  1. katz: do you need a crown? (Well, it's the best I could do. ) Nice Gibson reference.
  2. Unfortunately, as Mara states in this thread, they can't make it anymore.
  3. It's a very classic lovely Nag Champa blend, I think, but somewhat less powdery which I'm attributing to the sugaring. Whenever I have it on I feel like I should be wearing something gauzy and flowing with tiny bells and sequins.
  4. Definitely! I think it's my favorite component because it's so unlike most accords that I've encountered previously.
  5. Right from the vial, for me, this is a lovely resin-based musk, just the kind of thing I enjoy. I don't really get any vanilla - even unsweetened (like black vanilla, for example) - but it may come out later in the drydown. Around the edges is a touch of flowery attar. This wears close to my skin like PG Dominance does, I noticed, so I'm thinking that someone would have to be right in my personal space to be affected by the DYG. I'm not getting a reaction myself but I attribute that to the migraine I woke up with, ugh. *edit* I do get just a hint of vanilla in the final drydown, sort of floating above the phero base. Hopefully I'll get more vanilla with aging.
  6. Ah...thanks for elaborating. Maybe my skin tends to amp sweetness (I've never really noticed that, but it could be) because in the drydown I'm still getting all the things I love about Super, or maybe it's just that my whole Pavlovian relationship to it is such that my brain is insisting it smells exactly the same.
  7. Okay, here's a funny thing: So I had given one of my split samples (when M&D ran out of regular trial vials and we got some samples split between two small vials) of PB Super to my co-worker Wesley and he said he would give it a try (he liked the way it smelled) so just now he was at my desk and I held up my wrist. He took a whiff and said, "Hey, that smells really nice, it smells like the one you gave me." so I explained the difference and I said, "Now you too could smell this awesome!" I said, "C'mon big guy, be a man and give this a shot!" (He already has the website address...one of these days I know he's gonna break down and just order it himself, heh.)
  8. I too received my latest order today and since I'm the love-to-smell-like-a-guy girlie I thought I'd start this one (although I bet some of you can't resist trying this yourselves!). I will say that if you love the scent of PB Super then this will not disappoint, it smells exactly the same, BUT of course the difference is the lavender. Mara: is it a top note or a heart note? It seems like a top note to me because it kind of floats above the scent, and definitely does give it a "crisp" impression when I sniff. In the vial it's very prevalent, with that familiar herbal feel, but once applied it takes on that cool characteristic. If I go by the ambient sillage from my wrists it's all pure Super. So it's not a sweet lavender and not entirely herbal, it's more lavender water, I want to say? But it also reminds me of the type of mint that actually smells like lavender. If you and/or your XYs love PB Super then you need to get this! Because sure, it's always nice to have some chemical advantage with the pheromones, but nothing is better (IMO) than the joy of a good scent and this, my fellow LP addicts, is a good scent. PS: for me, the lavender note lasts about 90 minutes and then it's back to the oh-so-incredible Super.
  9. It's funny, usually I can smell the pheros after drydown, when the scent begins to fade on me, but PG Super is the only one where the opposite happens: I smell the SS blend right from the outset and the actual scent (very soft) after drydown. Repeated use has only reinforced this impression. I'm sad because I want to smell what you do, Mara!
  10. I had one of those moments the other day when I counted my bottles of Arcana. I have twenty (all different). Now multiply that by five companies and I wondered if I should find a support group.
  11. Heh, I have a personal deity I call "the Fortune Cookie God" and whenever I receive a fortune I always meditate on it as to how it applies to me. The most interesting one I've received in the past year so or read Ask Your Mom....which is always good advice, if you think about the concept of Mom in the relational sense. I'm hoping to be able to give some first impressions in a couple days as well!
  12. Got another email from my friend Bob, who says PB Super appears to have an effect on everyone he knows, even males. Not like that, of course, but just that they tend to be friendlier, which I also attribute to the androstadienone. But he's loving the effect it has on his various girlfriends, in that he has to pry them off of his neck! It seems to be working the way it should in terms of sexual attraction, but I cracked up at some of his comments like, "Even my fascist boss is nice to me when I wear this stuff!"
  13. In my experience, EST works wonders with the type of guy who has a nuturing side but may not get to express it normally. It brings down the barriers. It used to turn my OTL into a total softie (he would get this really glazed expression on his face which told me it was working)...which kinda led me to believe he had a pregnancy fetish he didn't know about, lol.
  14. Do you even have to ask? You get your SO addicted just like the rest of us!
  15. Yes ma'am, and I can't wait to try UN...I know it's on its' way!
  16. I've spent some time really pondering why I have such a Pavlovian response to PB Super even just on my own (i.e. if I catch even a slight whiff of it from the bottle I go ga-ga) and after doing some reading it seems androstadienone has an apparent euphoric affect on women akin to certain controlled substances. So even with the addition of male-dominant pheros I think the AND, because it's the predominant ingredient, just instantly rewires my brain into happy feelgood funtime. So in combination with the fragrance itself means PB Super is...liquid addiction. Hey...that might make a good name for a perfume, hmm?
  17. I guess it's the cinnamon in it, but LP Red always reminds me of French Toast, heh. I mean, it's utterly delicious but it threw me for a loop the first time I tried it. And it wears very close to my skin, so I tended to save it for those more intimate occasions, heh...UNTIL I tried layering it with LP Black. I had done a lot of layering experiments with LP Black because as much as I loved it, it had this weird tendency to turn on me in the drydown. But when those two came together, I could hear angels singing. But rock angels, like, with heavenly guitars and stuff. SO FREAKIN SEXY! An OTP of fragrance, if you will. But I'm envious of you hot mamas who can wear LP Red alone and get that famous reaction from the XYs. I have to agree though - the LP base, the LP line - that's an entry for the Hall Of Fame, most definitely!

