  1. So hey, I bought this cause it really piques my interest when something is sort of a 'rarity'. Iris is such an essential note in so very MANY classic perfumes. It is what gives the 'powdery' quality to perfumes that your moms and grandma's wore;like Shalimar,L'Heure Bleu,Samsara,Chanel 5, Miss Dior, and the list goes on and on. It's important to note that oakmoss lends a powdery air too, but Iris is more 'ghostly' and cooler where oakmoss is a bit warmer and green. Both are often found in chypres, but oakmoss is essential to them. Anyways, this is a delightful variant on Iris! I'm surprised it isn't more popular! If I had to compare it to a different flower, I would say it's similar to violet. Its sweet, powdery and has that whole 'vintage makeup' lipstick or compact kind of vibe. It's quite girly here with the pink sugar, which sweetens it up and takes it out of gender neutral territory as well as giving it that famous LP sugar 'sparkle' that we've all come to know and love. I'd say if you enjoy vintage scents, sweet old fashioned flowers, innocent things from a bygone time, violets, or even just girly twirly types of scents, give this a try. I don't mean to make it sound so old that it can't still be enjoyed. Luten's Silver Iris is a modern masterpiece and the pink sugar here brings my beloved Iris right into 2015! But it still has that old school charm about it, captures your heart, it's lovely! I've had it on about three hours now and it's still going strong, so for one of these sugareds, I'd say it has pretty good staying power and nice sillage too! Give Iris a try, I think many here will really enjoy it!
  2. I reckon it's not gonna be enough to do any damage. I mean, you only apply them to certain points,it's not any more dangerous than just getting a mouthful of your perfume. I know it's happened to me with guys cologne! It doesn't taste too swift but I wouldn't worry about any real harm. It's not like she's doing shots of the stuff! Have fun!

    Hi!

