The rain forest sat nestled behind my hotel. It looked magical and inviting and I could see it through the large window in my room. I was exhausted from my flight. I laid in bed staring out into the forest as I started to doze off. A heavy rain started to fall and it lulled me into a deep sleep. A few hours later a haunting melody floated through my room waking me. It sounded sad and joyous at the same time. It filled me with a strange energy, and I sat up in bed fully awake. The music beckoned me. The rain had let up and the moon shone bright in the sky. The compulsion to go toward the music was overwhelming. I put on some shoes and left my room still wearing my pajamas. I quietly slipped out being careful not to wake anyone. As I exited the hotel I stared into the forest transfixed with the magic of nature. Down the path I went. As the path got more narrow the scent of the forest enveloped me. Earth and wet moss. It smelled like home. The rain had left a charge in the air. It was intoxicating. Still the music pulled me further and further into the forest. Eventually I came to a clearing. Large old trees framed it. I could feel their ancient power. As I entered the clearing I was hit with the most inviting lovely scent! Orchids clung to the tree trunks. They were in full bloom, soaking up the nights rain. When I got to the center of the clearing I realized this was the source of the beautiful melody. I laid down on a soft bed of moss at the center. Looking up at the wise old trees, intoxicated by the scent of sweet orchids, I watched and listened. High up in the ancient trees' canopy I saw movement. Dancing in the branches were the most beautiful beings I have ever seen. They looked like tiny humans but had translucent wings that shimmered in the moonlight. Their song was so full of emotion and their movements so graceful. I was captivated with the magic. My eyes got heavy. Right there on the moss, under the night sky, I fell asleep to the fairies magical song. When I awoke I was back in my bed at the hotel. A dream. I got out of bed to get in the shower. As I walked past the sink I glanced in the mirror. I spun back around. My hair was full of moss. I've also been having some brushes with mortality the last few years -- my own and that of loved ones. I'm fine but one reason I've been away from the forums was that I spent the first year plus of the pandemic in treatment for breast cancer. I'm definitely one of the lucky ones but after chemo, radiation, double mastectomies and biologically targeted infusions, it's taken a while to get my mojo back! So I'm picturing apples-- ripe, fermenting cool damp earth a light warm maybe animalic musk ? I'm unsure of a fourth note, maybe a tiny whisper of a very dry cool vanilla? Or a drop of ozone ? Or a whisper of smoke? Maybe nothing ,? Please you decide! Soooo just your basic Memento Mori meditation on the endless cycle of death and decay leading to rebirth/apples from the Garden of Eden composting/Victorian graveyard type deal, but in a sexy way? . A Halloween potion for sure! Something that can help me feel curious and fearless in this later stage of life. Number two I've been craving this for years but never got around to it -- a luscious coffee extravaganza Coffee (deep dark roast) Whipped cream Chestnut or almond or hazelnut -- please you choose! Maybe a drop of myrrh as a base note? Or bittersweet dark chocolate? So something rich and dark and delicious, sweet but not too much so, not necessarily a pure foody but close. I'm trying to reconnect to my sensuous self and I am hoping this will help. Something that evokes coming into a Paris cafe as authored by Colette on a winter evening, leaving the dusky boulevard lined with gas-lit street lamps and entering the steamy crowded warmth to the sound of conversations and the smell of pastries and warm drinks. A feast for the senses! I haven't felt luscious for a long time. Hoping this helps. Number one is for me to smell on myself, number two is for others to smell on me if that makes sense." For Coconut Kiss I can't find my notes, but for those who remember Coconut Breeze, I wanted something that evoked that 70s summer coconut suntan lotion, lazy days at the lake vibe. I'd like a PE where marzipan would be the main star, in front, then right behind it there is vanilla cake intertwining with creamy coconut, with juicy raspberry in the background. xTHE STORY BEHIND MY PE: Due to my daughters having problems and ended up in a hospital, my mental health too a huge hit. I started binge eating even more than before. In a few weeks I gained 20 kg and with 125 kg on me, I too had to go to the hospital because my obesity started causing me a lot of other health problems. My kids are great now and I am hoping it will stay that way. But my mental health took a hit. And my health. I let myself go long time ago, but I didn't realize the importance of that. And I need to start taking better care of myself. Better diet, more sleep and no sugar. So I wanted a PE that smells like a dessert, so that I can, in a way, still enjoy sweets. I'd like to name my PE 11 because my kids and I have that number in our birth dates, plus to me that number is connected to changes (I became a mom 22, my dad died when he was 55 and I was 33, my kids' dad left us on 9.9. ...). And I need a change desperately. The label photo is from a concert that my daughters and I went to on 8.8. I took that photo while the singer was talking about mental health and the tears just started coming, I couldn't stop. So I took a photo of him at that moment, as a reminder. I apologize for TMI, just wanted to tell you the story behind the PE. I know this is "just" a perfume, but to me it will mean a lot more, as I will apply it every day and it will remind me, not of all the bad stuff that was happening this past weeks, but to take better care of me. Mental health is tricky because you can know exactly what you have to do, all the right things, and still sabotage yourself because motivation and energy just aren’t there and we cope as best we can whether it’s eating or not tidying up or whatever else. I think your P.E. sounds nummy and you have a great idea for the exact purpose you have, and I’ll tell you why. I don’t think I have ever seen this mentioned on the forums and I almost started a thread on it; but because when I like a scent I often end up huffing my wrists quite often, including sometimes when I eat something- well smelling the lp can actually change the taste of my food. So picture smelling cauldron cake or compromising positions while you eat something with say a little plain yogurt or mascarpone or whatever healthy food would go well.