I received a trial vial of the "stronger" version and it does have that great exotic feel to it, but oddly enough it reminds me primarily of Nag Champa. Like, I can't really sense anything else in the blend. But I like incense-based blends, especially when they feel true to me, as if I'm actually burning incense rather than wearing a scent.

    Dream Lover

Eek, I can't believe I never chimed in on this one, it's one of my favorites! I'm not much of a floral person but I really like cotton blossom because it has such a "friendly" smell to it, I guess, it's very comforting. So I like that it's the first thing I smell on my skin (in the vial the neroli is more obvious). It dries down to a powdery veil, sweet but not overly so, just very gentle and fresh. It's a snuggle kind of scent with me, and I'm surprised that I bonded with such a subtle scent, but it's always the surprises which make the adventure of perfumery!

    Flapper

Awww...I love it when guys have that kind of reaction. My OTL (one true love) said the same thing about the original Monsieur Balmain; his dad used to wear it and when he was a teenager he couldn't resist trying it himself, and now he forever associates that scent with happiness (actually, pathos might be a better description since it was discontinued).
  21. Yeah, oddly enough I get a hairspray type of thing once it's fading, which is exactly what Elementary did on me too. I'm thinking it has something to do with the alcoholic notes (but luckily I don't get that from Tea and Strumpets).
  22. The concept for this cracked me up (I love whimsical ideas) though I would have said it wasn't my thing, but I received a small sample in one of my orders, so here we go, whoo doggies! In the vial I get the cherry pie and the spumante, there's a sweet playful kind of quality to it. In the wet stage I can smell the mesquite smoke and the florals, I'm not adverse to a smoky floral...but on drydown it's mostly lilac on me, with a hint of the geranium. Not really for me, but I'm thinking my mom might like it, she loves florals.
  23. Well I'm game to try the Cougar rebrew...although my finances are insisting I wait until next month (so please, y'all, don't buy it all up at once!).
  24. Hopefully I'll get my order by midweek...I can't wait!
  25. I received a trial vial of this in my last order and although I wondered if I was tempting fate by trying to wear the male Dominance mix I really wanted to give it a whirl. Yikes...turns out that while I LOVE the Super Sexy male mix, the Dominance one gives me a major headache. On the other hand, the smell of this blend is so classic male cologne it's like a scent trigger all by itself...I think the pheromones actually reinforce it. Now I know they put pheros in commercial-based men's scents, but PB Dominance seems to totally recreate that vibe perfectly. Now I just have to decide which of my boy-friends is worthy of such a gift.