Yay! Welcome! I love your forum name. I realize it probably references the state, but it makes me think of a play on Indiana Jones. I think you'll love your sampler! The scents here are my favorite part of the LP experience, personally. Pheros are nice too, but Mara & John's fragrances are wearable art! Don't hide in the corner too long, this is quite a friendly place!
  4. Hey Ivy! nice to see you lady! Everyone is waiting with baited breath for the WEENIES!! Any day now guys!
  5. And two years later, I say THANKS DD! Geez, this stuff is like a dear old friend. I'm wearing it tonight. Something interesting has happened; I don't know what stargazer lily is supposed to smell like, but I feel like there's a distinctly woody note in here now. Smells like cedar, it's quite present too. That, and the baby powder comparison mentioned above, I'm getting it too. Like blueberry candy, dusted with baby powder, in an open cedar chest. Such an odd combination but it smells really nice! I like how this has aged, better than I liked it new! It lasts a really long time too, nice and strong just how I like em. Gonna layer some Sugared Lemons over this and prepare to have my mind blown!
  6. I'm all about the Tonka Tobaccum too! I think it should be a permanent men's scent, like Snoopy mentioned elsewhere.
  7. Ha! I actually made some new friends when I wore it last night too! We stopped to let Elena see a puppy, and ended up meeting the COOLEST couple! They are my age, live right down the street from me, and have verrrry similar opinions on the dreaded religion and politics as I do (rare around here cause this is the Bible Belt of the Midwest)..in short, they are rad, super open minded, and they chatted me up big time! They also have kids, a little bigger than Lena but whatever. We're going over there to visit tomorrow so Lena can see a new litter of kittens they have. This is pretty big for me, cause I have hardly any friends out here so far, and we hit it off immediately. Must be the LFM! orrrr, the bat..or both! I need to scope the scent itself out a bit more though. I didn't get any licorice root and I want to. Hardly any black musk either. This was loads of fresh soil and earthy banyan on me, but I wasn't paying strict enough attention to the dry down either cause I washed it off before bed. So I'll try it again and see what 'develops' (yuk yuk)
  8. This is beautiful. It really does smell very familiar to me, as a whole...of course I'm familiar with the notes, but the way they are put together is mastery. I think it's safe to say that nothing in here dominates over the others. It does open up more vanillic with benzoin, spend time in the middle with the sweet cola edge of frankincense and the delicious earth of patch, and the base is dry and woody/sweet from sandalwood. It does morph, but nothing 'goes away' to be replaced by the others, they just sort of swirl around each other in a haunting, ancient tableau. The oil itself is actually a bit sticky on my skin. Not in a bothersome way, just a touch from the resins. It is lighter than expected, but in time this will deepen and meld even more, I'm sure it will reach a level of ecstasy that some may find hard to handle! But man, this is spellbinding. Love it! Will probably report back in 6 months to a year and report on its aged state. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews on this! Also kinda surprised it's in the women's section. This one is totally unisex.
  9. Dudes!!! I gotta tell you something cool. I just tried this on, want to test it while taking Lena for our evening stroll...well, no sh1t!! As SOON as we came around the front of our house, I saw a BAT!! For true! I've only seen them around here a couple times and never this early. Neat!!! I'll come back to review soon!
  10. Luna, it's no secret that you write wonderful descriptions and stories to go with the scents here, but I'm particularly fond of your story for this! It's fantastic! I also know that there's a spot in the women's section with reviews on this, but the men's forum needs more,as Beccah stated yesterday. May I make a suggestion that the uni's review threads be merged/moved over here? Anyway, this is awesome! This kind of scent is totally my thing from top to bottom! It opens VERY earthy. Moist, loamy, healthy black soil just teeming with nutrients. It's spot on with nature. There's also WOOD. Big Wood (ha!), there is though! Mostly sandalwood, maybe some oud? Cashmeran?? I think some cedar too. It's definitely right up front going head to head with the soil. You can sense the other notes under this, but they don't really emerge on me till after about half an hour. Then, unnnh. This delicious majmua appears, and it's sweeet, and Champa comes in and it's smoky! It's soooo damn yummy you guys! All this dimension! Majmua on its own is super multi faceted, so when you put it with so many other things, it makes the whole thing super intriguing and alive. The earth backs down but doesn't leave, and the wood sticks around too. The wood is a major player, and it's just supreme! I love love love this one,to bits! And it lasts. I put it on at about 8 am, it's 4:30 and I'm still very much catching whisps of scent on myself when I move. That's another thing I love, smelling perfume on myself all day. Doesn't happen enough. Lovely!! Wonderful job!!
  11. I'm glad you had a great weekend! Rough start, maybe, but it sounds like it all smoothed right out!
  12. I got my awesome happy box!! I want to thank you both, Mara & John, not only for the sale but also for sharing your art with us! Carrying your scents on our skin is like being in on some kind of divine secret. I'm always amazed that something as inconspicuous as a roll on oil can transport us to another land, another time, another version of ourselves as 'characters' in some grand design that your perfumes plot out for us with they're intricate scents. Such a small thing holds so much power! It alters our moods, it takes us 'there'. It IS ART and no doubt admirable! I'm so grateful to be one of the lucky ones that knows of this magical place and its two master perfumers. I love a lot of different kinds of perfumes from high street to drugstore, vintage to artisan , and you guys are my hands down favorite house of all. Thanks again for sharing it all with us! We LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
  13. It's interesting to read how much this one varies on different skins. On mine, it opens up very 'concentrated' ..sort of medicinal, like all the notes are there but intensified into a tight ball, bursting at the seams. It IS smoky, not like meat for me thank goodness, but like a light vanilla incense smoke. When it unfolds, which takes hours and hours, it goes through two distinct phases, but the incense smoke stays throughout the whole experience. First, a buttery rich vanilla, absolutely yellow with extract and butter, morphing into a sugared, creamy yellow floral. Not green on me, yellow all the way. Wafting around all day is that delicious smoke, which I know this doesn't 'have', so I'm not sure what's responsible. Amber maybe? I dunno. All I know is that I really like this one. It's a sugar bomb, through and through. I love how it unfolds bit by bit like unfolding a warm creamy golden sheet of fondant or something (not literally, visually). I love how lasting it is and how I can smell it on MYSELF all day (I love that about a great scent, the whole 'getting used to your own scent' thing is for the birds.) I want to smell it, and here I do, allllll day long. Yummy!
  14. Your about to be in heaven! LPs Weenies are the best!! ALWAYS! And yeah, you with your autumn penchant? Shooot, be prepared to lose a good chunk of your bank account. at least you'll smell good doing it!
  15. Thanks! And thanks for reminding me of The Craft. I'm writing down a roster of movies to watch during fall now!
  16. Oh man, The Craft!! Suh-weet! I love that movie. I'm Wilhemena W. Witchipoo now, haha! Fitting for the convo.
  17. Just so's you guys know, if you want to read more reviews for this, there's a thread in the women's section too. Not trying to be busy or detract from this thread, but there aren't many reviews here, and there's more over there, just figured it might be helpful for someone else in the future.
  18. Woah that's gone ALREADY?! The NEW one? Anything else gone or endangered in the NRs?
  19. Hm, at first this one IS pretty girly. As mentioned, the top notes are a very sweet, very powdery Parma violet with lots of fluffy oakmoss, and it is pretty and feminine in that stage. After it's been on about an hour though, the sandalwood comes along and mans things up a bit. It really doesn't smell like Velvet Moss at all to me, the violet here is much sweeter and brighter. In the dry down though, it's quite unisex and I can definitely see a man enjoying it(not that I even really feel like perfumes should be gender specific anyway, but I get why people do). I'm not really feeling much Amber in here, although it does last a good amount of time and there's a vaugely musky thing happening deep into the dry down(three hour mark) that's probably it. For me personally, I really like it! I love violets and sandalwood and big thanks to McCreepers for sending her sample along to me!
  20. Cool! BC, you know I'll be all over that action! This sounds like one of those suuuper unique natural ones like Liquid Mystery,Sea Find, ect. More of a nature scent though...like a Jasmine Rain vibe, but its own thing. Btw, sorry in advance for thread jacking, but I haven't seen Stormey. She good?
  21. Mannn..this sounds VERY unique and cool. I'm inclined to think your a master PE creator after Mojo too! Is this all gone? I bet it's all gone.

    Anthea

I'm getting this in the mail soon, FB, so before I do a full review, I'll wait till full slather. I DID however get a partial sample off the lovely BV, and I'm pretty sure that the product is Jergen's All Purpose face cream. It is still in production, but really hard to find. It IS similar to the old Ponds, and when sniffed from a distance,Nivea. But I'm weirdly familiar with vintage makeup/skincare/perfume & I'd pretty much bet money on Jergen's. Also similar to the old Avon Vita Moist & Nutura, but not on 'the nose'. https://img1.etsystatic.com/000/0/6753673/il_570xN.343080685.jpg Check this out. I dunno how to link ETA: I did it!! IT LINKED!!!
  23. Also Cocamama. Freakishly awesome and underrated!
  24. I said it before, awhile ago, and I'll say it again now: Sorceress! The guys got a revamp of Sorcerer, but no Sorceress for girls. If it was an SG potion and that has been said, I apologize. I just really really love the scent of that one! THAT is sexed up buttercream to me, where LP Black is resin dipped leather jacket rolled in brown sugar (though I am getting it back, so I'll see how I feel about it these days, about three years later!).
  25. I know! My prayers were answered!! And yeah, the new version is over in the men's review thread.
