    Top Five

Hmmm... I am currently reaching for: LP Autumn 08 Kapet Raven Moon Les Sommeil Hathor DH rattled a few off the other day as his favorites: Pony's DH Elementary Sweet Revenge NOX Native Soil
  2. HA. Must be why I like it - smells horsey. Noooo, I really don't get any saddle soap or horsey associations. This one had to grow on me - now I love it. I get a heavy dose of cocoa - like opening a tin of cocoa powder, with the woods making it firmer. And just drifting in and out, almost tantalizing, is the sweeter LP base and the fruitiness. But they never stay long. It just makes me pause and search for the scent, but it has already fled. Perfect on a chilly day, and I wear it to bed frequently. Though DH is not a fan of LP Winter Solstice 2009 - he calls it "that chocolate one."
  3. Mmm hmm it's like that.
  4. So I forwarded the link to DH, and he called me to ask if they make posters of the label art....he wanted Skelly's Head Flambe and Nosfy's Apertif...was he hungry? I think we need a bottle of Mercury Retronaught, since he is a Gemini in sales, and September was his worst month in 5 years... Still debating what besides the sample pack I'm getting. Neurotically debating.
  5. At first I didn't think much of this one. I was afraid it would be too appley (yuckers). I could not imagine wanting to smell like a freakin' apple pie.... But over the summer I grew to really love it. It is perfectly foody perfume - crisp pie crust and berry compote, tiny touch of spicy hanging in the background in summer amounts, and all things happy. Lavishly roll on bare arms and chest, throw on a T-shirt and shorts and I radiate YUM. After a few hours in the heat it becomes a lovely very "perfumey" scent (you know what I mean, right?). And DH who is a self-confessed berry-hound, always comments on how yummy I smell when I wear it. That's a plus!
  6. DHT is the metabolite of testosterone that causes androgenic alopecia ("male-pattern baldness") - among many other more important functions. So increased blood levels of testosterone might allow greater quantities to be converted....but you are limited by the amount of the enzyme that converts the 5a-dihydro part.... Hmmm...a valid question, though I doubt resulting hair loss would be that quick. It is supposedly triggered by follicular miniaturization, which happens over time. Interested to see what Ail knows...
  7. Wine & Dead Roses is normally a scent that I wear at home/bedtime. But today I was feeling the pull of Der Gawthe (thanks, Luna), so I put it on. It is a beautiful scent - softly rose with just a dusting of earth to add some depth. The "wine" is very subtle when wet, at least for me, and just keeps the rose from being "bright" - quiets it to a whisper. My coworker declared that it was gorgeous, but when I told her the name she recoiled at the "dead" moniker...she has very delicate sensibilities. I may decant her a vial, but alter the name a tad....although that just feels wrong.
  8. This is one that always gets an "mmmm strawberries..." reaction from the DH. He loves fruity anyway, but this is just so sexy thick and musky fruity...
  9. Most excellent! Soon I will no longer have to carefully parse out my Santa Carla for a night watching Lost Boys. Wonder how close the rebrew is... Mmmm on the others I definitely need some descriptions! The label art is outstanding this month...
  10. This is a summer fave of mine - I love the first lemony creme (still triggers Fruit Loops for me!) and it settles down to a lovely upbeat happy scent. I wore a lot of this this summer and actually made a decent dent in my bottle.
  11. SG - Rest easy. Sniffle and blow and drink Gypsy Cold Care (yes, a staple around our office, though I loath the licorce). You DO realize that even though we impatiently stalk about this thread and conjecture and stalk some more, that we understand it will happen when it happens. It is all just sort of Pretend-Pressure. Not as though we will all disappear in a huff because you are sick or Mara is busy trying to get caught up. Waiting just builds the excitement, sort of like...nevermind. Mass hysteria is fun! Ok - so we can occupy ourselves with guessing what the rebrew might be then! My guess for the rebrew is Potion 31...I may be way off but that was my first thought.

