  1. Beccah I have thought of you many times as I've dealt with my MIL...you have a doozy of your own (Ex)
  2. I wonder why when I wear LAM and MRF it is completely obvious that they are hitting my HB....many of the other scents/UNs I wear either take time to work or I'm guessing they are working. Must be something that just lights his olfactories on fire.
  3. Yes I am approaching this little trip with an open mind (not excitement... just can't manage that right now) I have decided to run up to Lowe's and get a new (keyed) lock handle for my closet. That will help alleviate some of the snooping worry while I'm on the road (and if I'm going to relax, this would be paramount). I thought I was close to my MIL, but earlier this year I discovered that it was all an act on her part. She doesn't even know that I know. After 19+ years I feel like a duped fool, but I know my heart was in the right place when I thought our relationship was authentic, so no regrets, just assiduous from here on out. I will bump Astro thread when I can - perhaps later this eve. I keep thinking of Jack Nicholson when I pick up this bottle of DOM - and this is HIS line in the movie, not my personal proclamation, BTW.
  4. Blackcat how do you pronounce your forum rank? It's almost as bad as the Chtulhu stuff we just dealt with...
  5. OK now I am totally jealous. My hits seem lame compared to Maroons!
  6. I'm new to MRF - just got it in my last delivery - so this was it's maiden voyage. Interesting point about the UN... I will keep that in mind. Thanks for commenting A1978... I find it all helps me especially when I'm trying a new thing here! Sometimes I wish MY guy would leave, LOL. Guess it's either feast or famine. He's really in the doghouse (as I mentioned) these days, plus his mother is with us for another 2 weeks so I'm not exactly on his team right now!
  7. Yes I would love that... I do need to stay on top of my transit forecast chart better. This year was supposed to be a wild ride for me and so far it's living up to that. My HB is currently taking Low-T shots so I guess I need to read up a bit... not sure if adding this would be ok. Is it just an aphrodisiac for men? Lord knows I'm so exhausted these days that I wish there was a tea that might help me out! Of course I'm only through week ONE of my MIL's 3 week extended-stay... it would take a lot of herbs to get me thinking romance these days, LOL. HB wants me to join him on a biz trip next week as a 5 day 'second honeymoon' (no, I'm not excited about leaving my MIL alone in the house to snoop to her hearts content for 5 days unemcumbered) but now you know why I had all the questions about the Dirty Old Man scent... if I"m going to experiment I guess now's the time!
  8. Now I know what the fuss is all about this is an incredible multi-purpose combustible! I had two blatant 'hits' when wearing it. I was in NM Last Call just trying on sunglasses and one of the sales women walked by, got about 20 feet from me, turned and bellowed across the store "God! you smell GREAT!" I turned and looked around - not really sure if she was talking about me (although I make it a point now to carefully choose my LP of the day as carefully as I choose my shoes!) She was still staring at me, started to chuckle and said "Yes... I AM referring to you!" She walked over and I told her about my new found LP Boutique of LUV and she couldn't wait to check the site out. Since confession is good for the soul (or so my Catholic upbringing would have me believe) I'm confessing that the little devil on my shoulder was there the entire time saying "Don't tell her! That's just more competition!" But then I thought, helping Mara has got to be good karma! THEN, I get home and HB (who still resides in the doghouse for some behavior of late) was SO uneasy around me... like he wanted IT so bad... trying to be nicey-nice and pretending to be interested in my day (Come on people - I've been married nearly 20 years. He is NEVER interested in my day.) I kept walking around the house - kitchen, living room, bedrooms... tidying up. HB kept following me pretending to "need" to be in the same room for something and inching closer to me... until I walk out of the room and the game starts again. I know it was MRF - it was getting to him and he had NO clue what web he was trapped in. I'm going to make him sweat a little longer (DENIED!) MRF and LAM original are like bait for him - those two seem to make him go all DIH around me (NOTE: I mean individually of course!)
  9. That's great Halo! I'm hit and miss with what patchouli's I can tolerate in the many scents I've managed to try. This sounds so good. I'm hoping the patch won't move front and center - as it does sometimes on me - instead of the vanilla or strawberry. I was wondering about the amber too... I'm finding I can hit or miss depending on how dark it is.
  10. Fascinating. I'm always intrigued by some of the more unusual names given to herbs and such, and wonder about the person who actually discovered and named the species. Which begs the question, what about this weed inspired the name "Horny Goat"? Guess I need to look at a photo and maybe it will be obvious... either that or the botanist has a sense of humor ETA: Curiosity got the best of me. From Wikipedia: "According to legend, this property was discovered by a Chinese goatherder who noticed sexual activity in his flock after they ate the weed." A pretty blossom, not overtly sexual I suppose, LOL. Ahh the things one will learn here in the halls of LPMP...

