Dolly
OK, so today, I was going to the hairdresser, to get 5 inches hacked off my head, and I was NOT happy about it, but was resigned to the fact that it had to happen, because due to a hellish hormonal shed, it was so thin and pitiful, that I couldn't bear to look at it anymore. so, waist length hair became bra strap length....BOOHOO. Anyway, I was wearing Midnight Cravings, just because.....and I needed some pheros.....was thinking about Open Windows, because I know how it improves my mood.....BUT, I wanted to test the unscented Lumina spray that I have. SOOOOOO.......spritz to the chest, one to each side of the neck......off I go to see my hairdresser. No makeup, hair JUST washed and still wet. Blue Jeans and a sweatshirt. The scene is set...... So, I get out of the car, and I am humming.....YES, I SAID HUMMING. As I am walking in to get a haircut that I have been putting off for over a month......I walked in and started chatting with my hairdresser, and she starts giggling. Which got me started laughing. Some of her other clients come in and they couldn't figure out why we were so tickled. I cannot tell you what we were laughing about.....it was something insignificant, for sure, but I don't remember exactly what it was.....LOL First impressions.....I think I like this......for days when I don't have to be serious..... Potion Master
They share some of the same ingredients...Lumina also contains Est and Alpha-Nol like Lace, but Lumina is a more complex and sophisticated mix.
AlienChangeling
Have an online convention this weekend and never used my webcam setup before, so am nervous! Went kinda phero-crazy and applied Rocket Fuel III, Audacious, and rollon Lumina. Feeling better now. And sexy. And excited (no, not THAT kind of excited!)... AlienChangeling
I had a very great fondness for a certain new MX over at another phero site, but I think Audacious and Lumina have blown all those right out of the water. Not to mention just having access to all these wonderful perfumes! *happyhappy*
Dolly
Yeah, I find that the phero scents here not only work more consistently than at "the other place", but they also smell a HECK of a lot better......you can get the pre-blended ones and there is no need to cover them! Raq On
yipee! I ordered Lumina too. while i liked AHE (the scent it was in) I ate the scent, but I did notice I was very serene when wearing it. This happened pretty consistently. Can't wait to try
Dolly
OK, public service announcement! Those of you who have Est sensitive men like mine (BECCAH), use with caution! I don't know how much Est this has in it, but here's the deal.......my man is very hit-or-miss with high doses of Est not paired with something more dominant. Lumina does not have a dominant feel. Love it for the self-effects....my man, not so much. He was cold as ice last night. Dismissive, almost hateful. Ignoring my presence almost. That has only happened when I wear high doses of Est when not paired with something more dominant.....BI is very good, Leather very good....Sexology hit or miss, Lace, not so good, Cuddle Bunny FAIL.....you get the picture! Not saying this to put anybody off. MOST MEN respond well to Est.....I know that mine and Beccah's do not fit the norm. Just wanted to let ya'll know! I will probably wear this for self-effects and then spritz some Dom over it before my man shows up! Edited November 12, 2011 by Dolly
Guest Lor
Wore Lumina on Holloween. LOTS of attention from other people. My guy hates EST, responds poorly to it everytime ,but like you Dolly does respond favorably to Leather and BI ect. He didnt spend 5 whole minutes w/me on Holloween. Im wondering now what the balance in Cougar is, since mine liked that one. Thanks for the head's up
Kathei
i love lumina in AHE! im pretty sure id rock this one too BUT due to dwindling finances, i might wait another 2 months to try this unscented. until then ill make do with my AHE ~ good thing i have a full bottle! Beccah
@Dolly thanks for the heads up. SO had given a neutral response to AHE, so I won't push it around him. Maybe Cougar doesn't have est. in it? I'm guessing a-nol, DHEA, & cops in Cougar. I know that wouldn't be the entire blend, just 3 components. Potion Master
Interesting to see how consistent Dolly's responses are with Est. (Sorry he didn't respond well, but he's an excellent gauge!) I'm positive Cougar has Est in it, but likely not as much. Lumina is around 25% Est.
liz
Lumina is around 25% Est. oh.....ok I guess I will not be using Lumina w/SP (or if I do....v-e-r-y carefully)
Guest Lor
oh.....ok I guess I will not be using Lumina w/SP (or if I do....v-e-r-y carefully) Since I love Lumina, but my SO doesnt like EST, im still not going to stop using it. Around him I might add a swipe of Tabby if its UNLumina. I dont want to change the formula of Lumina by adding anything that alters the phero-ratios, but around him I might add a bit of Dom. luna65
Q doesn't respond to Cougar at all, so maybe it doesn't have enough EST for him. I'm thinking Lumina is one of those I need to get a trial-size of since AHE doesn't work on me.
Guest Lor
freaking jealous. seriously. I would LOVE to have a total 180 with phero-types and my SO. He digs the bossy ones and is a very military or suck-it-up type. I would just love one day to wake up and have him swoon over Lace or EST or Lumina, ect. I feel like I should be doing push-ups while I type this. grrrrr.
luna65
LOL; that's interesting, though. Some dominant personalities will only respond to people who can demonstrate an equal amount of power (or more). I think with Q it's a combination of his age and his personality. He's Mr. Chivalry and used to treating women a certain way, plus with his Scorpio nature he wants to make everything right/perfect. That kind of personality is perfect for EST, I think, it's the trigger he's already familiar with.
Calii
Well, that much EST explains the great reaction I got from a friend of mine, just a friend I flirt with,I know he is an EST responder cause of Lace...AH'sE was a winner, and also with several female friends that day, everybody was really happy smiley, including me,actually, especially me A good mood is contagious tho, with or without pheros

