  1. JLisa or Saffron, have you tried Christie's Sweet and Spicy? I had LPMP wait to send my parcel until I ordered a couple of other things. I'm so eager to find out what this scent says to everyone.
  2. Gee, thanks, Rose. BTW, feeling your insomnia.
  3. Can we just all agree to be screwed and tattooed?
  4. Holy crap, I'm a whole new something or other. Gabgabgab-blatherblatherblather-blahblahblah-shutmeupshutmeupshutmeup..
  5. There is no top five. Who are we kidding?!
  6. I was lucky enough to receive this in a trade. This is one of those "I'm lost in a beautiful dream, so please don't wake me" scents. Lilacs are my favourite floral scent, well nearly favourite scent of any kind. Meld that with honey and I'm a goner. Lilacs drizzled with gold and kissed with sweet sparkles. Complete surrender.
  7. This is gorgeously dangerous, a cross between Rita Hayworth's Gilda and Kathleen Turner's Matty Walker (Body Heat). Younger members will need to search the references, but anyone 40ish or older will need only those two characters to tell you all you need to know.
  8. HA, Cherise! This is a great scent for the boys AND the girls, don't you think?
  9. Oh, you're gonna think I'm crazy. I get grapefruit..which is great, but this is all grapefruit for the first five minutes. WTH? I didn't see grapefruit on the guest list, but wow, what a bright and sunny guest! A few moments later the black currant enters, all syrupy yummy. Ylang-ylang just made an appearance as well. Thus far, the party is a small but vibrant gathering. Oh, now other guests are arriving. I think (at about 15 minutes) there is a golden warmth beginning to come through, perhaps the vanilla. At 20 minutes, the coconut has arrived, quietly. She's a bit shy, letting the brighter fruits shine while she glides through the room like silk on a breeze. She joins vanilla on the fringes. The grapefruit exits the gathering after about 30 minutes, turning this from a beach party to a much more intimate gathering ~ dinner with glittering champagne cocktails on a smallish yacht. Patch must have declined this party invitation. That's fine, since Patch sometimes overdoes it, requiring the bouncer's services. No worries. The party continues, beautifully bubbly and bright.
  10. Fresh! Fresh!! FRESH!!! From the minute I applied this it was a splashy, burst of happiness. Right away, the aloe, coconut and cucumber come through as the stars. What an amazing combination! The juniper and peppermint are faint, not forward at all, but add to the breath of fresh air. The cactus..juicy, like Saguaro water. Throughout the entire drydown, which is rapid, I never get the sandlewood, unless it simply adds to the extra-light sweetness. At about twenty minutes in, the coconut is fading, and the juniper becomes a bit more pronounced, but by 35 minutes, the juniper has gone, and the coconut and cucumber return. Oh, and then the Hedione is truly detectable. The lightness is there, the floating on a summer breeze sensation. So clean and fresh, a just showered freshness. I love this! I would absolutely wear this. I think my sons would happily wear this. Fantastic!
  11. I was lucky enough to snag a bottle in the trades. (Thanks!), and must say this is a fun little scent. The sniff I had prior was shaken and worn on a cooler day. This time, I wore it during 93°Friday summer heat and high humidity. We went to a festival with loads of wonderful food and an insane number of attendees. I was sweating like a pig, (Gross), but every time I reached up to swipe my face I kept thinking,"Where are the Deep-fried Twinkies? I smell them. I just can't find them!" Then I realised, I was smelling my arm (DOH!), and WOW it was great! We were at the festival for about three hours. When we got back to the car I could detect the smokey undertones. The marshmallow was still going strong. Warm, gooey and a wispy hint of smoke. Luscious!
  12. I can't speak. I'm drooling. This is coconut, "fresh-cracked" (as Luna said). Crazy-fresh! Ok. After the dry down: Tropical combined with the desert. Having spent a good amount of time in the the Arizona desert, I can attest to juicy, watery plants that are prized for their valuable life-giving qualities, and, to the flowering plants who let everyone know the desert is a living thing. In the Catalinas the entire desert blooms. When we drove to Gates Pass, we'd hike through the miracle of Tucson springtime. We'd sit at the top of the ridge and the wind would swirl the scented sand all around us. When the sun would get high noonish, there'd always be a bit of a scorched earth note mixed in, but it is somehow refreshing in the pure-dry sense. Once we got too hot, we'd hike back down the pass, planning to hit the pool when we got home. The combination of suntan oil and desert flowers, dreams of the cool blue of the swimming pool..this is it. I am transported back to the beloved mountains and desert. Thank you for this vacation.
  13. At the start, Pineapplecoconut..(?)..is out front. Apricot is out in the first. Quickly following is Vanillafreesia. Patch tries to wedge itself along the inside, but Amber is out in front. Pineapplecoconut is fading but is not giving up. Two laps in, freesia falls back, but Vanilla hangs on, overtaking Amber. It looks like we have Vanillamber moving up, now taking the lead. This is really getting exciting folks! Holding firm out front, heading into the third lap is Vanillamber, with Pineapplecoconut making a move. Pineapplecoconut is gaining. Half-way into the third lap Vanilla is slowing down, losing steam, but Amber holds on. This is going to be close! Oh, coconut can't hold on! She's falling back into third place, no match for Amber. Only time will tell who takes the crown. Will it be Pineapple or Amber? They're headed into the home stretch. Neck and neck! They're burning up the course, neither willing to take second place. Vanilla will take third place today, with a valiant effort. The two front runners are nearing the finish line with only seconds to go. This could be a photo finish, folks! They're nose to nose. Who will take the crown?! It is Amber by a hair! What a beautiful finish!