    Ruby Red

On application this is juicy red berry, then something wicked stabs me in between the eyes. I *almost* give in to the temptation to wash it off because it is SO tortuous to my senses for a good 5-10min. If I can busy myself and get through 20-30 minutes, whatever the snarling beast is in the beginning (I think it must be the FMP combo ya'll refer to) is tempered by then, and what remains is a very pretty combo of warm berry and spice. Something drifts in and out that makes me immediately think of the holidays (probably the frank & myrrh) but it's very subtle. I can see this being suitable for wearing year-round - the fruitiness is very apropos for summer, but the spice can take it well into the fall and winter. I layer this with MLH and get great EFX from my kids. I think the sweet fruity is enticing to them, but they also get the 'mom is in charge' message.
  12. As you point out here Katz, I would think much of this (whether to use a carrier/buffer, etc.) depends on the apparatus doing the heating, and if it's relatively gentle heat or can get very hot. I have an ultrasonic diffuser that disperses essential oils really well (without heat) so I think I may try this method too for comparison. I think Mara warned about toxicity of pheros being burned (as in a candle flame) but would very high indirect heat be a cause for concern?? Of course I doubt if I would waste a good boosted scent for a room anyway. I think I'll defer to Mara's phero wax melts if I want to try that. I remember "back in the day" (before the popularity of scented candles and LONG before reed diffusers!) it was suggested to put a few drops of scented oils on light bulbs to scent a room. I even remember those cardboard-y type "rings" designed to "sit" atop a lightbulb and you put drops of oil on it. How we didn't burn our houses down is a miracle. O my goodness I have derailed this Ilori train waay off topic. I'm sure there's another forum I need to frequent to muse over home fragrance "apparati" LOL... And yes Halo, I agree, Katz definitely knows her stuff too. Great info. TY Katz
  13. Well I am not arguing at all with your gut or any other part of you for that matter... you do know your stuff. Case in point, I ordered the Chocolate Almond Creme Wax Melt (unfortunately I just ordered ONE) and OMG it is SO incredible. I had read your post about that one and decided to try it. Now I just wish I had bought out the lot, LOL. And well, there's LFN, BB, MLH among the many others you led me to, so I will not waste my time trying to find an unscented wax cube to blend it with. I think I *need* Ilori in a spray, too, so getting a few samples to boot for the oil burner just makes sense (combining shipping and all, LOL, I can now justify anything when it comes to LPMP) Ilori is one of those scents that I need to watch closely because it's a sleeper favorite of mine... I keep going more and more to it. Has anyone tried an aroma diffuser or ultrasonic humidifier for diffusing oils? I know you can use essential oils in them so I would *think* it would work.

