  1. This is one of my favorite LPs. Not as overwhelmingly sweet as the original, not as dark as the black, still enough punch to be agressively sensual. In the bottle: Lots of vanilla and sugar, with a little creaminess. It reminds me of the cupcakes a friend of mine makes. She's allergic to eggs, so she buys cake mix, and uses vanilla pudding in place of the eggs. The result is extrememly gooey, has an extra dash of vanilla, and an extra dash of that boxed mix smell, which makes things taste more sinful. Wet: Okay, here is where I can smell buttercream. Also, the boxed mix smell is now clearly patchouli. This isn't a normal patchouli though, the amber lightens it, and there is a little bit of cinnamon, giving it a complex edge. Drydown: The vanilla stops being the most prominent note, and that complex patchouli/amber/cinnamon takes over. Very sensual. Very blatant. This is what sex on the sheets smells like, only without the acrid tang of old sweat, and with an added sweetness. Lucky for me, not only do I like this one, my partner does too. Yummy.
  2. Oh my. Not exactly how I would phrase it, but I get what you mean. On me, LP Black goes very dark and dirty. It's one of a very few LPMP scents that never quite meshes with my skin. It's sexy in a filthy sort of way, like a brothel with a coal stove that doesn't vent properly. I can use it as a character scent (everyone picks appropriate perfume for costumes, right ) but out and about as myself, I find it distracting and therefore not good for enticement and beguilement.

    Fest of Fools

Fest of Fools The scent of a traditional Christmas Wassail Punch ~ Apples, Pears, Oranges, Lemons, Sugar, Clove, Cinnamon, Nutmeg and more! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Magickal Meanings of Ingredients: APPLE ~ Love, healing, fertility, good luck, happiness, immortality. PEAR ~ Love, lust, longevity, luck. ORANGE ~ Eternal love, marriage, fruitfulness. LEMON ~ Energizing, uplifting, used to attract spirits. SUGAR ~ Attracts love, luck, sweetness and riches, lust inducing. CLOVE ~ Money attracting, deflects negative and hostile energies. CINNAMON ~ Male sexual stimulation, passion, lust, healing, protection, energy, creativity, psychic powers. NUTMEG ~ Strengthens clairvoyance, luck, money, health, fidelity. NOTE: Although well diluted, this potion contains cinnamon essential oil which can be irritating to the skin. Do not use in the vicinity of the eye or other mucous membranes. Discontinue use if sensitivity occurs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is fruity goodness, in the best way. In the bottle: All the fruit elements blend perfectly into a whole that is almost more like apricot than any of the notes that are actually in it. Wet: More of the same juicy fruits, that avoid being too much like candy or bubblegum by virtue of the almost imperceptible spices, which just add a rich depth to the fruit. Drydown: The spices are a little more apparent, but still very much part of the blend, and playing second fiddle to the fruit. I get more of a lemon breath to the fruit, but it still reminds me of apricots. Love, love, love.
  4. Welcome, Dolly. (It's not ambery in the least, but you have to get at least a sample of Lolita's Kiss because of your name.) First we had a BPAL influx, and now a round Pherotalkers. How fun!

    OdinClaus

Salomewild has the description spot on. The drydown on me still has some pine in it, but so much pine that I feel drenched in sticky sap. This one didn't last as long as some LPMP scents, maybe four or five hours instead of the usual eight to twelve. But adding a little more was no problem, and allowed me a much needed moment of invigoration in the afternoon.

    Sugared Forest

Ooh, you should try Odin Clause.
  7. Scent is so important in a mate. I've dated some very wonderful men, but they had this geranium undertone to their smell, and I just couldn't do it. The real challenge is finding a mate who has feet stink that smells good. Oh, and I once dated a guy who made old cigarette smoke smell divine. We aren't talking cloves or anything, he smoked Basics, or whatever was cheapest. I've never met another man with that particular alchemy. His shirts smelled so good.
  8. I don't get popcorn out of this, more of a vanilla caramel, with a breath of milk chocolate. This is another one that makes me hungry when I wear it, so it doesn't see a lot of use. It does make me smell good enough to eat, but when I tried wearing it for, *ahem*, edibility purposes, it was found not to taste as good as it smells. This one is slightly less hunger inducing than Pied Piper, so I may try it as a kid friendly perfume some time.
  9. When I first got this, and sniffed it in the bottle, I thought it was way too sweet. Gooey, sticky sweet. Not for me. Recently, I decided to give it a test swing anyway. Mmmm. On, the sticky sweet becomes creamy. The rootbeer, sassafrass scent is bright and fun, only really good rootbeer tastes like this. (Sadly, I will drink even the bad stuff, but whoo boy, when you find the good stuff, you know it.) As it dries, the cream steps back, and this settles into a lovely, spicey blend. I will never put something away untested again.
  10. This is just what lavender should be, comforting, soothing, and homey. The scent doesn't shift on application or drydown, what you sniff is what you get. This is a perfect bedtime scent, and works for me very well. Swift sleep and sweet dreams. (It's also one of about three scents that my mother will even consider wearing.)
  11. In the bottle and on, wet: Fruity awesomeness. Rich, and decadent. The scent of an decadent spread of the ripest fruits. Drydown: As the feast wears on, and the sky outside darkens, the scent of heavy florals takes over the room. Expensive spices and incense mingle with the flowers. Really, this is oppulence, and femininity. You can almost smell the nubile serving boys as they wander by.
  12. Ooh, thanks for the layering tip. *tries it* (no, I don't have all my samples at work today, why do ask? *hides box*) Yes, much more floral than Forevermore, and more dirt than Spring Eq., lovely.
  13. In no particular order, and for the moment: Betrothal Medium Communication Wine and Dead Roses Hallowtide
  14. Mmm. Yes, Forevermore is a great incense rose. Much drier than Wine and Dead Roses though.
  15. The sugared Roses are a little too sweet for me. I've been thinking about the Musky Dusky too. The Going, going, gone thread reccomends Aztec Moon as a replacement for this one. Lots of the notes are similar, but it just doesn't have that ROSE quality to it.
  16. am starting a rec thread for you, quietguy. It's over here.

