it was just delightful.

I got it today!!!! Oh my Lord, it IS good! As Luna said, it is a lighter, fluffy cocoa butter (than in Pherodise,for instance). In the bottle, I smell cocoa butter but applied, it is buttery ylang first with a bit of coconut milk (not getting cream). Then I smell a hint of something deeper but today I can't distinguish myrrh over Amber or Amber over myrrh. It's much lighter than the Odalisque and much less OTP floral in Seaside Sizzle or Pherodise. And it's sheer today which I didn't expect from the notes. But it's closest to the smells of the later two. I am not a floral fan but this is very wearable for me. After 20 minutes, the cocoa butter come back strong and I realize this is exactly perfect. Mara, you are such an artist! Thank you! I wish I had more and could share with all of you

Stacy, besides the smell of myrrh, I was seeking a protection note in this because the others notes are more vulnerable notes and I wanted to be able to wear this at my shark tank of an office.

Yes, I will try a fun situation next time. I did like the scent and it worked perfectly in a crowded ballroom speech situation, however, where I might have overwhelmed my neighbors had I worn a stronger scent.

I wore this today for the first time after letting it age. At first oil got orchids with a nice sandalwood base but it soon disappeared on me. I burn scents quickly and within an hour i had powder and it was fleeting. The pheromones helped although I don't need much to make me a woozy blonde. More than anything I think it helped keep me awake during a boring 3 hour speaker today but I also felt like I couldn't sit still. I will give it another go.

This is the perfect warm skin smell. The cocoa butter is not the roasty one (on me) as I found in dance with Desire nor the suntan cocoa butter in Seaside Sizzle. This is like natural cocoa butter I buy for soaping. The honey is the perfect counterpart and I get a deep base. I didn't read the notes but it feels like musk and Amber. I had never tried BI and haven't really tracked hits but I got a reaction from this. Co-worker males were nicer and more courteous. People were more attentive. This is such a perfect warm skin smell.

I live in California so our carnivals suck. All I know is funnel cakes and Throwing up Bacardi 151 on the Ferris wheel. Deeply disturbed childhood.
