  1. So excited to have you back, and eager to hear about how the move has been!
  2. WHEE! So glad to share the awesomeness! PS If you really want to blow your mind, add the teeniest squidge of Apparition...
  3. NuTrix, have you tried it with Cauldron Cake? I put them on side by side (without smooshing together) and let all that foodie fall goodness waft up and blend together in a little cloud right next to my skin.... UMMMM MUST GO PUT ON RIGHT NOW!
  4. I love those strong intuitive pulls. Let us know how it works!
  5. Mmmm, just put this on for the first time, and it's very nice! Initially much fruit, primarily apricot, but then I get the creamy ricotta gorgeous dessert vibe. The whole thing is subtle, sweet but not too sweet, and extremely yummy. It's very nice for a cold winter's night -- I am surprised, I thought I would want to be breaking out the heavy resins for this ice storm weather, but I am finding the more delicate foodie scents (Caught in the Act springs to mind as well) very soothing. Hot bath, clean sheets, and a delicious edible scent just wafting up about me....

It's a New Year, baby! Will report back once, as I said, I figure out how to create an opportunity to.... go BOOM!
  7. After yet another failed attempt with Double O, I came back to this one. It's amazing; this is the first LP where I've had the experience of really disliking it in the vial, disliking it on initial application, and then just LOVING it in the drydown. Wet, I get the same kind of issue I had with Tickle Tickle and Because the Night -- it goes on sharp and medicinal, almost like cough syrup. But once Petit Four dries down fully and blooms, it's just this soft subtle marzipan-ish pastry cloud. I can't get over how much I love it! As I said above, I've been on a kick to find a fab cake scent. This will hold me nicely for a little while! I confess I have no idea how Blatant Invitation works for me as a phero yet because I've only worn this for bedtime (and yes, sadly, sleep alone except for the cats). I will say that this feels a bit like X Appeal to me, in that the scent is so delicate and subtle I imagine people won't know what hit them when the phero goes to work! That will be an interesting experiment.

    Double O

Between the pink cake and the gorgeous label, I was hoping I would adore this one, but I think I'm getting the same patch complication others have described. The foodie part of the scent is mostly pink sugar--it's closer to candy than cake for me. I've tried it several times now, and every time it goes on very sweet and smooth, but at about 15 minutes something happens which I can only describe as the scent roughening. My nose doesn't register it as patchouli, but the sweet foody aspect suddenly goes sharp and crumply inside my nose. The longer I wear it the less sweet it smells and the more I get something .... hm, not plasticky, not earthy, but sharp and flat. So apparently my skin doesn't like this one. Ah, well!

It totally does have a phero'd feel.... and yet, on the theory that more is more, I ordered it boosted with Bang.... Go big or go home, right?

OK, now that this one is safely ordered I can rave about it! Got a sample with a trade and I'm so glad I did -- when I read the original description, I loved everything about it except I knew a) I couldn't do chocolate and tobacco notes give me a headache. You would think I would have learned by now! Sample is drained and not a speck of headache! This one lives up to all it's best reviews -- it is eyes-rolling-back-in-my-head sexy and powerful. The other notes bring out the best of the chocalate's dark decadent elements, and prevent any overly sugared sweetness. The leather and oud have a wonderful bite. Putting Kat Suit on makes me want to stalk about with a bullwhilp curled at my hip. It's got such a sense of power to it. And now the challenge is to figure out how to create a place in my life to wear something like this! That will be good food for my New Year's resolution...
  11. I held off on testing this one because it didn't sound like a "me" scent... I tried it yesterday for a retail day, though, and wow, it was really effective! The scent is quite citrus-y on me, with the floral very calm in the background. It had a bit of a perfume-y vibe to it, but more in a "complex blend where the notes are so intertwined it's hard to pick out any one as dominant" not in smelling like a commercial perfume. The scent was subtle and sophisticated... not quite me, but perfectly congruent with the phero! Cougar Potion didn't work for me as a scent, but the phero is great and this was a wonderful scent setting for it! I felt sparkly and confident; had some lovely hits with younger male customers (and a couple of older as well!). Definitely a social rather than a sexual vibe, which I like for that setting. I could see this working beautifully for any social setting that has professional overtones to it -- it's feminine and grown-up and deeply attractive without putting out too much on the sexual side of things. I'm actually contemplating a full bottle, which I didn't expect to be! I think I would use it in the same way that I use Sneaky Clean--they are quite different in many ways, but both have an element of classiness to them (but still playful and fun) that is supremely useful.
  12. Well, now you all have me thinking I should try this again! I've had the weirdest experience with LP Black. When I first got the sample, I felt as if it was an instant home run. I put it on, I sniffed and was in heaven with the dark, resinous gooey goodness. The next time I wore it I got something else entirely -- very nutty, almost, with a slightly unpleasant rubbery note? I was so convinced it was a fluke that I went ahead and ordered a full bottle because I had loved it so much on the initial application. But no, every time I try it now I get this weird nutty sweetness with slight overtones of rubber. It's puzzling and sad because I was convinced it was going to be a regular staple for me. But there are so many other things that do work I'll let it go for now. The mystery of chemistry!
  13. Isn't it just wonderful? The butter accord is what really sets it apart for me from any other foodie scent I've tried! I am loving it during these dark winter days, but I am also thinking how perfect it will be when next fall rolls around. And I am also thinking I need a recipe for something that tastes the way this smells.... :-)
  14. I'm glad you know us so well! :-) Thanks for the update about ordering, it's really helpful!
  15. Welcome, welcome! You'll never have more fun spending money, I guarantee -- best products, best customer service I've ever found ANYWHERE! And the forum is crazy fun. Can't wait to read your reviews!
  16. It looks like I'll be needing Apparition, Cauldron Cake and Pumpkin Souffle, just for starters! I'm also crossing my fingers that Mara opens up the Private Editions ordering page along with the rest of it on Jan. 1 -- I haz been making PLANS...
  17. So true, NuTrix! Next order just grows and grows -- but mostly things from October NRs I somehow never got around to ordering full bottles of! Only two weeks to the grand re-opening!! We can make it!!