Absolutely ! I'll still wear it like for work, or when I need a lift I'm a bit frighten to wear any amts of Est around SP, but he has responded well w/other blends that contain Est (G&L, CB, Sexology) for now I'll concentrate on the "bossy pants" pheros (as you put it...hee) hmm....what do you think of a dab or 2 of Lumina and slighty more of SS4W ? eta: I've never tried combining un-pheros eta: oh crap ! SS4W has Est TOO !! Edited November 12, 2011 by liz
Potion Master
EST is fabulous in mixed blends. It's feminizing, and Chris says it's crucial for creating "female magic". It's just high quantities that cause some guys to react negatively. MOST guys react wonderfully to it, but even so, ODing on the stuff will make almost anyone uncomfortable. Just the right amount = sensual femininity. Too much = desperately needy and weak pregnant woman.

Indigo
Lumina is similar to Lace in that it makes feel very girly, glowy and sparkly however Lace is more ditsy as in giggly girly whereas Lumina is more girly but in control of the situation. With Lace I've been known to lose my keys because I get too caught up in the frolicks, whereas Lumina allows me to stay on top of things.

I wore UN lumina yesterday and I liked it so much for the self effects. My husband went OFF on me ( I can't remember the last time he yelled or got pissed off!) and told me I was, in a nutshell being needy and blaming that lovely shortcoming on HIM. We've fought early in our relationship about this before and sometimes it is true, but NOT this time. I wasn't feeling that way at all.. What started off as a friendly debate about a begnign topic turned ugly real fast.....I just stood there stunned, like "what just happened? Did I miss something? Now this has happened a handful of times in 20 years, but objectively, could it be the est in Lumina? I am a huge cuddle bunny fan and though I haven't worn it lately, I never noticed any reaction from him ESPECIALLY being overly chilverous.(sorry for typo but I'm Pissed off) I'm almost scared to try it again.... This happend after dinner and I had sprayed 3 sprays (from a trial vial, which Luna said is about right since the trials have smaller nozzles) in the morning.... WTF? LOL; that's interesting, though. Some dominant personalities will only respond to people who can demonstrate an equal amount of power (or more). I think with Q it's a combination of his age and his personality. That kind of personality is perfect for EST, I think, it's the trigger he's already familiar with. I don't know if I'd call my man dominant....maybe verrrry independent and self reliant... those are traits he values in others too. Oh yeah, Est is good in some blends for my sweetie, and SOMETIMES, an Est heavy blend is OK, BUT not consistently.....SS4W he seems to do well with.....not sure how much Est is in THAT.......but, then again, thinking about it, when I am using SS4W with him, I almost always add a spritz of Dom or Leather as well......hmmmmmm.......I think a test with straight up SS4W is in order....... MOST guys react wonderfully to it, but even so, ODing on the stuff will make almost anyone uncomfortable. Just the right amount = sensual femininity. Too much = desperately needy and weak pregnant woman. Now I KNOW when I've used SS4W UN I've sprayed as much or slightly more than I tried w/ Lumina...I am just wondering if I should watch for this reaction from him with other stuff containing EST. It happens to be a particularly stressful time for him right now so...not sure WHAT just happened back there.... What phero do you wear when you're bummed out from argument but you and your man have to sit w/ a third party in an important meeting? Focus Potion? Tranquility Potion? Lace makes me jump around singing into my hairbrush like a horrible rom com cliche, while Lumina made me glide like a femmey swan through the world. @RaqOn I'm sorry to hear that. Def. the EST. Raq On
AWWW! sounds like he did indeed react to the high amount of Est. I'm pretty sure my BF is the same if I recall my early tests with Lace correctly. He hates it when I'm needy or anyone else is for that matter. My favorite when I'm bummed/stressed is B2. I am so sorry bunny. IDK, I posted this experience in my LP journal and Mara replied that she didn't think it could be the EST 8-10 hrs. after application. (remember these sample phero's are in alcohol, so faster to fade) So (throws hands up) who the heck knows why men act the way they do ANYWAY? I hate waiting for people's bad moods to cycle through. Why can't he be like me and want to talk about it???? (Oh that's right, because that would be NEEDY....)

luna65
It's most often attributed to Sigmund Freud - he of the use of rampant symbolism in regards to psychological signficance - to say (just as Calii notes) something a thing is just what it is, and not a stand-in for something else. So the phrase can - depending on its context - mean just take this at face value.
