  1. Dude, CycleKitten, he's totally bi-polar. I'm no doctor, but my ex fiancé was and my daughters Dad is. My ex fiancé was so messed up that he ended up overdosing. He was my best friend for years after we broke up, and it killed me. Look man, I respect that you've done so much for this guy. You've done your best. But a mountain of herbs and all the flowery language and tears, babying and cuddling on earth won't change a lick of what's wrong with this man because there is a chemical imbalance in his brain that needs clinical leveling. You can't do it, your husband can't do it. For his own good he's got to man up and take that first step to get professional help. Bi polarism does not go away on its own, and it can make a person decline to the point of hurting themselves if left untreated. If he had a heart problem he'd see a doctor, right? Well, mental illness is just another illness, despite the stigma people still seem to carry about it. I've been in and out of therapy a few times myself. I can honestly say I think it saved my life at one point, about 9 years back. He's a grown man though Cycle. He's got to pull up his pants and go. For his own good. And you, well if I were you, after this visit I wouldn't go back to see him until he's in treatment. You enable this behavior by saying "oh honey, it's ok, I'm here. Tell me all about it."....YOU are his drug of choice right now and believe me sister he will use you UP. So stop enabling. I really don't mean to sound harsh. I know I haven't been around that much but I'm in medical school of sorts right now, and raising Lena so I've been busy. But I like you. You've been a member here for awhile and you seem really cool. But you've been telling us about his problematic ass for over a year now. Come on man, don't be a doormat. Don't make excuses for this guy. I don't think he's doing this stuff to you intentionally. I truly think there's a chemical imbalance there. But just as an alcoholic needs to seek help for himself and his unacceptable behavior, so does a person with mental problems. It's an illness that can be treated, just like any other, but he needs to take the first step. Until he does, stop the enabling, the coddling, because that's what it is. There's tortured souls everywhere. Things are tough all over. But that's no excuse for him not to do something about his issues other than wallow in them and drag his loved ones down. Doesnt mean you don't love him,but the old cliche is true. You have to love you more. When you see him this time, before you leave set him down and tell him nicely but seriously "look I love you, but you are draining me. I don't think I'm equipped to help you with this because I think you may be bi polar"...and then explain that it's really a pretty easily fixed chemical Imbalance. Then how if he values the relationship, he'll try treatment. I wish you the best of luck! I think herbs are great in some instances, but not this one. Sometimes bipolar people that get left unchecked really do the worst to themselves, so it's very important he goes. It's not something to mess around with. Good luck and bless you guys.
  2. For lovers of resins, spice, sandalwood and Majmua, this is a dream come true! It's dark, certainly, but there's something about it that calls to be worn on a summer night. It makes me reminisce about 'the good old days'. Summer's of my teens and 20's. I don't know why exactly, but it has a strong pull that way. Makes me think of music festivals, pool parties, camping and drinking and staying up all night. Eating a big greasy breakfast at the mom and pop diner the next day. The drive in. And it's so weird how those days work. There's never an official 'last day' of your youth. No goodbye. You just realize one day, 'hey I'm a grown up now. The songs I used to hear in high school are on the oldies station. What the hell happened??". So, this scent strongly brings back those days to me. It's a happy thing, but bittersweet. As much as I love it it's very cerebral. It fits a very specific mood. As far as the scent, it's a beautiful take on the Witch Shop theme. Magical, deep incense, chewy patch, syrupy Amber, deep golden brown. The thing that takes it to a whole 'nother level is the vanilla cream! A resin scent spiked with vanilla cream? What a wonder! It works a treat, Mara has done it again. This one really flew under the radar, I think. It's underrated. Could sell this as a niche scent and charge a hundred bucks for it and people would clamoring in the streets for it. Gorgeous stuff. Lasting power and sillage are both fantastic. If you come across a bottle, I highly recommend giving it a try! ETA: smelling the drydown now, and it reminds me a lot of Shalimar without the leather!
  3. These are gorgeous! And we get a Bowie Reference too?! ROCK ON!!
  4. Had to pop in to say I wore this last night layered with Sweet Pea Fairy cake and not only was the combo incredible, but the Iris lasted until this morning! Powerful stuff!
  5. Three Flowers Brilliantine is sold at my meijers. We are lucky to have a Hispanic toiletry section in ours. It does indeed smell a lot like Lannam/Murray Florida water. I'm interested in this one. I assume it's kinda like Happy Water too then. Sans phero. ETA-saw the Remind me Again comment. Wow that's awesome! I really want to try this now.
  6. This has aged so beautifully. The sandalwood especially, it's gone all deeply mellow and creamy. And it lasts and lasts. I put it on this morning and I'm still catching lovely creamy whiffs at 7:00 pm. Throws like a beast too. Good stuff!
  7. Popularity Potion I imagine would be a good one. And welcome!
  8. Welcome! I don't get selfies often, but I do every time with Super Sexy for Women. It makes me feel confident, clear minded and driven. I like it! Good luck!
  9. Kbudish is a regular! Or rather a returner? She used to post a lot back in 2009-10. But I agree, there IS no beating Love Potions customer service. I've never seen someone as concerned about her customers as Mara, ever! She's even called me personally regarding a few things at different times. She really lets you know she cares. An amazing lady and beautiful company!
