  1. I have no idea in what amounts, nor in what order the notes were combined, but I think when I spoke with her I paired the apricot with the almond and then the coconuts with the cucumber. Four notes and Mara's fabu-magickalness! BTW, Mara, I am going to try a sample of Vieux Carre. It sounds yummy.
  2. Oh, heavens no. Let me grab the list tonight and I'll post it here tomorrow.

    Wicked

Dang it..sweet little old church lady.. in a mauve frumpy hat. Boo hoo!
  4. Wearing this again today. The first whiff is of mecuricome, which any old timer will instantly associate with an initial and abrupt sting that made you want to slap whomever applied it. Of course, after the sting, healing was sure to follow ("It had better work miracles!"). Mercuricome was an elusively beautiful reddish golden-pink antiseptic. Due to the mercury it contained, the colours danced and slid around each other, positively glistening in the bottle. What always made the awful burn worth it was that the beautiful stain remained on the skin for days. There are only two other items I can think of that remind me of mercuricome..garnets,really fine garnets in low light capture the reddish golden hue and dance the light around the interior of the stone. Not pink enough, but the feeling is there. Czech Glass, yes, the right piece of Czech Glass can capture and hold the three colours in a sunbeam. But, I digress.. Moving back to the perfume itself: first, the healing whiff of mercuricome, letting me know this blasted cold will fade to a distant memory. Spring will come, working her magic to heal the garden. Then, the transformation, as the scent blooms. I am filled from head to toe with happiness! Cloves, sweet mother, cloves! If winter must reside a bit longer, let me be warmed by cloves. There is sandalwood and musk present, but those notes seem to provide a pillow into which the cloves nestle their round, wee heads. An hour later, the cloves are fading as the sandlewood comes forward a bit more. The cloves are present, but napping. All the notes play softly. I am cuddled beneath my grandmother's flowerbasket quilt watching the sun winking through winter clouds. I can make it until the snowdrops, helebores and crocus tell me it is safe to watch for spring's arrival.
  5. Do you need the notes? I think I still have them.
  6. If The Mistress so chooses.. StacyK, glad this was a big hit with people.
  7. Please tell me this is breezes from an English garden, warmed by the sun after a spring shower. Absolutely terrified of anything lily-type floral. Rose, if it goes more apple/less antique, is great. Once florals venture into the tenor section, I get a raging headache. I am hoping for fresh and clean with sheer musk standing in for the warmth of the sun.
  8. I bet the 'pine' some folks are picking up is the desert sage. My folks lived in The Catalina Mountains in Tucson, AZ for many years. If this scent is evocative of Tucson as the desert bursts into bloom, I have to try it. I miss their home, and the vibe (yes, I said vibe) with which it infuses you. The sun warms from the inside. The breezes dry the sweat instantly. The blue sky, the saguaro, the fairy dusters and ocatillo..the shades of green and yellow, red and pink..so beautiful. The sunsets are breathtaking! The wildflowers are so lush you can barely take a step for treading on one. The life in the desert is nothing short of a miracle, and high up in the mountains, you can see, nearly literally, forever. All that and the sound of wind and flutes caused by breezes traveling through holes in the cactus. Many times, we visited a botanic preserve called Tohono Chul, where prickly pear tea was the house beverage. I miss that little oasis in the desert. I miss the desert. (That's coming from an Indiana girl who lives for autumn and all that comes with it.) I know I have to try this one.
  9. I was absolutely terrified of the lotus. Miracle of miracles, this is wonderful on my skin. Light, fresh, aquatic (usually not something I can wear),sweet. Everything I was afraid would happen did not. No stabbed florals, nor the headache that often follows lotus and any sort of lily. Lovely.
  10. I get the very first cake I baked as a kid: vanilla lemon lime. I feel like an eight-year-old. I'm a little giggly about this one.
  11. Been wearing this for about an hour. After the initial vanilla marshmallow dry down, I get a faint whiff of anise, with sweet cream over the top. Lovely stuff all by itself for day or night. Relaxing scent for nighttime..all soft and nurturing.

    221B

Lady Victoria, I think we must have close to the same chemistry in our veins. Our honey issues, for one, are very much alike. I am so with you on 221B. Hit me not just as a "Oh, ahhh, sigh, I love this!" Hit me, BANG!, right In the brain! This is a thought-provoking, all in, no turning back scent. This is "THE WOMAN" in perfume form.
  13. Dang it! This one goes sharp and all the notes start fighting the way some jazz music sounds to me.. like all the instruments have been thrown, screeching, down the stairs. My silly skin.
  14. Mine was organza. There were two, one in pewter, and one in red. I'm using the red one for a Valentine's costume party Friday night. We're doing an Oscar party (a bit early, don't you think?). Hubby and I will be going as Cary Grant and Irene Dunne in The Awful Truth, OR as Nick and Nora Charles (William Powell and Myrna Loy) from the Thin Man movies. I am very fortunate to have kept in close touch with my old costume designer from my theatre days. He's given me a gorgeous bias-cut floral silk gown from the 1930s. Hubby is in a tux and ascot. Meanwhile, I'm screwing around with my hair, trying to do a traditional finger wave. Where is grandma Opie when I need her?!
  15. I was so excited that Knot arrived as one of sniffy bits. I'd wanted to try it, and now here it is! Thanks LPMP! Have to say, reminds me slightly, of the Hot and Humid Mara created for me last summer. It is lighter, and a bit more floral, but there is the softness, the apricot, all warm from the heat of the day. I love the dry down as this settles on my skin. It gives me a sense of security. It is an 'I know your secret' scent. It provides an aura that leaves me knowing I'd be comfortable in any setting, day or night, in any group of people. Really great scent.
  16. Just received an order today. The red bag is just slightly spectacular!
  17. Last night, I applied Sugared Oakmont and Teddy BB. "Sweet dreams are made of this."
  18. Oh.my...next month's releases. Help.
  19. Received a sample of Molly's Forest Retreat. I would absolutely run away to the spot this scent conjurs. Green yet conifer soft, earthy and cooling, a safe haven from the heat of the sun, but cozy and nestled into a favourite spot to hide from the 'too much' of civilisation. Exactly as a forest ought to feel. Well done!
  20. I do not get the Tabu feel. Could never wear it..something almost breath-stealng in that one. This scent does dry down well, but takes about 45 minutes to really settle on my skin. As I said, it took awhile for the green to settle, but trust in Mara to get it right.
  21. This makes me happy all by itself. Layered with almond, or cinnamon or vanilla velvet..be still my heart.
