  1. Woo hoo! A BI, a SWS, and an LP! Can't wait to get a sampler.

    Blood on Snow

One of the first I bought off Etsy. This is a lovely fragrance. One of those I consider to smell like an upscale department store fragrance which is how I describe them when I can’t pick out the individual notes because it blends so well. It is white, sweet, and feminine. But it also has a bright tone, not a citrus one – almost a cherry one and that’s the currant. It lasts, too. I love it. Everyone at home who smelled me liked it, too.
  3. I was not around for Mamelons de Cerise, so I cannot compare this supposedly rebrew-in-disguise to that one. However, this scent is awesome! (Awesome not being a common word in my vocabulary.) It is white, sweet, bright, tangy, and yummy!!! From the bottle, I get a bright and happy cherry lemon and it pretty much stays that way through the drydown. The lemon never gets lemon pledgy as lemon sometimes can on me. For drydown, I get a slight earthiness which must be the white amber and musk poking through. The cherry burns off, but the pomegranate and cassis keep it fruity. I really adore this one! It is a most perfect scent!
  4. That's sweet of you considering I haven't even sampled it yet!
  5. I thought this scent was so unique, that I went FB. I had nothing with blueberry in it. Yes, you do get a blueberry blast, but it mellows down soon. I ended with a slightly spicy black musk in the end, but the blueberry for me was always in the background. I differ from Memorare -- I feel it is just on the feminine border of being masculine, but definitely on the feminine side. I may try it on the husband, but I think the other scents I've set aside for him are more what I want him to smell like. I would like to congratulate Mara on one of the most unique scents I've encountered so far. And the name...I said it out loud to my daughter and realized -- Blue (as in blew) Smoke?
  6. I bought this off Etsy along with A Treasure of Aquamarine and the two are like siblings. Hard to describe, but they both have the same quality with a different scent. Out of the bottle, I smell a floral blueberry. Upon application, there is a very fruity, yummy blueberry. This quickly burns into a more floral, water-like plant scent. The drydown is more what I would have expected of A Treasure of Aquamarine – watery floral. The blueberry is always there in the background, however. But there is a watery quality to this one. I definitely get water lily and the touches of blue musk and chamomile. It’s a blue, watery, stemmy, musky scent! This one I do have to reapply to keep the blueberry thing going and I think it gets better with more layers applied. In regard to the blue mica, I actually do have a nail polish which looks similar to the bottle when shaken.
  7. Yep. All those were before my time. Although, I do have Brigid's Amber and Jewels of Avalon. Brigid's Amber I view as being foodie in an apple pie sort of way and Jewels of Avalon is straight up apple. It was the cotton candy and berry sugars that peaked my interest in Betsy's Apple. It seems like it will be more like a warm weather apple.
  8. I bought this off Etsy. With its vanilla note, I felt like I couldn’t lose, but I was also expecting a watery tone. So, I was a little baffled when I smelled caramel out of the bottle which is not bad, but I was expecting watery with the aquatic accord and rosevines being listed first for notes. So, upon first application, I said “Caramel Musk, is that you?” which I have. Then I went over and smelled my actual Caramel Musk and they are not the same, Caramel Musk being much sweeter and candy-like. But , to my nose, there is a scent memory of Caramel Musk which must come from the other notes of vanilla, sugar, musk, amber, and patchouli also in this fragrance. Sometimes I almost get a sweet roll, not quite cinnamon roll, but sweet roll quality from it. After wearing it about an hour, I would sum it up as green caramel musk. It’s nice, just not what I expected when I think of the color aquamarine. I was not expecting the sweetness; I was expecting green and water notes with vanilla. But, everyone thinks it smells good as do I. My son, noting the aqua mica, told me I should get a nail polish in that color!
  9. One day I wanted a floral, but not a bright Spring happy floral, a more subdued floral. So, I dug out my Feed The Flowers sampler which I had only ever swiped one tiny swipe and this was my first impression - “Getting earth and leaves on first sniff, then a sweetness comes out." But totally a floral sweetness, no food in this one at all. I am not much on straight floral scents, so I don’t think this one smells like me, but it’s still good. I almost smell dill weed on me in this. It still dries down into a nice scent.” So, one day, I wore it for real all day and it was surprisingly pleasant after it dried down. Wet, I get (what?) a lot of dill! Just like the first swipe. I don’t mind dill with my flowers. I smell the earth, the faint wisp of smoke. In the end, it is just nicely sweet and I also agree a little herbal. My nose is always picking up that “dill” note whatever it’s coming from. I also feel like I smell a little lemony/lime thing. I do smell hay which I like and I do agree that this makes it more an autumnal scent. But it’s a nice autumn floral, a little spooky. It’s very interesting and I do now own a FB. It sticks with me all day long!
  10. Argh. My sampler is still on its way. I identify with jlisa's anxiety. I usually order right away what I think will go fast. But I knew the sale was coming, so I opted to wait until July and I also find that sampling sometimes is the difference between paying your bills or paying Mara. Maybe Mara would consider a rebrew already? Just to get the rest of us through summer? So the rest of us can shine for summer??