  10. Me too! I'm surprised it's in the women's forum though! I figured this would be unisex all day! Must be that coconut. Is this a bit like Blessing 2015 at all? I don't imagine it's as complex, but I'm curious about the coconut/resin mix. Sounds dreamy!
  11. Hi Julygirl!! We missed you! Welcome back!
  12. I wrote a list of some things down after checking the Perfumerie, but my kids asleep in my lap so I'll have to get it in the morning. However, the major one I think you should get is Liquid Mercury. It's in the Perfumerie under 'S' for spell oils 2015. It's a communication potion, so that you can clearly and concisely get your message through to your doctor. I use an older variation and it's really good stuff. A couple others off the top of my head are Scented Dominance and Nox with Teddy BB. Both for personal power. Also Cry Havoc for Courage/Commanding. I don't know if your doc intimidates you, but if he does that would be a good one. I'm honestly not much of a phero gal anymore, I tend to think scent magic and intent are stronger honestly, but whatever makes you feel the most confident is best for you. I wouldn't pull out anything too sexual myself in this particular situation, and I'm sure Stacy gave you good advice in that arena. She knows her stuff a lot better than I do when it comes to the pheros. Have a good night and I'll check in tomorrow!
  13. Welp, Billi what you need is a spell oil. The old Sorceress would have been perfect but it's not around anymore. It also had dominance phero in it..got anything with that? I think Communication Potion would be good stuff here, it's what I wear to doctors. Let me take a look at what is still available in the shop and I'll come post again. You might not get it in time for this appointment, but you'd have it for the future. And I feel your pain. FINALLY after years of doctors screwin around, I found a wonderful Doctor who actually gave me an MRI and got to the bottom of my back pain. She found two slipped discs and osteoarthritis in my spine. Before her, I had a hell of a time. I mean honestly, I think it largely depends on how good your doctor is. Even spell oils can only go so far. If your not happy with your treatment, keep searching till you are. I'll be back!
  14. Sooooo, what have you acquired from LP so far?
  15. I'm sad I missed out on Mel's Creamy Iris!! Seriously bummed that slipped by me.
  16. I love it too Celrynna! I have about half a bottle left and I wear it when I really need a boost. I don't ever want to run out!! I'm amazed at how much punch this stuff has for such a sweet/sorta light feeling perfume. It's really got some panache, and it lasts all day. It's aged divinely too! Thanks for making this, it's one of the best PE's of all time!
  17. So this one was remade? We're spices added to it? Just curious. The original is one I made for my roommate. Neroli, tonka and Amber, but sometimes I felt like there was black pepper in there somewhere too. I assume if it was remade the variations of notes would be different. I know Sugared Darkness was remade but this slipped by me somehow. I'd be interested to see what it's like. Eta: I think the neroli might be what's spicy in the old one. The Amber is super powdery and the tonka is pulling deep vanilla on me.
  18. It's a note considered a 'fantasy' note in perfumery terms. The actual flower is scentless, according to what I just pulled off Fragrantica. The fragrance note is based on the idea of what the flower would smell like. Though if Mara says it's used for tea, I imagine some part of the plant has a scent. Not sure if an EO exists for it though.
  19. Liz, it's high time you do another patchouli scent. Please??! It's bloody well sleeting outside here in Michigan today, and so I decided to wear something decidedly warming and thick just now after a hot shower. I hadn't worn this one in quite some time, but I knew it was a heavy hitter and sounded worth a spin. Let me just say this is niche quality stuff here. I know people on one of my other perfume forums who, if we're gonna call a spade a spade, are total snobs about perfume. All the things they post cost 100 dollars or more. Hey, I love that stuff too, I love all kinds of perfume, but some of these folks look down they're noses at any drugstore scent, indie oil, ect ect. I think if you gave them Lizzy's Tizzy and told them it was a Serge Lutens, they'd be singing its praises all across the board! This feels very 'rich' to me, in that the notes are (must be!) naturally derived. I know that the civet is a synthetic, but it's a damn good one. Don't judge it by its liquid state either. It's one of those 'tightly bound' perfumes that needs the heat of your skin to unfold. When it opens, it's a bit of an orange flavored molasses concoction. I'm not a fan of the opening honestly, but give it a minute, and the most sumptuous, leathery patchouli emerges, intense and yet mellow. There's light spice from the ginger, just a tickling sensation really, and it becomes one with the patch. I smell civet, and I adore it. Hours in and the civet becomes powdery, giving the whole thing a vintage vibe, along the lines of Tabu. Also, I could swear there's more to this. My nose smells the distinct cola edge of frankincense and a bouquet of resins. Maybe it's just a very special patchouli doing this, but I think there's more. Either way? This is a gem, an overlooked, underrated gem. It's loud, it's bossy, it's not for everyone. It's definitely for ME! It's godd@mn beautiful! Thanks Liz and Mara!
  20. I'm interested in a sample of that one first. Sounds perhaps light...I would like to try this incarnation of New as well. I can see the face in Morning Star now, I think. They are all profiles right? Elara is really cool!
  21. Went with this one today. It hasn't aged for that long, but it still feels rounder to me this time. A bit deeper overall, particularly the amber and patch notes. The sillage seems to be better too now. Also, this is a beautiful blender for anything rose based. I've worn it with a few different roses both bright(Lush Rose Jam) and dark (JHAG Lady Vengeance) and it really added something special to them! Lovely on its own too of course.