    Sugared Forest

Very cool (as in temperature) forest. Heavy on the evergreens, but with mosses and other leaves on the ground. Some days I smell the sugar in this one, and other days I don't. The amber sweetens this one better than sugar, and makes it ride my skin smoothly. (I think my chemistry loves amber.) This one is great for layering with other fruity and cakey scents to make Christmas/Winter blends.
  18. I know, not fair to review a scent that's sold out. But this is one of my all time favorites, and I am crushed that I'll never have a bottle of it. So maybe, if I interest people, this one can be brought back. In the bottle: Juicy roses. Perfect, juicy roses. The Merlot blends into the florals, making them lusher, richer, juicier. On wet: The roses remain, and you can smell a hint of the soil they grow in. Dark soil, as rich and lush as the blossoms. Drydown: The roses take on more complexity. There are clearly several, in different states of death and drying. One is powdery, like the keepsakes of a first bouqet, carefully preserved and stored away in a memory chest. The others are fresher, giving out a last heady bout of sweetness before decompostition sets in. I love rose scents, and have many from different vendors. This one is my favorite. It's sexy, and dark; sweet, without being too sweet; earthy and etherial. (Please bring it back.)
  19. The wet and the drydown are very similar on me, so I'm not even going to separate them. This blend smells like an expensive men's cologne. Every element blends perfectly into a a lovely woodsy scent, with a deep, masculine edge. My guy friends don't like it on me, because it doesn't smell like a woman's perfume. But I love it. It's a lot like borrowing your boyfriend's shirt because you love the smell. It doesn't smell like me, but I want to cuddle up and breath it in anyway. This is a secret treat to slather on when I have the house to myself and can snuggle up in an oversized flannel shirt to watch movies of the week on the telly. (Well, yes, I could put it on my man, but it isn't exactly his style. Plus, this way I can have an extra secret boyfriend without all the drama.) For you guys out there: This is defnitely sexy. If you like woodsy blends, try this one out. You will get attention.
  20. In the bottle: the Rum, figs and eggnog blend into a rich Christmas cake. Wet: There's also something bitter, like dark coffee, but without the coffee. The fir and holiday greenery also threads its way through, and I am taken back to the road side Christmas tree stands where my family would go to pick out a tree. (We used to hit three or four places before finding just the right one.) Drydown: The holiday greens are more prominent, and the cake has faded into a dark figgy pudding, which hovers in the background. This smells like the best craft stores, all decorated for the holiday season. You know, that smell which hits you when you walk in, and makes you feel like Christmas is here, even when it's still October.
  21. This is one of my favorites, and last time I checked, I was still female. In the bottle: a burst of fresh green. Wet: more freshness. The grass is lovely, and very present, but tempered by the other ingredients so it isn't just "I mowed the lawn today." Usualy, ozone turns very masculine on me, and I choose not to wear it, but the ozone in this is light, like a lovely spring breeze. The sweet musk and soft spices blend really well with my own chemistry, and help the other scents rest easy on me. (So often musk goes wrong on me, so I really like that this one doesn't.) I have a guy friend who also counts this on his list of favorites, though my partner (male) finds it a little sharp. I find it delightfully refreshing, and wear it when I need to be awake and invigorated, or just when I want a little pick-me-up.
  22. Welcome, quietguy and all the lovely new members who are making these boards take flight. There's also a sample set just for men, which might be a good way to get your feet wet. After you're hooked, you should try everything else, because there's ton's of great stuff that's not in the pack.
  23. In the bottle this is intriguing. It smells like Indian grocery stores, and import shops, with a dark layer of sensuality writhing underneath; incensey and erotic. Wet: incense and resins, but the darkness is much more prominent, coming through as a heavy muskiness on my skin. Drydown: I couldn't let it dry all the way, as whatever the muskiness is took over and made me feel ill. This is something which happens with my skin chemistry sometimes. There are certain perfumes that just turn into the scent of a wild animal in heat when they hit my skin. (Not as sexy as you might think.) I am very sad that this one doesn't work on me, as I really liked the Magickal Properties of it. I think I'll try it on my sister, as her skin is better behaved, and I think the scent is one which will appeal to her.
  24. In the bottle: I get a whiff of something spicey, followed by a breath of ripe oranges, and I am transported to holidays of my childhood, when we would stick cloves in oranges, and hang them around the house. Wet: The spiciness which I originally though was cloves, becomes more complex. The orange similarly explodes with complexity, and becomes a tart frutiness which is almost more like cherries. When I look at the notes in this blend, I see that the spiciness is the cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg blend. The fruit must be the orange, but I don't see where the cherry brightness has come from. Drydown: The fruits have settled into the spices, now that the resins have come out to act as binding agents. This is intoxicating, spiced punch; heady and rich, but not cloying. The description relates this scent to Carnival, and there is something very festive about it. It is sexy without being, "hit you over the head," sensual. It works equally well as a sweet and innocent girl who wants to up the vamp quotient, and a vamp who wants to let out her soft side and just dance for the night. (The mask on bottle art is perfect for this balanced duality in the scent.) And, because it is that time of year: I think Plaisirs is also a perfect Christmas scent, being warm and bright, juicy and complex. (It even couples well with the scent of a pine tree. Try layering it with Sugared Forest for a "Land of the Sugarplum Fairy," effect.) Edit: for typo
