That happened to something I mailed to Merrie who lives 15 minutes away. It went all the way down to a sorting place in LA then came back to the Valley. I don't drink the Lean/Six Sigma Kool-Aid that a lot of people at my work do, but even that one has my efficiency meter in the red. Sure, they're saving bucks in manpower by having the system automated, but that can't be efficient for the system as a whole! Ugh, please do not look at the postal system as an example of how government agencies run. I can tell you, that wouldn't fly here! Approximately 30 of us were trained in it, and 29 of us very nearly developed a cult. (Guess who the loner was. ) At one point they wanted to get colored ribbons to pin to name badges to signify what belt we have. It got so that the act of being involved in Lean Six Sigma eliminated the very efficiencies we were supposed to be creating!!