    BODY PAINT

This one has aged beautifully. I am wearing it today over my new fave lotion (Johnson's Nighttime Baby Lotion - seriously) which is vaguely lavenderish. Makes the fragrance stand out a bit more - and I am all about sillage. It's gotten creamier, notes more integrated, over the last couple of months. A melange of yumminess without being FOODY in your face. Just gorgeously feminine and fun.
  13. Just putting in a little pitch for one of my favorite social blends. I'm wearing Boy/Boy today, as I sometimes do on Fridays. It gives me a nice little lift, makes me feel social and keeps everyone smiling. Not giddy - "receptive" might be a better word. Thinking I should suggest this one to DH for dealing with his office vipers. Altho getting him to wear a phero on top of a perfume has been a hopeless endeavor - too much effort. And like all the D5 blends I have, I really like the powdery/faintly chemical smell (yup, strange but true).
  14. I do the opposite of everyone else, I think. I put fragrance, and then decide what phero I want to use. I stripe it on beside the perfume. Generally, for me at least, a little less than the perfume (with the caveat that I use a boatload of perfume...) All of my straight pheros are in DPG, not oil. To me, they have a vaguely powdery smell, not offensive at all. Drop Your Guard & PC-Cuddle Bunny I literally could just wear alone and sniff all day - I actually LIKE the smell... Now, as far as BI and the heavily EOW'd up....obviously those are gonna smell of cops. I personally don't have anything straight that is heavy on cops - my BI is in perfume...

    Fayha

Evidently the sum of the parts is right on out of my range of sense...and I was sure I would LOVE this one -Oud, Frank'n'myrrh, Jasmine, Frangipani. It positively screams my name. I dug around in my samples just now and pulled out the sorry remains of my sample. Nope. Nuttin. Very vague sense of...somewhat like a generic unscented lotion might smell. Anybody else tried this? What does it do for those of you who can smell it??
  16. Disclaimer - I am not a daily phero user. Just as pretty much everyone has indicated above, I have certain pheros in bottles, mostly those that I consider to be versatile that I might wish to wear with any number of scents - DYG, CB, TH, Boy/Boy. Then I also have a number of boosted bottles of certain favorite scent/phero combinations mostly with SS4W.

    Fayha

This month I just seemed to suffer anosmia with several of the new releases. I really thought I would love this one...and nothing...I don't smell a thing from it! Same thing happened with Cocamama & Pandamaniac. Then yesterday I was decanting some other things and knocked this poor vial on my bathroom tiles. Even spilled all over the floor - nothing! Too strange.
  18. Heart of Kapet is one of my little secret treasures. I often wear it to bed. It is incense, yes, but also so much richer with the other elements. The potion has aged to a mahogany red - a warm and rich red blanket. After a couple of hours it softens to an incredibly rich, powdery scent on me. Another one of those scents that I consider very personal - rarely do I wear it in public. It's for me alone...
  19. N'kay I had to pull out my bottle to see which one I have - it's Raven Moon 2008. This is one I really love, and surprisingly so does DH (usually he's not a fan of anything very sweet). Now I'm curious about 2009 though - may have to get me a bottle just to see what the difference is for myself. I can't imagine not liking it since I adore the 2008 version....

    Lava Rain

I very much like Lava Rain! Honestly, I can smell the wet lava rock... Yet somehow it's soft, and sexy. And works like a charm on the DH.
  21. DH just loves Merlin's Blend. Keeps bugging me to get him a bottle <sigh>. Eventually I will cave, just need to decide which pheros I might amp it with. He wears it at work, mainly, as it is his "daily" style of a green/light floral scent. It is a sneaky scent for me ...one I don't think of as overt, but every time he puts it on I ask "Oh, what's that one!?"

    Thane

Well FROG is good for boys? Must be why DH likes it so much.... Thane is vurrry nice. DH slapped some on this weekend and I kept getting intriguing whiffs of it. Something in there is attractive, without being too forward. Made me wanna get closer and get a better sniff. I can't tell what it is though, and that is good. Almost mysterious, but definitely male, without being overtly sexual...
  23. Tomorrow is the equinox, so *if* there is an LP Autumnal Equinox 2009 it will be charged tomorrow. And then we should get the releases soon after, hoping. I do love fall.
  24. Hehehe I see this is a love-it-or-hate-it scent. Jouir de doesn't agree with me at all either. <sigh> I suppose I am not the dirty girl I pretend to be. Reminds me of the time I tried Zigeunerwein in the office - my co-workers wrestled it from my grasp and threw it out....on me it smelled like a combo of vomit and cat urine...
  25. I just adore this one on DH. He, on the other hand, is very "meh". Sometimes he swipes some on at night...just for me The woodsiness is fantastic in this, and I am sure the TUTH doesn't hurt either, as I am a -none 'ho. But the best part is the nasty TUTH odor is completely hidden.