  11. I am late to the game on this one considering the 2016 version has been released already, but I saved this for summer from last year. I am actually glad I have 2015, since I have read that 2016 is less cherry forward and more mango. I am all for cherry. Upon application, I get a boozy chocolate cherry blast with some mango mixed in. The mango really pops out after 5 minutes on and then that's all I really smell. I do get some creaminess and the spiciness of the ginger, but the mango stays with an ever so small hint of plastic (mango does this on me). I am not a big fan of mango in general. Even a mango smoothie can smell sour to me and that's what I think the mango in this scent smells like on me a little. For the drydown, I am left with patch which is something I do not mind in the least. In fact, I got the "I smell incense" comment from someone. I never admit it's me. I wish the initial fruity blast could stick around and just kind of mellow rather than fade. The whole fragrance just fades in general on me after a while, but I have faith that those cops are still working. It's a nice summer fruity OCCO.
  12. Hmm...I swore I reviewed this last year...well here goes: This is a very different LP variant. There is no patchouli, so it smells very light. I don’t know why, but I get a lot of a woody smell from it, kind of like cedar. It has an earthy quality, like flowers and forest. The musk and amber probably add to the earthiness. I also really get the plumeria which is what gives it such a different quality from any other LP variants I have. This one is just very different from the foody LP variants. I always use Pantene products and I have realized that there is something very similar in scent. Is plumeria in Pantene? I didn't notice it right away, but it seems Pantene has just up and changed there scent again and it reminded me of Love Potion: Humidity or vice versa since I wore the scent last. Enough to make me say my shampoo smells like LP: Humidity now.
  13. This turned out to be one of my favorite Fairy Cakes. I actually bought it to layer along with Lemon Fairy Cake, but found it is just fine on its own. Yes, it is an intense strawberry and a little fakey at the beginning, but it dries down to a delicious strawberry cupcake that I have worn several times. The fake strawberry note mellows out and smells yummy. Nice to know that Berry Fairy Cake has a different berry quality. I was wondering how it differed. I was a little disappointed to find out that these are not permanent. All the ones I've tried have been unique, pleasant surprises. Mara knows her cakes!
  14. As soon as Mara posted about this PE, I wanted it. And my bottle has been paid for. I am so glad these reviews are reinforcing my decision. I was looking for an apple scent that did not smell like fall! Coincidentally, I had just worn Living Doll w/CB that day and thought this is my only non-Autumn apple scent short of buying Sugared Apples which I have also ordered along with Apple Fairy Cake. Hmmm...I'm on an apple roll it seems.
  15. I bought this in the sale last year and saved it for this summer. I find this scent combo intriguing and different from anything else on the site. When I think of summer, I actually think of both lime and coconut. This is the perfect combination of the two. And no plastic coconut! Coconut can become plasticky on me, but not when mixed with cream. I picture a piece of key lime pie sprinkled with toasted coconut topped with whipped cream and cherry. I get lime, coconut, whipped cream, cherry…the whipped cream really stands out after a while. It’s also a little boozy. I am not sure what copal smells like, but it must be the final note I can’t place. I just really like it because it’s both lime and coconut. I think the sugar and vanilla are keeping the coconut from becoming plasticky on me. It pretty much stays the same from bottle application to drydown. Kind of a tart and boozy dessert.
  16. I would like a Betsy's Apple please! I can finally send for my invoice. Been waiting for this to be posted.
  17. First, I thought your indigo punch was beautiful. It looked patriotic to me, the exact colors I think of for 4th of July. Second, now I have to be creative to get a Betsy's Apple? How's that?
  18. Beautiful!! When can the long distance people purchase a Betsy's Apple?
  19. A day late, but I was also like to say welcome. You are busy from one FT working mom to another!!
  20. What great reviews! Makes you want to get your sampler out and get excited about that set all over again, not that I don't already own some FBs of them and have some of the others on my list already! Can't wait to read her other LP postings.
  21. Oh, no! Pie In The Sky has that milk/butter/cream note I love in everything Mara makes. I'm excited about all the oceany scents!! Notes, notes, notes please! And a new Betrothal Potion. Thanks, Mara, for making a new version!!!
  22. Oh, this is a good one and I am not a floral lover. But with these Sugared florals, it seems to be the only thing I want to wear. I really don't know what orchids smell like, but this a beautiful sweet floral. The sugar tempers the floral. It is sweet, but not in a sweet sickening floral way; its more like edible. The sugars are so good. My son came downstairs and said "Umm...what smells good?" I replied, "It's me, it's Sugared Orchids." And if you want some cake, you must try Fairy Cake: Orchid. Also own, also good. I haven't tried all the Sugared florals, but this has to be one of the best ones. Orchids seem to be magical flower. Sorry, I realize this is not too helpful. I can only say it was worth the try.
  23. I am not a floral person. I bought this along with Sugared Wisteria and Sugared Orchids in an attempt to recreate the sold out Secret Sweetness with Gotcha. But it is a great sugared floral on its own. I have never smelled real peonies so it's hard for me to describe. This Sugared is equal parts flower and stem in my nose. And the sugars make it a tolerable floral. Very bright and happy. I wore this to work the other day and going down the hall, another female co-worker said I smelled good .... like cinnamon. I have Sugared Cinnamon and they are not the same. Chalk it up to nose confusion I guess. As my husband said, "Scents are confusing!"
  24. This one took me aback just a little because the floral really pokes through and I was expecting a "candied floral" or I should say "caked floral". I get an instant whiff of vanilla, then right after that the daffodil, both the stem and flower. Then, it turns into equal parts cake, green, and flower. The floral is delicate, light, and fresh -- think early spring. This one is a lightweight on me. It fades after about 6 hours and I have to reapply unlike some other Fairy Cakes, but its wonderful cakeness sticks around. I also own Highland Fling and find it more intense and more vanilla on me with a only a hint of the daffodil. Two totally different fragrances.
