  1. Ok - I am somewhat of an authority on desitin - use it for my horses and myself (hey, you try riding 50 miles in 100 degree heat...then we'll discuss the merits of desitin) Desitin smells faintly of the fish oil in it...could be he is interpreting EOW as fishy. Baby powder smells more like oak moss or perhaps amber (amber turns to powdery smell on me) They are really different odors, but then again try to pin a man down on what he smells and you come up "duh". I wouldn't panic - just have him smell each of them AFTER they dry down and see what he likes and what he doesn't. DH surprises me with what his comments on what he finds very attractive on me. Things I don't consider to be at all sexy scents....and if I consider it dead sexy, his reaction is usually "It's fine." Men.

    Thane

Only got a quick try of this on DH before he left for vacay, but I was impressed. It is very manly and strong, but has a different feel to it. Want to do more testing here when I have male skin around again....

    La Belle Reveuse

La Belle Reveuse A peaceful blend of lavender, heather and lily, with light touches of gardenia and lemongrass, and a good night kiss of sugar. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Magickal Meanings of Ingredients: LAVENDER ~ Soothes/restores body and mind, arouses sexual desire in men, loyalty, purification, protection, healing. HEATHER ~ Admiration and beauty, protection, especially over women and virtue, peace, beginnings, elemental magic, wishes granted. POWDERED SUGAR ~ Attracts love, luck, sweetness, riches, lust inducing. LILIES ~ Soothing and calming on the nerves, sweetness, mental prowess, happiness. GARDENIA ~ Mood elevator, powerfully "magnetic" for women, enhances visage, love, passion, peace, healing, spirituality. LEMONGRASS ~ Lust, increases psychic powers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ok I have worn this to bed for the last two nights. Definitely a keeper and definitely bottle-worthy. A lovely soft floral, with just the right touch of sweetness to be soothing. Not quite as forward as To Sooth a Broken Heart, but I get a more floral impression than Les Sommeil...so somewhere in between, at least to my nose. I have bedtime scents, and daytime scents, and rarely do the 2 overlap, but I liked this so much that I even sneaked some on yesterday afternoon at work.
  5. Wow. Now, usually I am all over EOW. But something in this hated me with a deep and sour passion. All those notes are good for me, but put them together, and evidently they battle it out...relentlessly.

    Alzbeta

OK...slinks onto the page... Alzbeta is slinky, spicy, with the feel of Scarlet Silk but a tad richer. Sort of those scarlet sheets after a spicy tumble the night before. Not so much dirty as .... experienced. I like Scarlet Silk, and I think I may even like Alzbeta a tad more...you've got the cinnamon and the silk, but with an added touch of earthiness from the patchouli/musk/"dirt". I can't pick out the narcissus, but I'm glad it's in there, because it is always all about me... Does that help?
  7. N'Kay, I was jazzed about this one. And strangely, it did the cat pee metamorphosis on me. The only note I'm unfamiliar with is cassia, so perhaps that what did it...whatever it was, it went feline on me. Tried it again today to see if maybe I was just having a reaction last night. Nope. *sigh*
  8. Hysterical... I remember my first LP sample hoard. I was so confused, I hated most of them at first contact. Of course, in the intervening time some of those have become favorites. And you shouldn't have a hard time trading - heck you're practically my scent opposite.

    Siren's Serenade

Siren's Serenade Vanilla, dates, luscious red sugar and a piquant hint of saffron, grounded by deep ambergris and musk, sparkling with papaya and mango. With such a beauteous song will they steer their ships and their fates directly to you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Magickal Meanings of Ingredients: VANILLA ~ Aphrodisiac, inspires happiness, playfulness, sexual arousal, lust, vitalizing. DATE ~ Improves male virility and sexual prowess. FIG ~ Wisdom, fertility, love, luck, protection, aids restful sleep, divination, feminine sexuality. MANGO ~ Increases male libido, spiritually elevating. PAPAYA ~ Love, protection, fertility, magnification of devotion. RED SUGAR ~ Attracts love, luck, sweetness, riches, lust inducing. SAFFRON ~ Love, beauty, happiness, lust, purification, healing, clairvoyance. AMBERGRIS ~ Increases personal power, heightens sexual responses, dreaming. RED MUSK ~ Self-confidence and strength, sexual attractant, heightens passions and arousal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm so excited - a fig note that doesn't do the Tide Tango on me... This is fruity as I like it, soft and sweet and rich fruit flavors. Gives me a fresh, tropical feel without any overpowering notes. So far this is my favorite of those I am testing today.
  10. AUNTIE MAME!!!! Good lord...I love this one, so just call me Mame, dahlink. I have the image of my grandmother's dark mahogany furniture in her cool, mysterious bedroom when I smell Flapper on me. All the little bottles on the polished silver tray, set upon the deep red dressertop.
  11. OMG the mental image: "Seamus" Smell like a real man's naughty bits! The model would have to be the guy from Full Monty, obviously.
  12. Oh that's rich! Love the photo! Do they have a men's version....what rhymes with Penis?
  13. I have carefully stayed away from Designing August because I wanted it all to be a surprise! YAY these are fantastic! I am blown away by all the creativity and work that goes into this from all of you. I'm definitely ordering a sample pack, but I can see DH needs a bottle of Thane for sure....and oh I can't decide which ones for me.... Positively lovely!