    Orangzipan

Nutrix... did you get this in RB or spray? Just curious if the spray would actually have been a better choice for me.
  15. Oh duh. That makes perfect sense. Thanks Halo I guess that holds true for a lot of great scents that I'd love to have in my home. Do you suggest adding to some unscented wax to help it last longer in the burner?
  16. I'm almost afraid to ask where I'd aquire something like that!
  17. I wish I could get cucumber in this one... I'm sure it is mixed in there somewhere, but it never does assert itself. This scent has changed for me since it first arrived. It's actually gotten more balanced - I've always really enjoyed it, but there was something "pointy" at the (wet) beginning that ultimately settled down. Now when I put it on it pretty much is the same throughout it's wear. UPDATE: July 14 This one gets better and better as it 'ages' (although it still isn't old, per se) For the first time I got the cucumber scent on drydown, and every note in this scent just works so incredibly well together! It's become my favorite summer scent now that we are hitting triple-digits. Light and fruity enough to be refreshing, but it lasts a pretty long time too! This reminds me of a yummy summer cocktail with mysterious ingredients. SO different yet addictive in it's own right.
  18. This is SUCH a great scent. I'm sure I would love it on my SO and I will love wearing it. I wish it was in a wax melt too for that matter. I would love having my house smell like Ilori for a day. The musk and woods are tempered perfectly with the aquatic/floral. Le Wizard is really REALLY good at these unisex scents. I'm starting to actually look for his creations in the perfumerie as I'm pretty darn sure I will love them. I imagine this would be an awesome one to pair with a number of UNs... I'd love to know which ones the vets have boosted Ilori with and their experiences wearing it.
  19. I really like this scent but I DO smell the cops (I'm pretty sure, anyway!) And I'm so used to smelling the same stuff in MY (cop enhanced) scents that I'm not sure smelling this on my SO is going to float my boat?!? I guess I can get past that if I let him "dry down" sufficiently, right? LOL I think I must be in cop burnout... I now have a bunch of stuff with cops and I seem to be able to sniff it immediately. Funny because my very first LP was LP Red with cops... when I got it I thought "Gee, I don't smell anything that resembles that" (the description of what the copulins scent was). But now I can definitely pick up on it - I guess now 'I know what to smell for'. Or maybe the cop scent in DOM ISN'T there for me?? Am I just now getting this? I guess I can just tell him "Here- go rub this on and stand naked under the ceiling fan until I come get you. Just stay downwind from me." By then the smell will have blended with his chem, right?
  20. GREAT review Anon2F!!! I have RS in oil as well - and I also have some of Mara's little sprays so I'm going to convert it as you did and give it a try. RS just recently went on the GGG site. It was not long after I joined LP and I was so happy to snag one because I think it is a great all-around scent. You never know... it may show up for one last hurrah on AF so you may get the chance again for a FB. Or I'll watch the trades for ya... I'm going to want another one anyway. BTW, I love the the "wing-ma'am" term
  21. Yay Luna! I was secretly hoping you'd see this and come through. I always learn so much from you about deez tings...TY
  22. This one gets better and better as it ages... and I find it's lasting longer if I moisturize really well before applying it. I'm starting to really get the cherry/apricot vibe upon application. Well, OK, I know the cherry I'm getting is actually the almond, which makes just about as much sense to me as up is down or left is right. I know Luna could explain it logically - I know I remember a post where she went in detail about how our olfactory system connects those two... I just can't find it! I guess since I LOVE almond, and LOVE cherry it becomes a win-win for me so why should I care???

    Orangzipan

I absolutely LOVE almond and orange... I covet my little spray sampler of Orange Almond Hydrating Water too! I was secretly hoping that's what this would be - a stronger version of OAHW. Or at least marzipan with orange zest. But all my skin seems to do is suck up every bit of sweetness and leave me with the sandalwood and nutmeg! I can't even find any leftover vanilla and my skin usually lets that hang around for awhile. I may have to let this one age a bit. I'd love to hear if anyone else has revisited Orangzipan with success!

    Totem: Tiger

I actually love this one now... but I didn't at first! My skin really amps the cypress and balsam (probably the vetiver and cedar too but I'm still learning to decipher individual notes effectively!)... I typically like green scents but this one was face down in the grass with a hangover kind of green for me. Not pretty. I revisited it and while it definitely has a green layer to its aura, it really toned down and took a back seat to the fruit, carnation and spice notes. The label itself is a perfect visual for it... the little tiger (fruit/carnation/spice) asleep on the wooden log surrounded by fresh green grass. Thank goodness the tiger finally took control and showed nature who's boss. It is spicy and powerful with great staying power.
  25. This one was a "take my chances" buy and I'm SO glad I I nabbed it before it was gone. Wonderful fruit melange - I can't identify any specific fruits because it is all woven together so magnificently with the marshmallow root, coconut cream and cocoa butter. I wore this today with SWS and it's like the dynamic duo... the yummy scent lured people in ("WHAT are you wearing that smells so GOOD?!" was the common reaction) while the SWS commanded their attention beyond the olfactory stimuli! I'm not even a fan of Ambrosia Salad (I'd rather eat the fruits separately) but I'm certainly a fan of this recipe. Bravo Mara.