    Unseelie

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this one yet! After my little outing with Absinthe this morning, I thought I'd try Unseelie again.... it's been a few months. I just love this. It's unlike anything else I've ever smelled. The description with it is brilliant, and right on for me--the leather and oud and all the herbs and resins combine in one intense mood/mind altering blend. I like what I've read about it's feeling grounding and safe despite the trippier aspects. That it's dark, but not evil dark. I've been known to head out into the woods for meditation and arcane rituals, and Unseelie works perfectly with that. It really does feel like a means of stepping between the worlds. Pure magic.
  19. Hm, this is one that I was really expecting to love, but when I got my sampler set I think the whole thing was suffering from severe travel shock. Every time I sniffed this in the vial I got a sickly sweet oversugared thing--and then it sold out, so I thought, ah, well, and forgot about it. I dug it out today because I wanted to test the Leather phero--I'm relieved to say I'm not head over heels in love with this, but now I get something that corresponds much more to the description. To the extent that there's sweetness, it's taken several giant steps back and is just a haunting little flourish, not a hammer to the face. For me, this has a really intense, tingly energy to it. It's definitely got that absinthe thing going on: a bit medicinal, a bit resin-y, odd and quite compelling. It feels like a cousin to Unseelie, which I love. As far the Leather goes, I got an initial surge of "whoa, check me OUT" and thought, OK, time to get shit done! but it dissipated quickly and now I am feeling exhausted and wonky. But I'm pretty sure that is the semester's end and retail hellcrunch, not the Leather, so perhaps I just need to take a phero break until after the holidays are mercifully concluded. Certainly it's one I'll want to experiment with again. If this were still available, I'd probably get a bottle, since I can definitely picture it for a very specific mood/mindset. It's not a total love affair, though, so no need to stalk the trade threads, weeping -- I think I can console myself with Unseelie in the meantime.... :-)
  20. I decided to give this another try and see if it worked any better--still the total Vicks first out of the bottle, and even when it settles down, it prickles the inside of my nose and the sweetness is artificial, somehow, which is a very rare thing for me with an LP. It's so weird--when I read the descriptions initially, this was one I thought most likely to work for me! I'm so glad we have the sample option. It's interesting--I just reread my review for Sweet Dreams and Comfort Potion Spell Oil, and in that one, I praised the slightly medicinal quality of the lavender... but I think it's the combination of medicinal and sweet that is doing me in with Tickle Tickle. I am going to put SD&C over it now and see how that works. But I think no bottle on this one for me.
  21. I've been eyeing KK for a bit now--sample in January for sure! Thanks, luna! Wow, just read the listing and I don't know how I missed this! Intent and scent both look like something I need -- thanks, cinnamonmel!
  22. Got a sniffee of this in a trade (thanks, StacyK!) and I'm in love. It occurred to me recently that one note I would have expected to encounter by now in my LP adventures is lemon, and I haven't... until now (oh, wait--I had an unfortunate experience with Pot O' Gold, which just was really not my thing). This is WONDERFUL. It's a deliciously foodie lemon, but creamy lemon rather than candied. I definitely get the nutmeg adding some spiciness and warmth. I was thinking initially that lemon would be good for summer, but this is so creamy and yummy that it's perfect for this cold overcast day. Very festive and warm and comforting. And now, thanks to the trade threads, I've got a bottle on the way (thanks, LadyVictoria!)!
  23. Well, I figured since this phero's emphasis was on bonding and relationship, I'd be safe.... but hmm, now you've got me thinking! Oh, you naughty ladies of LP, what would I do without you?! Reading back up thread, I realize it hadn't even occurred to me that a rebrew *might* be possible.... I'll go apply some Whisker Wishes in that direction!
  24. irish eyes, given that you liked X Appeal I think you will love this as well. It's got that same stealth aspect--so quiet and subtle that it's appropriate for almost any situation, while packing such a powerful effect with the phero!
  25. Wore this last night and I take back every uncomplimentary thing I ever said about Perfect Match. I spent the evening with a couple friend and got waited on all night hand and foot; second helpings offered and brought, my water glass refilled before it could empty. At the end of the evening as I was trying to be a good guest and scoot out the door, the wife sat with me and asked all sorts of interested/supportive questions about different aspects of my life, and then the husband half of the pair suggested we have one of our semi-annual lunches this week. The vibe all evening was happy contented loving friendship. Plus, it was fricking freezing here and I swear the scent helped keep me warm! The smoke note is this is just perfect, what I was hoping for in Apparition but don't quite get.