    Lava Rain

DH loves it, and it is absolutely gorgeous on him! Just melds perfectly with his chemistry. I wore it too, but it is merely nice on me, while it is **RAWR** on him (well, more like **puuurrrrr** as it's a peaceful sort of scent). So far he's worn it once during the day and several times in the evening. Mil gracias!

    Lava Rain

Yesterday I tried this out, along with several others, while at work. However, when I got home, after training, I cleaned up and slathered Lava Rain on by itself. Wow. This one I can't tell exactly what I am smelling, but I find it very sexy. Firstly is just a hint of citrusy tobacco. Not overwhelming, but clear. Then as it settles, I think a soft amber note, and the spiciness of patchouli. But in the background is ... is that a watery note? ... I can't tell but it keeps me huffing my arm. I really very much like this one. And so do my horses...hahaha....my mare is a choosy one - she likes MX135, Sugared Honeycomb, and she followed me around huffing my arms last night, so she is definitely a Lava Rain fan.
  16. I have LP Red amped with H&S. They are a natural combo, I think. It's one I wear to go to town on the weekend or when I am wanting a "kinder gentler" vibe. I use the softer, cuddlier blends a lot to take the edge off myself. I really feel it allows me to relax and communicate with less...sharpness. Thank goddess they aren't completely incongruent! Ail, forever thanks to you for bringing lovely things into our lives.
  17. Androstenone=cat pee. To me at least. Bigtime. Eh, but it's worth it. Alpha androstenol smells just abhorrent as well... EOW=more like really strong roquefort cheese..or yourself at ovulation time after a really long athletic day outside...if you know what I mean. Multiple people remarked to you that you smelled of cat urine? That would make for a bummer day! Could it be an individual skin reaction to a combination of scents and EOW?
  18. Got DH a bottle of this. Naturally, I am going to try it first. Because that's my right... He is very attracted to the voodoo scents, which have a certain flavor of their own, I think. This is right up his alley. Green, clean, bright scent. I don't detect any phero smell at all, wet or dry. After drydown (on me, at least) it gets a little warmer and deeper...or maybe that's the pheros talkin'. I want DH to try this for workday wear - he gets good reactions from SUPER, but the fragrance is strong and makes him self-conscious...silly little man! I think this will be more his style. footnote: OK - evidently the pheros work, b/c after huffing my arm deeply and repeatedly, I spent about 60 seconds trying to figure out how to spell "conscious"...and now I am all jittery. I think I gave myself DIHL...WHOOOHOOO! Thumbs up!

    Sugared Honeycomb

Oh Daisy - hope your feeling better soon. I can't imagine 2 procedures all alone. Too cute that the nurses loved your perfume. Big change from that hospital smell. Sugared Honeycomb is one of my snuggly downtime scents as well. Hope it brings you comfort.

    Gemini

Hehehe can't wait for DH's bottle to get here! He's Gemini, and will love a citrusy musky woods! I might try it too, but citrus hates me with a Tide-detergent passion, so...

    Naughty on the Nile

The notes in this called my name: sandalwood, patchouli, jasmine (not sure, but champa is actually plumeria alba, but either way I am good with it...) Oddly though, when first applied I get an overwhelming fennel/anise sort of scent! Huh? I might add that I abhor fennel/anise/licorice...I want to run away from myself for the first 10 minutes or so. Maybe it is a patchouli reaction? Or the benzoin? I thought benzoin was kind of a pseudo-sweet vanilla-ish scent.... After about 10 minutes that top note fades and it is indeed a rather pretty resinous blend. Doesn't suit me as well as Kapet or Soul Food, both of which I love, but it will certainly be used.
  22. OK I picked up a bottle of this in the sale. I am a brave girl and tuberose cannot scare me. I find this utterly lovely! The civet (a fave of mine) gives it just a hint of naughty, and the tuberose is...well, let's face it, you can't tiptoe around tuberose. It's always going to be thicker than syrup. But the slight sugar actually lightens it, and the civet adds a sexy feel. DH absolutely adored this one and declared it to be "tasty". I actually enjoy wearing it to bed as it is an enveloping feel for me. I'm so sorry it didn't work for you, Astrinde. Perhaps you can use a scent locket?
  23. OK I am clueless - where is this one....vanilla & coconuts, vanilla & coconuts!!! Vanilla & coconuts & musk!!! Where is it??? Pffssst. if I stopped wearing everything that made DH go "boioioing" I'd be barenekkid - hold on - that would get the same reaction.
  24. :lovebuggy: Ooooohhhh - look a man on the forum! You know, a_e, nothing you could say would be less than stellar. A real first hand male opinion - a rare and precious thing. Thanks for writing something up about it. Have you worn it enough to have any input as to the pheros? I don't even know which ones are in this... I'm still debating about getting this for DH.