    Totem: Chick

At first, this is butter cream. The Corn Chex scent that I sensed in the vial never showed itself. The rice shows up all silky alongside the creaminess. During the dry down there is a sweetness coming through that I associate with the humidity of August and tall-standing corn waving in the breeze..cornsilks.. sweet, fresh and warmed by the sun. "She's driving fast now, windows down in the truck to suck in some air. Already 92 degrees and it isn't even half ten. It rained last night, but the sun came up blazing, pulling the dampness out of the earth and into the sky. Clouds are clumping together on the horizon. There'll be a storm this afternoon, but for now, there's just this old truck, and familiar potholes to dodge. Radio's playing something she can't make out over the rocks and mud slingin' up under the tires. Can hear the damned locusts buzzin' over everything. She cranks the volume. The shocks are long shot; Old Bess rides like a buckboard. She pushes down hard on the gas, and takes aim at a waterlogged pothole. Grey water flies and her head smacks the top of the cab. Ponytail flyin' in the wind as she heads through the corridor of green sentinels with tasseled caps. They pay her no mind as she tears through their post, standing straight and tall down the long dirt road..row on row as far as the eye can see." (from: Farmgirl, Wendy L.H. Becher)
  15. I never had the opportunity to experience the original version, but this year's version is interesting and warm. At first, it is the scent that matches the liquor-filled chocolates our pals bring us from Europe, all boozy and fruity and chocolate-dipped. As the dry down begins, the ginger and patch (I think), come forward and the fruits disappear. The chocolate and boozy vanilla settle in for the ride. For a few moments the patch tries to get put of control, but calms down and backs away, leaving a darkened ginger. After dry down, I cannot pick out any one note...warm and a little spicy, with a little something tickling at the bridge of my nose. I like this, but at the end of the day, I will let the Ambrosia fiends grab these.
  16. Thank you! Thank you! A thousand timrs, thank you all for the beautiful summer delivery! Everything is perfect, and so pretty. Thanks for all the yummy sniffies! You have all outdone yourselves this month.. Applause!!!

    Summer Crush

Short and sweet: This is strawberry rose petal tea with a twist of lemon by the seaside. That's all you need to know about this!
  18. I am standing in my kitchen on Saturday morning. The window is open and the air is carrying in the faintest floral. I have poured raw honey into a small dish and added fresh cream. I'm stirring it "Go 'round" style, in the way grandma taught me, making a striped slurry for my tea. I don't even wait for the tea. I spoon up some gold and pop it in my mouth. It melts and I'm in heaven. Warm, gooey-rich honey-cream goodness, and dew-fresh floral. Mmmhmmm, yes ma'am. This will do it.
  19. So, Mara, that negates a rebrew request for Mara's Magick. I read the notes for it. I'm sorry I didn't know about LPMP when you created your Magick. In terms of this new scent, Moist goes on soft. It is the refined string section of the orchestra rather than than the brass. Mara, your description is exactly right. This is so soft that it comes off as an elusive breeze. After the dry down, I detect what must be the Hedione, which as I breathe it in, seems to expand and carry the scent upward, filling my head in much the same way helium rises. It is a beautiful effect, adding to the above discussion of finding the scent on the air. The floral blend is seamless, delicate. The overall impression is kissing in soft focus.

    Dragonfly

I am typically terrified of blue lotus. It usually takes knashing bites out my olfactory system. I do not know how on earth you created such a soothing oasis. Straight from the vial, I knew this would be fine. I didn't know it would be exquisite. At first, the Lotus is front and center. As it dries, there is a slight whiff of something with a bit of camphor, but that changes quickly to something cooling that allows me to breathe all the way to my toes. The amber is so light that I hardly notice it. The bamboo adds a quality reminiscent of the texture of raw silk. After 30 minutes, this continues to soften. It wears truly light and airy, reminding me of the way shimmering dragonflies seem to float effortlessly above water. Really pretty scent. ETA: I wore this to bed, and when I awoke, there was pretty dragonfly to greet me. Beautiful morning.
